Thank you! I got two iron puzzles a couple years ago in a lot I picked up. I had no problem with the first one. This one was another story. I have done it twice since watching your video. Even after watching the video, it still took several tries. Awesome!
The best thing to do is to tell a clever story of overcoming impossibility as you smoothly run through the transition of getting the ring off of the chain and the shoes. It adds to totally blowing the mind of someone who is a very small minded person and thinks that everything hard is impossible to overcome
I agree. I had one of these as a kid. I understand how to do it and that it works... but HOW does it work. It just doesn't seem possible and the mechanics somehow baffle me every time.
Imagine once the chains are crossed during the twisting action there is an axle going down their center, what he does is then rotate the horseshoes 180 degrees to one another instead of folding them face to face. This is the most important step because it undoes the crossing action causing the ring to gain access to the inside of the links. During this step the chains are now allowing the ring to slide down the side of both horseshoes because they have become closer together. The second horseshoe "catches up" next to the other one from inside the ring. He is literately folding the puzzle inside the ring by making the horseshoes distance shorter, it's wild isn't it? Whoever first invented this puzzle had a unique way of thinking.
This is like the definition of magic. I can do it, I can show you how I do it, BUT I STILL HAVE NO CLUE HOW IT WORKS! Tried doing it slowly n it either doesn't work or I still can't figure it out

Here's some arcana you might find interesting for this old puzzle. The ring is called "keter" (meaning "the crown"), the two shoes are the Christian world and the Muslum world (who both had horses), the links in between the shoes are called "Justice" and "Karma".
Me either and I’ve watched this video several times! We’ve had a set of these laying around in our house since I was a kid and I’m almost 60, I used to be able to do it as a kid

Can't be done if there isn't a gap in either the ring or the links.
It could lol
This is so frustrating and I can't figure out how to twist it
