The reason I think you're seeing less and less dps really hard pop off is because of the metas that we're seeing like orisa hog, double shield, and even bunker even though its a dps meta its hard for the other dps to do anything really with a barrier in your face all game and you've got orisa pulling hog hook all the stuns and just aids things so I see a lot of tanks doing the "why do I have golds" and its because the tanks are right up in the thick of things and can push through the shields and the stun without dying and get the damage in but dps cant so.

With how much damage mitigation there is and the healing moira puts out, it's really hard to confirm kills if you don't have instant kills in your kit (doom/widow etc). Even in masters if the tanks don't secure the fight, dps just can't seem to keep up.

In Blizzard's system every name has a unique ID attached to the end of it that doesn't get shown in-game, which is why you can pick any name you want even if it's already been chose, and also why it can look like there are lots of players that have the same name. For example, Cyx's alt is like "Dude#77298" or something.

The reason dps aren’t on fire as much is because it requires perfect play in this meta and theirs so much healing and tanking if you miss one shot or one mistake you won’t get the kill and most tanks out dps the dps hero’s so most of the time you get 50% or less points twords being on fire

*Could be useful engage (Maybe designed like Sigma's Accretion stun)
*Damage could be based on thrown hero's max hp (more incentive to throw a tank)
*Perhaps a support utility ultimate that would offer something new besides damage/healing/shielding
*Could be exploited by trolls, so I think a button prompt to "accept" the throw would need to be implemented.

Maybe it is because tanks get blocking, enemy hooked, stunned, etc; supports get healing, assists, etc. But dps only gets enemy kills, and they have to spend most most their time shooting shield

i think alot of dps players are struggling with 2-2-2 honestly. i feel that game sense and comp matter more than ever and too many dps focus soley on aim and getting picks instead of coordinating with their team to feed them information, or get good ability combos.

They literally added 222 to force people to play dps because the role wasnt getting played at high levels because it was useless. Tanks deal more damage and are more tanky. If a dps was flaking like cyx was on hog he'd just get snapped like a twig. Just because you're forced to have DPS in the team comp now doesn't make DPS any more useful. The most useful thing you can do on DPS (in high level games) is either "tank" by making space with mei or just be annoying and hope you distract them.
It's not that the players are struggling, it's just a tank carry meta. Those same dps players are also popping off on tank. Big chunk of the tank leaderboards are dps mains.

@@DDracee reaper, hanzo, and bastion are played alot as well. my point is that in 222, there's no third tank or just tacking on a zen to make up for lack of damage or picks from the dps. comps are WAAAAAY more linear than ever before(outside of hard goats meta), meaning role specific play has more value than ever.
unfortunately alot of dps players before 222 would just swap to an off tank(hog or zarya) if they were feeding on dps, and generally preform fine. since role lock was introduced, obviously that can't happen anymore, so dps have to learn to adapt ON THEIR ROLE now. unfortunately too many of them only play 1 - 2 dps heroes and never learn other's while tank and support mains have pretty much always learned most heroes for that role(lucio, mercy, moira, baptiste being pretty much mandatory to know).
let me be clear that this probably only counts for anything under masters, but have heard similar complaints from multiple top 500 and pro players/streamers.

Reaper and bastion, the other meta dps, are complete braindead heroes. You'd barely see a difference if a diamond or gm is playing. You can't carry or do more work, you just try to not fuck up. Mei can carry pretty hard, but that's only because she's filling the role of a tank which misses the entire point, you aren't going to get medals or fire by doing good walls.
If a DPS is throwing, you can still win, if a tank or support is throwing, it's gg go next. I've had games in GM where the DPS would just emote each other and meme around or just 1v1 each other ignoring the team fights rofl. It's actually pitiful that the only impactful DPS are more braindead then brig or just a space maker that deals less damage then an actual tank.
