  • Two Minelab metal detectors square off on a very small subgram gold nugget during a bench test in Arizona. More feild testing with both machines and comparisons to come.....

This video is fairly accurate at showing this weakness in the Minelabs, though the PI detectors from Minelab are not known to be able to compete with the VLF detectors on small gold, My GP3000 couldn't find gold less than 1/8 gram even if it was laying on the coil but on the other side of the scale it did detect nuggets above 2 grams deeper than the VLF detectors could. So at 5 grams of gold the PI detectors are about 50% deeper than the VLF detectors. At 1 oz(31g) they are almost 100% deeper.

I have had weird things happen to me also. It has happened to me that my gpx 5000 would not pick up a .2 gram nugget, but would really scream with a lighter .1 gram nugget. I think the purity of the gold has a real lot to do with it. Anyway very interesting video indeed, I am a fan of the Eureka gold, it's my VLF of choice, together with the ctx 3030.

Pulse Induction do not test well in the air. Set that little nuggy on the ground and the 5000 might get it. Good vid.

You make me feel much better about the Eureka unit.
That would be my choice for a gold detector.
I'm so sold on the Minelab detectors' I already own a Minelab Sovereign GT unit and it is perfection as an all round unit.

Outstanding test! Can you test it vs Goldmaster GMT or TDI Pro??? Thanks!

WTF. I'm staying with the Eureka. The dealer told me it will locate a nugget the size of a grain of rice.

@nuggetnoggin they like ALL detectors have greater range in air than ground. Its just bullshit that minelab PI's somhow use the ground to go deeper. The only thing wrong with the comparison is that the PI will be getting interference from the near by house wiring and the vlf won't.
The PI will however go deeper than a VLF in the ground and in the air tests as a general rule

Anywhere you can run a Eureka Gold you can run the GPX5000 in Sensitive Extra. And this will still be less affected by ground minerals. I bet you would've detected the first nugget.

the gpx would of found that nugget if it was in the ground, they dont function good in the air.

I could of swore the Eureka Gold was a Pulse Induction detector ....

So the gpx detected that nuggets in the air, must be sync in fine gold and special, ok

Testers show the limitations of their technical knowledge with this 'test'. I dont own either machine but this test only shows that if you're prospecting in a house then you should use a vlf instead of a more sensitive pi machine.
    test fail.

Totally flawed test. 2 coils shoudln't be that close together. neither machine was ground balanced. It was an air test, not a ground test. VLF will always run smoother in hi EMI suroundings which this is clearly set in. Run this same test out where u go deteting and watch the differences in results. 5000 is so sensative to EMI it would just not work in these conditions and it was overcast.
    Sorry, but this test fails.

Условия теста одинаковые! Если EURIKA определила самородок то и GPX должен его также определить! УСЛОВИЯ ОДИНАКОВЫЕ!
