I gotta say to all those Millenials that posted negative feedback ; STFU and appreciate the talented musicians that gathered together for this incredible rendition
Super koncert, koukal jsem na něj za komančů v telce na stanici ZDF v Hrádku u Rokycan a nahrával jsem ho na video VHS které tenkrát stálo v tuzexu 25 tisíc.
What an Acolade to Sir Jimi and from such a bunch of so very talented musicians! Such an honour plus an incredible sound! Those people with negative comments please take the time to listen again and remember that this is a musical tribute!!!
I just can't believe the comments below. I just cannot. First of all, this was recorded in a huge space, in the 90's, so everything in the production field was still analogic. I have this on vhs, directly recorded from an old TV set, and it sounds just pretty fucking amazing. When converted/compressed into digital and posted here, it obviously lost some quality... Then, you have Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Joe Walsh (do you even know who that guy is?), Brian May, Nuno Bettencourt and another guitar player I can't identify also playing: that means you have at least six guitars blasting on stage. Each one with it's own gear. If they were all screaming their strings out loud, now that would've been a mess... What you see here is respect for one another, it's musicianship. That's why you ear the voices clearly. Paul Rodgers is just a rock legend, and I'd like to know how the hell someone thinks he has the right to simply put him down like that. Plus, this was a totally improvised thing, at the end of the event, and they decided to honor Jimi's legacy, instead of simply playing one of their own compositions. That's humility and it's humbling. That's what great people do. They did a great show for everyone on that venue. It's a shame when people talk without thinking it through. Damn, I wish I'd been there.
Joe Walsh isn't playing the guitar here. He is singing backup vocals. He's wearing the keyboard scarf. If you don't know who he is listen to The James Gang and the outro of Hotel California. He was part of the Eagles forever.
@@sfeddie1 Is your comment for me? I totally know who he is, absolute legend, you'd know that I do you'd read my entire comment. And Joe Walsh plays guitar here for sure, just watch the whole video closely, please.
WOW! Sensational! This takes me back! Thank you for posting. It's 1 in the morning in Perth Australia, and I am now so pumped after listening to this, I'll never get to sleep!
Disregard them. They may have posted the replies just because their hobby is to complain. Who cares what they write. I am thankful to have the opportunity to enjoy a concert I couldn't attend. I've never seen a live concert that was technically in all respects (except maybe Derek Trucks), and more often than not, the sound quality or acoustics of the venue leaves a lot to be desired It's not perfection I'm looking for -it's the LIVE performance, glitches and all, and the musicians having a great time playing off each other and the crowd responding Check out videos of Otis Taylor & Roy Buchanan playing Hey Joe. Roy's gone, but you can still see Otis if he comes to tow.
"hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand?" " Well, I'm going down south to shoot my old lady, you know I caught her messin' arou...." YEAH, YEAH, YEAH, just be sure to keep one in the chamber for Mike Jeffries" .......(as he's not R. I. P. - he's M. I. A. and needs to be permanently retired........)
These guys are all great. But Blackmore's classical intro Hey Joe just set him apart. I believe the author of the song is unknown. Just can imagine Hendrix, Blackmore, And Page on the same stage. Playing together. So sad Hendrix ripped us off dying to young. Bolin too. That damn Heroin.
yeh it's an old blues classic, I think it was Sonnyboy Williamson ? but, like every cover that Jimi did, (and there aren't that many), he made it his own - Dylan ; "Like a Rolling Stone", "All allong the Watchtower"; "Wild Thing" (the Troggs) .....and look at how he shreds the Starbangled Banner!....
This is my favorite Hey Joe cover, and yes i have heard Roy Buchanan 's version. But his is almost a different song in another vibe. What i hate about this version is the awful sound and image production. All the solos are left to wallow deep down in the mix,you hardly can hear them. Was the soundman on a ciggy break?!. And the selected cameras are focusing on anything but where the action is....sad. Still worth listening though.
Jimmy really brought a lot of love and music to the world, a true sign of a Super human, close to Godliness. We love you Jimmy James.
I gotta say to all those Millenials that posted negative feedback ; STFU and appreciate the talented musicians that gathered together for this incredible rendition

I thought the same about Joe Walsh.
I actually knew who he was, but just wondering who else did... :)
