My high school used both U-MMT and U-MHU for the noisy alarms...but I gotta warn ya...they set the alarms so loud in my high school that these alarms are capable of rupturing your eardrums if you're not careful. The solution; DO NOT install a U-MHU (let alone, any noisy alarm) in a small classroom.
My middle and HS did the same with Pyrotronics devices (think they are still in service last time I checked) After initiation, each system was programmed to have have an 8 second delay (only Strobes flashed) till the horns turned on went off which was pretty intresting programmable setting.
@@adamk9652 in my high school, the only fail-safe I ever got if I was unfortunate enough to witness a spontaneous alarm would be that, sometimes, the alarm would sound in the hallway first before the classroom due to a poor sync (which is against fire code...but on the other hand, this fire code violation had actually saved me in some situations).
@@LoyalmoonieProductions yeah that fire alarm fail definitely would be convenient enough to put on headphones or something lol. Tbh the Notifier system (Advances) in my 2nd HS hurt a ton more than the Pyrotronics system of my Middle School and 1st HS. For the first ever 2nd HS drill, I shot up out of my chair with enough force to push it over when the alarms went off. Paired with the higher ceilings and acoustics of a 1960s building and the loud volume (Would amusingly change the candela selection amusingly with each sound off of the horn) That system was the bain of my existence.
This system test is also historical to me as my Middle School had these alarms only diffrence was that the Pull stations were Harrington Signal Inc T Bars with the Key locks and System Sensor Smoke detectors and after my final year pretty much the whole system was replaced except for the Horn Stobes
My elementary school has a Siemens fire finder system with either UMHUs or UMHSTs with the Pulse coding. It was really cool, yet really loud, they also have an XLS voice evac in the gym and rebranded ZNSs in the new library area. Man, I miss that system.
6:49 Audible silence is not code complaint as of the 2013 NFPA 72 code book. It was ruled out as it sends mixed signals to the hearing impaired. This is something that is able to be grandfathered into modern code however.
hmm i think bg community center did use this siemens system though but hornstrobes I wish I thas speaker stobe with siemens voice evac that came with it. but never mind that it is supposed to be freerun without being synced it is supposed to be smarter sync with the nac though. but originally it was actually faraday before cerberous pyrotronics was rebrand and rebrand again to siemens.
I don't remember what year it is but some few years ago, in North America (I think, at least to ADA specs) that both strobes and horns need to mute upon Signal Silence because those who are hard of hearing need to be able to discern when the alarms have stopped along with hearing-abled peers.
Those are the same exact fire alarms that were in my school in second grade there is so annoying even they went off in the morning when I was doing my school work and it jumps scared me
Why does the red one and the white one kinda look the same but in different colors? Like, the red one having withe lettering and the white one having red lettering. Is that color inversion or not? I just want to know.
I wouldn’t make a tin foil catch on fire because 1, I’m scared of fire and 2, I don’t want to accidentally burn the house down and 3, I’m not going to do vandalism
@@FireAlarmDude5967it is. you would set the UMHU’s to steady, then have the panel code it to 60BPM. however setting them to steady would kill the sync that they have.

Test idea: old school Wheelock voice evac system with whatever pulls you think fit.

I’m sure you know by now the red horn strobe is a U-MHST-MCS. It’s a sync-only horn strobe.
Which one’s better these are the other ones they are like the mechanical horns.
Lol the 2002 addition to my middle school originally had U-MHU’s on continuous. It SUCKED. The whole building has Advances on code 3 now.
And how do you have those two horns hooked up outside.
My old middle school used to have ummts and est Horn Strobes and simplex horn Strobes outside
what happened to the monthly emergency light tests?
