- This week Sarah helps two aspiring property developers in London. Trying to make as much money as possible from your property is one thing, but filling a house with rooms till it bursts at the seams is quite another. In Hendon, Shaffi Ahmed is convinced she can maximise her rental income by cramming ten bedrooms into a three-bedroom house, even if that means putting them in the attic, in the garage, or even in the shed at the bottom of the garden. A few miles down the road in Acton Derek Gallimore is also trying to increase his rental income by modernising and adding rooms; but will it make any difference when his house sits right on the busy A40?
Very good episode where the developers actually listened as well to Sarah B. Especially about the wet room. Tammy turned out to be an unexpected fantastic project manager (completely off the subject of course, enjoyed seeing her clothes choice throughout as well!)
Absolutely!
She has great taste. Plus fortunate enough to be naturally very beautiful.
Sarah's only been flipping properties since she was 18 what could she possibly know....smh
Sarah is right about how much it would cost. (40:19) Beeny: "How annoying. Imagine what it's like being married to me!"
Nice to see Tammy taking charge and kicking ass. Great job.
Both houses turned out well. The only thing I hated was those tacky multi coloured tiles in the kitchen of the townhouse. They could have put in something much classier.... even plain white subway tiles would have looked better.
Across Britain, you see them in kitchens. It must have been a trend at that time, but I had the same response to them as you! "Ugh!"
( 'Escape To The Country' is the show in which I first saw them).
I'm really surprised the construction crew can get away with outside burning of rubbish.
Someone did that in one of the gardens adjacent to my garden. I phoned the council, who got in touch with them. The owners of the house were very apologetic. They weren't living there at the time and didn't know their builders were doing this. It stopped happening.
My jaw was on the floor. Heaven knows how hazardous some of the incinerated materials were.
The description above is incorrect. Be that as it may, this was a much more satisfying installment. FINally Sarah has some bright and prepared developers she can really mentor. People willing to go out on the street to get an opinion survey are people who care about serving their market.
Great episode with smart developers!
Tammy must be a South African...accent and taking no prisoners!
Good episode
It is good they didn't ask to reuse that old bathtub😂
There is another episode where the house had a huge antique oven that had to stay. The solution was to build new walls completely around it, sacrificing square footage, and leaving it to future generations of developers to rediscover it.
I'm watching this for the 2nd time and I was sure they weren't allowed to move it, so I must be remembering that other episode (but don't remember them walling it off!). Thanks for mentioning it!
Yep, I saw that one quite recently. I guess requirements vary according to both area and the outlook of the individual planning officer. Luck of the draw.
I’EEEEeeee, would have played with irony, and used the oven doors to cover a small refrigerator ... keep wine/glasses chilled or other frequently used items cooler.
Tammy's badass!
I cannot believe Tammy's attitude. Her husband is stressed and struggling and she refuses to get her hands dirty to help him out. I just don't get it.
I want to watch the episode the blurb is for. Wrong info.
I've discovered each description refers to the previous episode; just in case anyone else is confused.
Tammy is ABSOLUTELY dead on re. the kitchen. If you want 'top-dollar' (£ POUNDS!!! £) for a property, you can't go putting in cheap kitchens. Restoration 101.
no ones gunna mention that backsplash...
I put the same backsplash up in my kitchen. The only good thing was the price - 0.50/tile. It lasted a year and I couldn't stand it and ripped it out to replace with travertine.😂
The blonde woman expects what she wants without working hard for it.
She does ALL THE PAPERWORK. I wouldn't call that 'not working hard.' I would MUCH rather be laying brick, tiling, cutting wood, etc. than having to do all the paperwork. Everyone is different I don't think we need to say that some tasks are more valid than others. Know your strengths and play to them.
I DON'T like the fact that Tammy, who (this IS an assumption on my part) HAS NEVER BUILT A WALL IN HER LIFE, decides that the wall needs to be done by the end of the day, or the guy is off the job. I DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE WHO THROW THEIR WEIGHT AROUND LIKE THAT WHEN THEY THEMSELVES HAVE NEVER DONE THE JOB. It's abusive.
@@drunkvegangal8089 I'm not yelling. If youtube provided Italics, I'd use Italics. I only use capitals to denote the words/meanings I want to stress. But I get it: There is only one tone in print. And, yes, I overdid it there! I get upset easily/fast (as is evidenced by my passionate capitals). Point taken.

Oh wait!! It worked! After you click reply!! Wow! Ok. *Thank You!!*
Tammy looks like tommy shelby's sister
Tammy is gorgeous
Wet room? You mean like your a88 water wetting the entire room? I dont think so.
@@drunkvegangal8089 Sure. Am going to scrub down the bathroom every time I shower lol. Nope.
@@drunkvegangal8089 Unsanitary. Bye.
@@drunkvegangal8089 go away.
My God, but that BIG, DARK, HEAVY furniture (38:14) they chose for that small living room DWARFS the room even further. Which goes to show that they DON'T really know what they're doing (I know that that was the style back THEN, but still... lighter colours would have made the room FEEL larger).
On the other hand, the kitchen is brilliant. Especially the wood countertops and butler's sink.
And then... really nice how much simple wooden furniture went in to the rest of the house, so... it's a learning curve.
Fantastic floors, (39:12) especially in the kitchen. That really has the 'Wow!' factor.
If it's that easy to make good profits, then why don't some of these builders take the "RISK" and renovate properties for themselves.? Why do the hard work for others to take the cream. Obviously, it's a different scenario if buyers are going to take on these projects and do the majority of the work themselves.
First of all you need the financial wherewithal to purchase a building. Secondly, you need to have a certain type of character and abilities (such as being able to complete required paperwork correctly, budget well, assess target market and design accordingly etc. etc. etc.) in addition to building skills.
Mr. Finance Guy with his Benz convertible, and Ms. Trophy Wife who sits at home doing nothing. They do a bunch of ugly garish new build McMansions, yet take on a Listed building that they're clueless about and have no interest in, it's just all Pound signs in their eyes...
Uh... Mrs. Trophy wife? Who 'who sits at home doing nothing' ? I don't think so. She has a child; THAT is not 'doing nothing' AND she does all the paperwork. You are blaming/judging her for being beautiful? DO you want people coming to look at you and making all sorts of assumptions and judgements about you and your life based on their biases??
@@andreaandrea6716 You put into words exactly what I thought when I read that put-down.
imho, the utter idiocy of a demand to reuse the bricks and stones should put off any buyer. ppl should really stop buying properties with idiotic demands and just let those places fall apart-but at least all the bricks and stones will remain
The tourist industry in the UK is huge business and ripping out all the character of places would make it decidedly boring. I've lived in listed buildings and it's pretty nice to have history around. You can have both history and mod cons - best of both worlds. I'd hate to live in a modern box. Just built an extension and half the bricks are old. It's also ecologically sound.
@@Jules_Pew That's why I travel to the UK. The history. Allow that to collapse into the dustbins I may as well go to walmart.
