I didn’t realize there was no space between a single static shot music video and a blockbuster movie. Thank you for enlightening me

i dont think he's really "going anywhere." the bus and the trip he's on is most likely an extended metaphor for the journey one takes when falling in love. kind of like Dijon's Absolutely film where it felt like there was a deeper meaning or a more thought-out "story" but it was really just a loosely connected short story that is left up to interpretation for the audience. it's meant to be ambiguous so that people can find their own meaning in it. Mike has referenced in interviews that there is a story being connected throughout the album but hasn't said much. He knows what he's doing and he def won't let us down

dude wants all visuals to be like his favorite artist. doesnt seem to be open minded about where the artists attack on visuals are. cant count his own rating. dude just dont get it. Love that.

imagine missing the whole point. its a live version not a music video. don't scale it to music videos. think of it as a visualizer to a live version or an intimate live setting to hear a different version of the og song.

Who says I have to think of it in the way you suggested? My main disappointment is the fact that he’s made of series of videos surrounding the same concept but there doesn’t seem to be any deeper connection between the videos beyond aesthetics. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)

@@TheContentReview I think he’s fleshing that out as time goes on. Clearly Dijon’s film for Absolutely had more vision to it, and to my knowledge is the same director, but I do think we’re at the very beginning of a new era for Mk.gee as an artist and what he wants to say. I recommend listening to his BBC radio interview, he gives a more in depth and interesting explanation of the vibe of the album. There’s even a BTS shot on his subreddit from someone who played an extra on this Candy music video. It was meant to be a bus full of sleeping passengers as he is the only one playing. Definitely a deeper vision at one point it seems, but like the original commenter said I do think that Mk.gee is maybe making conscious choices so far to reign in creative visions until he films more music videos to really create a compelling narrative.

And to add onto this someone on the Mk.gee subreddit did an impromptu interview with him and someone who worked on the music videos inquiring about a grander vision or even a movie like Absolutely, and they said “no comment”. I do believe there is much more in the works that’s not immediately visible to us right now. I agree with your assessment though I think Candy is weak on video execution but lush in sound design and captures his energy well.

You don’t like candy? That’s like a top 5 song for me on the album
