    Take a look at the Britpart Lynx interface unit in the special functions for bleeding out the "WABCO D" ABS modulator and whole vehicle brake hydraulic system.
    With help from Steve at Britpart we will show you how.

    A quick question, is the manual bleed sequence the same for a 110 with ABS as it is for the 90 because of the different pipe layout and no PRV that the 90 has? Thanks

      The Defender belongs to the director of Britpart. If you watch carefully you might catch a glimpse of the Range Rover Classic in the workshop that he was welding up.

    Hi. I have 2003 D2. I took off all calipers and pistons. Repaired all of them. I took off brake fluid reservoir and cleaned. Then I putted all of them to their places. I filled the brake reservoir max and made manual bleed. I received the air all calipers. Now new fluid is coming from all of the calipers. But the pedal is soft and brakes is not working good. What do you prefer or what can be the problem. Thanks

    Excellent vid as usual. Would like to see what else the Lynx is capable of, engine diagnostics wise.

    Hi Chris, thanks for a great vid! I need to replace my abs modulator and not sure if i should empty the brake fluid reservoir? Do i need to do anything else before disconnecting lines from the modulator or just a. Remove fluid, b. Disconnect lines from modulator, swap in new dry modulator,, c. Connect lines, fill reservoir, manually bleed wheels starting from furthest wheel from modulator LR on my RHD 110, d. Keep reservoir filled, then do power bleed via nanocom?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  4 роки тому

      The reservoir will probably drain out if you don't take the fluid out but it is your call, The modulator shouldn't be totally dry however bleed it through manually of pressure bleed it until you have fluid to the modulator.

      Trailerfitter's Toolbox Videos hi Chris, i've swapped over the modulator after removing fluid from the reservoir. When all pipes were connected to the modulator, i filled up the reservoir and the started pumping the brake about 10 times, the pedal went from near nothing to firm. I then pressed pedal to the floor and pressed Bleed Modulator, every time it did a cycle, the pedal when down by a fraction. I did this process about 5 times. I then performed manual bleeding starting at the FL, FR, RL RR until all air bubbles were removed, by this time the pedal was very firm. The next thing i did was to start back at the FL and opened the bleed nipple, with pipe in clean fluid, glass bottle. I pressed the Power bleed function on the nanocom i have but apart from a little fluid that ran from the nipple in the pipe before pressing the power bleed nothing came out, no fluid at all. I didnt allow the reservoir to drop below low and used just under 2L of fluid with the bleeding i have done. I started the defender as a last resort and the pedal was like sponge until you pump it a few times. I wondered of there was air trapped in the modulator and thus the reason nothing comes out when the power bleed function was used? I have parked the truck as i can not drive it in the state it is in, and at my witts ends, i've removed the wheels wuit a few times today to re bleed but no luck. Have you got any idea what i am doing wrong or how i can get the air (if it is air) out of the modulator? Please Chris.

    Can ABS systems be bled without setting off the modulator, as in the manual way. I have managed to do it on a Discovery 1 1998

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  8 років тому

      +Omar Hofayz Yes just bleed it normally.

    I have a 2000 LR d2 that I'm getting ready to replace all calipers, rotors and pads.(Can't afford all at once so I've been saving and buying as I go) I DO have a pressure bleeder. My question is, what's the bare minimum(read least expensive) tool I can get to do the electrical bleeding part of this? BTW, when I was hit by an IED in 2011 in Afghanistan, I was allowed to watch/work with British mechs in Kandahar repairing some of their up-armored Rovers and had a ball. I think it helped my recovery big time. PS . subbed

    When trying to manually bleed the 2007 defender with ABS I can only get the pedal to go half way down until its hard stop, is this the bias on the SWB to the rear. Also, I have pumped a lot of fluid to the OS rear and get continual air and just can't get the rear to work. .. PS changed the Master Cylinder from a Bearmach OEM unit as I thought that was the problem but it was not the problem, thinking I might have a faulty ABS unit but no idea how to check. I have tried bleeding the top four pipes on the top of the ABS unit as well. Thanks as always if you can shine some light for me

    • @tommilne5756
      @tommilne5756 7 років тому

      Just to update I put a pressurised brake fluid tank onto the header tank of the master cylinder and re-bled from the master cylinder to the ABS unit and especially the pipes marked for the rear two callipers. I then bled the rear callipers just using the pressurised feed and had to pump through over a litre of fluid until I was sure there was no air in the system and that was it good pedal and all callipers working as they should. One point worthy of note is I could hardly believe how much fluid I had to bleed to get rid of all the air

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 років тому

      There is no bias to the rear. I am not sure if the still fit the safety PRV on the SWB but that is to split and shut of part of a brake system if it leaks. The only way to check a faulty ABS system is to talk to it with a reader / scanner. It may not throw up fault codes but will give you an indication of problems if you monitor it or activate components within the system.
      You can do certain checks such as getting the shuttle valves to operate independently either by activation or monitoring them with live data. I have noticed on many vehicles with ABS one really needs to activate the ABS modulator / power bleed to get it to bleed out that part of the system.

      AH ha. I just saw this after writing an answer. Yes of course pressure bleeding is another option. Usually reserved for when it get tough. If the system has been drained it will take some fluid to get it all back. I tend to isolate sections then replace parts then bleed out with as minimal loss as possible. Glad it is sorted for you.

    Hi, great video, but does the modulator bleed cycle get air out of the Master Cylinder? Cheers!

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  3 роки тому

      No, In a nutshell. You bleed outward. Master cylinder, ABS modulator to callipers.

    I've got a discovery 1 300tdi and I've got mega problems getting the air out of the system having replaced the master cly and servo and one of the rear pipes, how can I bleed the modulator without a lap top or have I got to send it to a specialist?

    • @trailerfitter2

    Any tips on bleeding a brake system on a 2008 Freelander 2, can I bleed it manually the normal way?

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 років тому

      Yes, there usually isn't a problem doing that. It is a normal brake system with added pumps when it has ABS fitted.

    • @craiglidsey6462
      @craiglidsey6462 7 років тому

      Ok great, do I need the engine running so the servo is working whilst bleeding? Thanks, Craig.

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  7 років тому

      You'd want to use the power of the servo if you were bleeding up little lorry brakes but better to bleed without the engine running. That way you "feel" the pedal.

    Hi, great videos, my question is are Britpart any good? I hear on lots of forums they are mainly rubbish parts. ie brake parts, suspension parts, just wondering cos you know all their is to know :-)

    Hi would this work on 1999 p38

    • @trailerfitter2
      @trailerfitter2  3 роки тому

      You need to check up the specs for the kit as it has changed somewhat from the original. I guess because it is electronically sophisticated ti would have some sort of facility to power bleed.
