Lol, the marks on the inside are just mill lines from the CNC.
It's a sweet knife though. I love mine and I'm getting ready to swap a wharncliffe blade into it.

I've seen in other reviews where the aluminum version (5101) has the finger balance you wanted on your custom.

Just received mines today. Got it with the Nichols Damascus blade, I love it and your review was spot on

The pocket clip doesn’t keep me from buying it, it’s the $400 Knife with blade play that gets me. The middle finger scallop on handle looks like it would be too big too. To each their own.

It has blade play?.....normally SnuggleBunny would mention that, no? He is very thorough, usually..

Bob B. He did mention it. Said he didn’t know if would call it play but he can feel it. I’m not sure really what that means. Personally I think if you can feel it, that’s play.

Button locks don't lock up with the same feel as frame locks or liner locks. All button locks feel the same.

This exact version is my “grail” knife. Absolutely breathtaking

I've got the production model and love it. Have no idea how they got the detent so good on a button lock. The sound it makes on opening....closing is outstanding. I love how clean he left the blade. Balance on the production version is perfect due to the lighter aluminum scales. Wish Dave would have moved that new production site to AZ. Much friendlier knife state

Agree I always cringe when I hear manufacturer for guns or knives who's located in California especially those in Southern California

Pretty. Just picked up a Brend2 this week, first actual Protech (not Boker collab). Loved the sterile blade, this one too. Very sterile. I’m impressed

Agree with the lack of internal milling, probably my only complaint about it as well. Compared to my aluminum one, the Ti is noticeably heavier. Overall a fantastic knife and if the sales are any indicator, Protech should make more button lock flippers in the future.

Love it. I just managed to pick up a standard Blue aluminum version.
They will surely sell as many as they can make. It’s incredible.
Id like the one you’ve got with a Damascus blade as well if I can ever find it.

Love these, I hear the manual tr3 is great and I have a manual tr4 that's very good but not on bearings, super smooth but not the same drop shut.
The cambria is also amazing, thier first button lock manual on bearings.

Not sure why I was expecting this to be Nick Shabazz and was wondering where the disassembly video was lol

Nick already has his disassembly video up on the Malibu, but no full review yet.

Interesting...but not something that I would buy at that price point.....or higher.
Thanks for the review and info about the company...I own a couple of their CPM 154 autos...not users for me...more novelty knives because of the artwork/designs on the knives that I found them to be kind of fun.

Awesome review and glad you enjoy it! Pro-Tech is aiming to bring more malibus in the 4th quarter of 2020! It’s been a real job to bring the malibu to market and bring a new product that’s both unique from the other offerings, yet 100% Protech through and through. All the best and thanks for checking it out! -PT Matt

Austn - another great review! Dying to get my hands on a Mordax and a Malibu. Hey I have some new and unreviewed knives I’d love to send for your review, is there a EpicSnuggleBunny email address I can hit you up on?

You say you want to hang onto it...but the balance Auston! It's all wrong! Clearly you are underwhelmed. Save your money and own a regular version. I'll trade you mine and pay the difference so you can go buy your next venture.

Both Protech and Microtech cost too much for what you get. There are similar designs, just as well made, for less money. This model is a very vanilla clone of a lot of other knives and I see nothing compelling enough to justify the price. Useful video though, thanks.

@@cavedog1279 no he can't name better button lock flipper or a better Microtech because he's talkin AliExpress most likely! 😔 love it when people say stuff like this just because they can't afford a certain brand they'll tell you they can, but they can't and they don't own the knives in question... what's he talkin about a lightning OTF probably 😂 looks like we'll be waiting a long time on the correct answer of who has as good quality as ProTech or microtek at a better price...
Benchmade OTF for the same prices as Microtech and there is no other quality OTF out there that's less expensive then Benchmade or Microtech.. when they say this shit they miss one thing and that's the quality.. again a lightning OTF or equivalent is not the same quality or blade Steel ad an ultratech... the Op is just jealous he doesn't have the funds and will continue to buy his AliExpress while telling us there are better button lock flippers out there for Less than the base model of the Protech Malibu which is 190...
He'll expect us to believe 99.9% of the knife Community is wrong and he is the only one who's right..
Not only do I want to know who else makes a better button lock flipper then the Protech Malibu as he said but I want to know who makes an OTF with a better action and m390 steel than Microtech at this amazing budget price he speaks of?
