- Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share with you this new room makeover! Today I'm tackling Avalina's room and boy was it a DAY! It took forever to declutter everything and go through it all and then to decorate! This was a total budget-friendly room decor too because she had a lot of the things she wanted I didn't buy a lot, which was so nice! The vibe / aesthetic of this room is indie/skater girl / who the heck knows. Tell me what it's called because I still don't have a clue. Really makes me feel like a mom haha

I love that you let her have her own style/aesthetic and even encourage it. I know some people wouldn't want their children to have any sort of expression. Thank you for encouraging your daughter to be herself.
LOL..I love that you worked together to declutter her room. My son is 16 and I find scissors and lots and lots of chip clips in his room. I love that you find the most random things in her room. Tyler has four chip clips that he used to secure the trash can bag to the top edge of that can. So funny! He had both pairs of my kitchen scissors in his room. Ugh! Oh my goodness! My son has tapestries on his walls in his bedroom and game room upstairs. He has LED light strips around his ceiling walls. He would love that lamp! You did an awesome job being very pregnant! You get the coolest mom award.
Love that you let children have a say in what they want in their rooms we let our daughter do that when she was small and helps them to create and responsibility for their STUFF I know it drives us mama's CRAZY thanks for the makeover video God bless you and your family

The cheese grater!!! Every time something is missing from the kitchen Alex and I ask each other “have you looked in avalinas dresser?” 😂💀🎉
I thought that was so funny too! 12 pairs of scissors, a cheese grater, and a thermometer! Avalina’s like a squirrel packing stuff away for winter lol. I think it’s wonderful how Kim just lets the little stuff slide, but she’s engaged and loving. It’s all part of parenthood and Kim does it so well.
I don't think I've ever felt a video so deeply. The backpacks are full of things, the dance costumes... I put this on while cleaning my daughter's room. I'm so thankful to know it's not just my baby

I really appreciate that you are raising children that are secure in their own likes and dislikes. That Avalina was able to express her aesthetic with you, even though it was something you weren't familiar with, and weren't a big fan of.. and then TOGETHER you created a brilliant room that Avalina loves. That... that right there is the most amazing Five Star mummy award ever! You should be so so so proud of yourself for being the parents to such amazing kids. Oh.. and Avalina can come design my kids rooms anytime! xx

Love that Avalina has her own style and is confident enough to do things her way. It might be hard going through the teenaged years but will be definitely a blessing once she is grown up. Be a leader and not a follower

You’re kids have the best parents on the planet. You let your kids personalities come through. They will be very creative adults. You and Alex are the best.

This is my 9 year old - he saves EVERYTHING! If we have a “good” box (like Bojangles - sturdy with a handle) he grabs it for storage. So much stuff it starts trickling into other spaces. He also has ALL THE SCISSORS!! Thanks for this, friend! Love that you respect your kiddos’ spaces and decisions about their preferences. ❤️

OMG I was so waiting for this makeover! I loved Eleanors room so much, makes you feel happy inside. But, I was excited for Avalinas room and OMG, it's so cool 😎😍. Love her style, she's one cool girl. Her room looks incredible!!🍄🌵🍃 When our youngest daughter was about Avalina’s age, we did a makeover in her room. At that time, she was into anything celestial. Her walls were a denim color, she had a beautiful celestial comforter and then we had the bright idea to stick glow-in-the-dark stars all over the ceiling! When she got a little older, her taste changed a bit and she decided to basically wallpaper band posters all over the walls (one poster in particular was of the band Korn and it was what nightmares were made of for me!!🙀🙀🙀). She also created a collage of photos and magazine pics that covered the entire back of her door! Let me tell you, when she went off to college, peeling all of those stars off of the ceiling and all of the teeny tiny pieces of scotch tape off of that door was tons of fun!!🙄 Happy to report that she is now 34 and is an awesome decorator in her own home😊🙏
Wow. She did an amazing job! We all have that one kid with all the “treasures”. It actually is so sweet to see what they hold onto sometimes. But, there’s definitely a time to declutter!

I hate assembling furniture as so frustrating . I either buy it with assembly service or no - if no service available- love last pieces as you can take them already assembled lol! You are a great family and hard working! God bless you all and thank you for sharing :)

Another GREAT room redo!!!! That is definitely a pre teen room, Love it!!! Yes, the clutter never ends it only gets worse. 15-18 is such a fun time, you’ll love it when your girls get there Haha. But seriously, it beautiful and Avalina must absolutely love it!
Watched when this posted. Just getting time to say way to go on making Avalina such a cool room. Love all the black light stuff and that the friend donated tapestry matched the cool mushroom lamp she found as an inspo piece. It’s defo more hippie than skater but they kinda overlap now don’t they. Oldster get off my lawn commenting here. Lol! You could put a tall skinny bookshelf and her chair and some hanging lights in there for a comfy reading nook. She just wants a quiet space for privacy j think with her closet desires. When we were kids my doofy brother took over a walk in closet and made it info his “magic show” around her age 😂😂😂. Sometimes you just want a space to express yourself as a kiddo. You did great in helping her do this and being patient and she did a-freaking-mazing at being patient and go with the clutter flow.
Funny how the bedroom threw up all the scissor hoard when her needs were met. I was cracking up so much. My mom used to make us go thru our closets and she called it “Junk on a bunk” lol. We dreaded it and I still do. Ha.

My sister used to make cake frosting and sneak eat it and one tjme when we were moving my poor mom discovered a mixing bowl of cement frosting in my sister’s closet hidden and a can of cherry pie filling under her bed. I have to call my mom and share your story. She’s 86 and will appreciate the funny memories too!
I love the bedroom. Really appeals to me. I'm old enough to be Avalina's grandma, but it reminds me of when I was her age in the 70s. Everything comes around again. Great job! Btw, your Kids are the cutest!

Oh the struggle is real!! I have a 17 year old & a 13 year old (both girls), and I gave up on the room situation years ago 😂. The parenting years when you don't have as much control is so bitter sweet, isn't it?! Avalina reminds me of my older daughter - artistic, independent, and definitely her own style!! I love it💖!! Btw, I spied a mini fridge (my girls are BEGGING)... what's your opinion? Anyway, you both did a fantastic job 👏👏👏👏

I spent months looking for my largest mixing bowl, finally helped my 9 year old clean out her closet and found it. She had been using it as the ocean for her mermaid Barbie dolls. 😂😂

I find myself saying that alot "you are definitely your father's child" when they have the same tendency haha. Being able to spend that one on one time with each child and their room is a fun time and bond. I'm doing this with my 9 year old daughter and she loves it.
