  • They are all serious rescue professionals, but they are not typical ones. None are particularly active recreational climbers or mountaineers. Some grew up around mountains, but most hail from southern Idaho, a landscape that is, other than its deep river canyons, mostly flat farmland. The team raises most of its budget each year with an annual gala dinner, the Paramedic Soiree. In a good year, they'll raise maybe $25,000.
Yet, call for call, man for man, the Magic Valley Paramedics SORT might be the best technical rescue team in America. The team is called to dozens of rescues a year around the Snake River Canyon, nearly all of which call for quick, technical responses on jagged cliffs that vary from desert heat to ice and snow.

God bless them. Not many people are willing to go this route. Being a Paramedic is a noble profession and the don't get enough recognition.

I’m a level 3 IRATA rope access technician these kind of rescues are my bread and butter.

I would challenge you to do it this quickly and efficiently in such difficult terrain. The IRATA course is good, but this is the result of thousands of hours of training and dedication focussing entirely on rescue scenarios and perhaps hundreds of hours performing actual rescues. This level of skill and experience is pretty rare.

In the mid-90s my uncle and one other man had the water rights underneath the prinne bridge and they would give tours under the prinne bridge there they would pick up base jumpers after they hadlanded he did this for a couple of seasons after he retired from AT&T. He lives in twin falls still.
I learned to repel at the age of 12 from table Rock in Boise Idaho I was in the boy scouts at the time one of the funnest things that you can do but also the hardest is to put your rear end over the edge and let those feet go. 🤔

Lobby your local members to GIVE them the funding. They're already doing everything they can, it requires action from the public to initiate actual change!

I could honestly see BRCC, Doing fundraiser 's for these kinds of groups,IF they don't already. Hats off to the Emergency workers for everything they do. Another great example of humanity at it's finest. However I do wonder if ANY of these guys think some of the people they rescue are Darwinism at it's finest lol 🤣.
