I'm glad Gentaro got some special treatment, he deserves it. So hard to watch my sweet boy not be his usual playful self. The look on Kintaro's face showed he was contemplating how to steal one of those carrots. I'm glad Genki got some of the cucumber.

Don't gorillas in the wild eat mostly leaves from trees? There are no vegetable gardens in the jungle. I think they eat very well at this zoo. And they also get fruit sometimes too
@@angelagreathouse7274 Yes, they eat leaves, stems, bamboo shoots, fruits, ants, & termites in the wild. I would think that some of that nutrition would have to come from somewhere else, maybe the vegetables since they aren’t in the wild. No one said they didn’t get fed well. Just some variety.

Alot of people are saying they should give the others some too. We are only seeing a 10 minute video. Im sure the others got some veggies too but they had to personally hand gentaro his food so they could make sure he actually ate it and that the others didnt eat it before he could get any.
Gentaro's lethargy is really scary. It could be from so many different causes. But to see him lethargic, inactive, having a decreased appetite and no real energy, to me is quite concerning. For him to not engage with Kintaro and play is highly unusual and obviously an alarm. The extremely high heat, humidity, heat index, and the predicted UV indexing is EXTREME [1-10, extreme ultra violet radiation 11-13] I'm certain that has a lot to do with this.

I’m hoping 🤞that’s it’s his cainines coming thru. If u watch how he eats, it’s really careful. Once he bites with his front teeth, there are times he chews with them, before rolling the food to the back teeth.

I wonder if gorillas are similar to humans when cutting new teeth. Those canine teeth may be growing getting ready to come in. People will still get a fever and feel bad when their permanent teeth are coming in even when our molars are getting ready. Hum just a thought I had. I dont know

I really hoped they'd actually bring Gentaro inside and be checked by a Veterinarian [if they even staff a Vet?] It could be from heat related sickness; low energy, lethargy, not really eating, not engaging in his regular everyday playing with Kintaro, and sleeping A LOT! His body temperature? Are the keepers checking their core body temperatures🌡 ? Has he been seen drinking water? Like how Kintaro drinks a whole bottle given by his keeper. ••The extremely high heat index for Kyoto, along with UVI radiation level of extreme (10-13), was & is predicted for that area. ••Remember, there is no natural air circulation, wind, or breezes that flow through their outdoor enclosure. ••It is just stagnant hot air & extremely intense sun's rays that are heating up the metal surfaces, too. ••They've got no real relief from exposure, except indoors. ••If they (zoo officials) would actually do the work asap & provide real flora (thick bushes & high leafy trees) or a leafy tree, that could create a natural canopy. ••It would be cooler for them, like it naturally is in central Africa, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, DRC, and Equatorial Guinea ...where they come from. ••The heat index from very high humidity in Kyoto, too, makes it feel well over 100°-113°F with no flowing air! ••That area is expecting even higher temps this weekend and next week! ••Monday's weather prediction per: AccuWeather®️ RealFeel® 113° RealFeel Shade™ 104° Max UV Index 11 Extreme Wind SW 6 mph ••It's crazy record setting global heat. ••It's expected to be warmer over the next weeks, months, and next summer, too. 10:04
The windows also retain the heat and even reflect it. I'm surprised they are able to be on the iron beams unless the misters are cooling it. Will continue to be extremely hot there the next few days... Heat stroke affects animals too.

I’m hoping 🤞that’s it’s his cainines coming thru. If u watch how he eats, it’s really careful. Once he bites with his front teeth, there are times he chews with them, before rolling the food to the back teeth.

I wonder if gorillas are similar to humans when cutting new teeth. Those canine teeth may be growing getting ready to come in. People will still get a fever and feel bad when their permanent teeth are coming in even when our molars are getting ready. Hum just a thought I had. I dont know
I agree. He's holding his head at the end of the video. That could be nerve pain from his teeth/gums. We've all been there. Hopefully this is all that's at issue. Feel better soon our sweet boy ❤️❤️

I really hoped they'd actually bring Gentaro inside and be checked by a Veterinarian [if they even staff a Vet?] It could be from heat related sickness; low energy, lethargy, not really eating, not engaging in his regular everyday playing with Kintaro, and sleeping A LOT! His body temperature? Are the keepers checking their core body temperatures🌡 ?
Has he been seen drinking water?
Like how Kintaro drinks a whole bottle given by his keeper.

The windows also retain the heat and even reflect it. I'm surprised they are able to be on the iron beams unless the misters are cooling it. Will continue to be extremely hot there the next few days... Heat stroke affects animals too.
