Very weird that you had to do this. A pax unit that has been properly constructed is guaranteed for 10 years in the U.K. because it’s a solid piece of furniture. Does this mean that the US and U.K. ones are different?
I think they're the same everywhere. I live in Morocco and my pax closet is also guaranteed 10 years and is very very sturdy so I dont understand why she needed to add support
I had to do it is because I did not construct them with the bottom part the way that it supposed to be because I wanted baseboards instead of the open area
This is misleading. Putting the unit together per the instructions builds a solid unit. You should make it clear that you intentionally were not building it as directed.
You did a phenomenal job but I have a question….how did you attach the 1x3 support to cabinet as I have the tallest pax cabinet system and see what you mean on how flimsy the cabinet is and it definitely needs more support for sure but it was hard to tell in your video on how you attached those supports
What shelvings did you put at the very top of your Pax Wardrobe? My ceilings are really high, so I want to lengthen the tops and install a library ladder, so that’s why I’m wondering. Thanks!
you are not supposed to stand them up from the side (the part when they fall apart in your video). I just built yesterday 2 pax, all went fine, you just have to follow the instructions.
what type of shelving did you use above the base frames? Im planning to do something similar and trying to figure out what shelves I can put on top to bring the units closer to my 9ft ceilings
And also raise it towards the back side, as its clearly shown in the instructions. Buy hey, some idiot will probably comment here that we are mansplaining anyway.
It's not all about skill. Using Pax as the starter is a huge time saver. You don't have to do as much finish work and painting. You don't have to drill all the shelf pin holes.
Why did you say you wished you added spacers? Can you elaborate? Is it for aesthetics to match the baseboards and front plates you added? Or for a practical reason?
Ermm… you see that packet of panel pins and the odd pear-shaped black thing in the hardware pack that came with the carcass? You use them to fix the back panels to the rebated edge at the back of the wardrobes. You’re welcome!
Ive had mine for 7 years and have no had a single issue with it. It was the first project in my first house and did 0 prep work and it has been fantastic
I've had mine for 12 years, including disassembling and reassembling it because of changing apartments. No issues at all. Also, I could do it all by myself. You can talk a lot of crap about IKEA, but their pax system is good. Unless you don't go by the instructions
They included nails to attach the back to the wardrobe, seems like you forgot to use them. And also you’re not supposed to turn the cabinet upright like this….
OMG Ikea is a fraud. Really paying for assembling yourself. Before we were like wealthy people, you bought a piece of furniture and the store sent someone to help you assemble it. Now we are store's employees without the pay.
Very weird that you had to do this. A pax unit that has been properly constructed is guaranteed for 10 years in the U.K. because it’s a solid piece of furniture. Does this mean that the US and U.K. ones are different?
No she did not nail the back onto the unit before standing it up I have the same ones in the US and they are also guaranteed for ten years
@@HUZZAH-4Life Just noticed so she did all that extra work because she didn’t read the instructions??!!
@@ladyn5273 Yes

Finally! I have the same exact space for my wardrobe!! Now I have a better idea!
If it's mounted well it holds very well.
This is misleading. Putting the unit together per the instructions builds a solid unit. You should make it clear that you intentionally were not building it as directed.
That never happened to me. Ikea Pax systems are pretty sturdy
You did a phenomenal job but I have a question….how did you attach the 1x3 support to cabinet as I have the tallest pax cabinet system and see what you mean on how flimsy the cabinet is and it definitely needs more support for sure but it was hard to tell in your video on how you attached those supports
Doesn’t need more support. You just didn’t read the instructions…
Maybe she just wanted more support 🙄… she wasn’t throwing up a one piece …she was combining multiple wardrobes for master closet..
Agreed
@@taginefc3189with Support, she meint clicks and likes......now i get it 😅
Amazing! I think I definitely need to do this with my hubbys closet

Girl I need the full version
you are not supposed to stand them up from the side (the part when they fall apart in your video). I just built yesterday 2 pax, all went fine, you just have to follow the instructions.
More support? You just built it wrong i had and still have no problems with it.
Thanks for the tips..did you hard wired the under-shelf lights?
What are those awesome lights? Any information would help thank you!
Did you put the shoe shelves at an angle just using the provided hardware?
Question- why did you add. 2x4 base at the bottom of the wardrobes? Does that help with anything?
My question also
I think to accommodate a baseboard/crown molding!
Can you share full video please
I am doing a series - the full video may be SUPER long!
@@getknottydiy Can’t wait! It looks like you did an amazing job!
I would also like to see more of this. I would like to do something similar
@@getknottydiy yes that would be great
Why did you wish you would have spacers and in between where?
Beautiful outcome
Lol, more Support.
How much nails did you use for your pax back?
3??
If you use all the nails, it's perfect.
Nice work
Awesome work
what type of shelving did you use above the base frames? Im planning to do something similar and trying to figure out what shelves I can put on top to bring the units closer to my 9ft ceilings
Why did you wish you had added spacers between the units?
I’m assuming because the face frames she attached were wider than 2 cabinet sides together.
@@christophercrawford2736 Even though she could trim off the frame that's hanging off the sides with an oscillating tool.
@@princessbc9791 that would look god awful. Better to trim them down to size with a table saw.
@@christophercrawford2736 Agreed.
is there a full video link?? i need a step by step explanation please!! thank you!
Hi, you used your own toe kick/kickboard. I noticed that the backboard is short. Were you able to use the original toe kick to cover the gap?
Not a bad idea if time building yourself is an issue or you’re just learning and especially for a closet
Did you use the IKEA lights inside yours? I’ve ready a lot of negative reviews, was thinking of buying some of Amazon instead.
All out of PAX system in NJ/NY area. Placed an order 4 months ago and still waiting
Great job!
Nicely Done!
What was clearly needed was reading the freaking instructions. It clearly tells you to raise it from the ground towards the back side not the side.
You are supposed to nail in that white backer that flung out lol that holds the unit square
And also raise it towards the back side, as its clearly shown in the instructions. Buy hey, some idiot will probably comment here that we are mansplaining anyway.
Do you nail the closets to the baseboards?
hi... ia m new to diy.. i just want to know why did you make a 2 by 4 base for these cabinets
Where did you get the lights?
Why did you make a frame to fit the boxes??
How did you nail the face plate to angle for shoes?
Genius shoe rack! ❤
For the bases did you secure them to the wall?
Great idea on the side for shoes 👌🏻👌🏻
Where to buy the first place what are the lighting’s
What type of under-shelf lighting did you use?
What did u use for lightnng
How did you leveled it?
What’s the cost of this upgrade?
What lights did you use ?
Awesome
Que matavilloso es tener herramienta!
Why do you wish you would’ve added spacers?
How much all together was your closet?
what is ""liquefied nails"
Well all you needed to do is to put nails for the backsheet, and its solid, I could see how you droped it, and you thought its not.
I’ve built loads of pax wardrobes and they didn’t require extra support 🤷🏻♀️
With all her tools and skill she could have just made a much stronger one with plywood than using Ikea Pax
It's not all about skill. Using Pax as the starter is a huge time saver. You don't have to do as much finish work and painting. You don't have to drill all the shelf pin holes.
and it would have taken much longer and been more expensive
Harder to get a smooth finish
How much was the whole closet?
Haha I have my washer and dryer in a pax and you have to do all this hahaha
I don't get it. What's funny?
The base you built from wood = DIY; the comlete closet with all shelfs is bought No DIY 🤨🤨
How much did all that cost?
young lady you are a great worker and your beauty . Your work is second to none may God continue to bless you and your family
Where did you but nails ???
is Ikea reliable?
Looks great
The backing would only fall out if you don't use the nails
How much cheaper is this?
Why did you say you wished you added spacers? Can you elaborate? Is it for aesthetics to match the baseboards and front plates you added? Or for a practical reason?
So much work I don't think I'll attempt this models 😢
The back was on but she didn't nail it all the way around
Happy dusting
😂😂
awesome ♥️
She did not hammer in the nails as instructed...it's rock solid with those
Shelfings????
all you over engineers are going to have fits with the newly designed pax
Come and do mine love them ❤
using enough nails on the back gives it the strength you were looking for.
Not really the point of ikea furniture. Typical example of making things complicated for no reason 😂😂😂
Ikea furniture is cheap crap. She did right.
So basically don’t shop at IKEA?
Ermm… you see that packet of panel pins and the odd pear-shaped black thing in the hardware pack that came with the carcass?
