  • 303rd Infantry Regiment, 97th Infantry Division in Siegburg, Germany. The 97th Infantry Division "Trident" participated in the Central Europe campaign with its first day of combat on 7 April 1945, logging a total of only 31 days in combat. In 31 days, however, the division had close to 1000 battle casualties and almost 200 men killed in action. The Trident Division was sent to Japan, and served on occupation duty until early 1946.
