Toby says let me out ,great stuff Chet enjoy your snow storm.
Sounds like great weather😜👍👍👍
Yea it gets interesting driving in the snow in the country.
I don't blame ya Toby mad man behind the wheel. Poor thing scared to death.
We love the Toby Head Bonk for the end of the video!
The other thing a lot of people who don’t drive in snow don’t know, is snow that is wind blown (drifted) it can get blown in really hard and it can make the snow banks extremely hard. Making it very easy to get stuck.
I am glad to hear the Big Swede talk louder. Thank you!!
Eric, helpful hint for the future; a file only cuts in the forward direction.
Good video thanks
The look on Big Swedes face when Chet said, " close the 'V'. The 'V'". Priceless!
The Toby dap; nice touch!
Great video guys, We love Toby !!!!!
Did you forget to cage the chamber? Lol.Ex truck mechanic here.Usually the chamber spring breaks and punchers the diaphragm. The tool on the side of the chamber goes in the hole that the air was coming out of.You find the slot then turn it to lock it in.The slot will be cockeyed because of the broken spring but it will help with what's left. You turn the nut to compress the spring. This takes the brake pressure off so you can take the pins out. Then you also cage the new chamber to ease the reinstall.
yes, i think they did forget to cage it, very dangerous stuff. I hope Chet and the Big Swede see this, so next time they avoid getting hurt!
Chet here is an idea, take a quality one gallon zip loc bag, write all of your needed information on it with a black sharpie felt tip pen, put in your content and you can save it from year to year to compare the yields, be sure to write on them " Grandpa please "DO NOT THROW AWAY..." problem solved...
Take a shop rag clean the seal of the garage door then apply thin film of motor oil with another rag and your garage door will never freeze down for the winter season do annualy.
Great video Chet Dougo and Big Swede
Nice episode with the snowy weather and shopwork 😄😄 just like we do here. //SWEDEN
Love Toby.
13:39 Toby is very intrigued 😂
That's the day I was driving down 23 from St. Cloud. Got stuck behind a semi the whole 40 mile drive. Nothing but whiteout the whole way.
Hope Toby got a treat after he got home … Great video bud !
Thanks for showing the snow and how bad it is or was.
here in remote locations in alaska they have big poles on either side so you know you're still on the road. also so the plows know where to go. right now we're a little under 100 inches of snowfall in interior alaska. But some parts of alaska can get 30-40 feet. One time I drove from Fairbanks to Anchorage in a blizzard in a ford focus. noone else was on the road the whole 300 miles. If i had stopped to sleep i would've woken up in a snowbank. I saw a tornado of snow that day lol. That little ford focus just plowed snow all the way back to fairbanks but made it. Just didn't have any oil left in the engine. Also kicked about 600 pound block of ice off the back when i got to Nenana to refuel.
Yes Toby looked like he was ready to get out…. Lol
Need to give Toby a road blanket or toy lol then he will be better travelling
watching this on 2/19/2023 as we wait for a 2 - part snow storm coming into SE MN this week. Those days of driving rural roads to and from school - and counting how many poles I could see in the white outs. You go a lot faster than I do! Poor puppy! Toby needed a blanket in the back seat!
Love the vids keep up the good work I hope you see this and have a amazing rest of the day I can’t wait tell you post because there’s no one on here like you like I said love the vids
Man i love watching your videos in in end stage heart failure and i wantch ever video so i can see stuff i hope to doin again
There's toby! Such it up toby, twice a daysnot bad
Thanks Chet, makes me happy to be in Las Vegas, 60 today, little wind, no snow at all.
Remove the pins first with the brakes release or back off the slack adjusters takes about 20 to minutes to change one ☝️
By Tobster :) :) ..I am not kidding , If you would like to Bring the Tobster to Cape Cod ma in the summer to play on our beach with our dogs , we would would love it :) :) :)
thank you Chet for another great video. Wish you were driving slower...51 o my. Have a great night and please be careful driving tomorrow. Thank you
16:35 - let him ride in the front, he should be happier. Give him a treat every time he gets in the car.
Your drive home looks just like my drive to work this morning. In sunny Alberta. Yes Haw !!!!!
Seeing you drive your Ram thru the snow made me think, I have always had a truck for the last 45 years. I have had a lot of them, and I'd have to say the 2021 Ram Rebel 4X4 with a 5.7 Hemi I have now is probably my favorite so far. Plenty of power, not bad on gas, and really comfortable and nice to drive. I'd say after a year I still love it.
Get a mesh dog crate and secure it in the back seat and Toby will enjoy riding more. Dogs typically don't feel secure on the seat where they slide. Love the videos with you two keep them coming!
When I was in High School ( Early 60s) They flooded a parking lot at school and taught us how to drive on ice.
I noticed that you guys install most of your connecting hardware "dry". Kill the corrosion struggle bus by installing hardware with a corrosion prevention compound. Choices are for specific uses...Solid Film Lubricant (SFL), MOLYLUBE, CPCs, etc.
When I was a hiredman and had conditions like you had Chet but they were alot worse than yours Chet but I would have to go north 2.5 miles north on gravel to the hwy and then go west7 miles on the highway and there would be times I would open my door to follow the yellow line to town and then call my wife to see if we needed anything from the grocery store or I would fill my truck up with gas cuz I would have to buck the snow drifts across the road, but when I went home from town it was easy to go 2.3 miles cuz the county dug the ditches out and raised the road up and the snow would just blow over the road and the road usually stayed cleared but it just depended which way the wind was blowing.
Enjoyed your video Chet! Hope you had a safe trip home!!! So sorry Toby didn't enjoy his ride! Wear safety glasses!!
👍👍'sup...👀.. Thanks for the video fella's.
Safe travels!
I love seeing toby atleast once a video sometimes yall are to busy to show him but its cool to know hes always at the shop with you while you work
Yes, for sure. He gets bad separation anxiety. He is a great dog.
Idea flavored norther chill .
Put a blanket on the seat for Toby
Love that Toby did the sign off! Great video & ya gotta love Grandpa pitching in.😉
Never Seize should be your friend
Brake chambers normally come with a new clevis and pin. Unless someone robbed it off that one. Wear your safety glasses when grinding. Be safe and carry on.
That snow is coming this way
Over here we don't have snert. Snud is the flavour of the day.
Thanks for another great video Chet. It was interesting and enjoyable.
Thanks for doing the filming of the bad winter dry. Have memories there. Can’t hardly see the road and drifts and all that good stuff. Winter weather can be tough to deal with. Glad you got home ok Chet, Toby too. Hi to Toby, good to see him.
Glad you got a plasma cutter. You will enjoy using that. Is one super handy tool to have. You will be glad you got that.
The story about grandpa shelling the test corn is a good one. He thought he was helping of course. Oh well, try again this year and hide the buckets.
Rust and trucks seem to go together. Hard to work on with everything rusted up. Sorry that was the problem it is. Keep at it and soon you and Eric will have it fixed. The road salt is really hard on equipment that is for sure.
The used digger you got looks to be a nice one yet. Brody did a good job in converting the shovels over to a better system. Kept him busy while all of you were gone. Looks nice. Good job Brody.
About it I guess. Will be quiet now. Ha.
You all take care and be safe. Careful in the snow.
Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks for everything.
The Iowa farm boy.
Steve.
I hope Toby had his safety squint going in the shop and, Toby wasn't the only one concerned when you were driving home. Have a great week. 👍
Keep some treats in the vehicle for Toby and give him one every time he gets in.
Sometime soon, let Toby give us an update on MN rising farm cost due to fuel, seed, fertilizer, etc, looking ahead to 2022 season. Also Toby food cost and MY cost in MN.
Seeing that drive home reminds me why I moved to Kenya 20 years ago. Good luck with the snow Chet.
Welcome to the 21st century. Modern tools are a wonderful addition to any shop
if you put a dog bed or a blanket on back seat you may well find he travels better just a surgesting chet stay safe
My dogs are in my suburban no matter what , where ever I go , even if they sit for hours lol , at work in the body shop greeting people as they come in all day ... I own an 80k sq foot body shop , and they wonder in the place all day , gotta love our puppies :) :) :) :)
Chet, I was told by an older guy once to never take a brake chamber apart. I have changed them though. Great addition to the farm with the plasma cutter, you will love having that around. Toby looked like he was over the ride in the truck lol. Great to see you and the Big Swede again.
If I ever get my hands on a brake chamber I know what I will do.
I never messed with brake chambers and brake pads and etc we just let the shop uptown the guy we knew and let him fix what was wrong as he worked on a fleet of trucks daily and he would fix our trucks after hours he would look at the truck and tell us what to get and then he would fix our trucks after hours the company he worked for.
Those are called spring brake chamber, or emergency brake chamber, the front chamber has a massive spring inside that applies the brakes if air is lost, the rear chamber, closest to slack adjuster, is the service chamber, it applies the brakes when you use brake pedal. Sometimes we would replace the service diaphram by caging the spring with caging bolt, but Never , ever take the spring chamber apart, very dangerous, and takes special equipment to rebuild
quite the beard there Chet, knarly, lol
Great video Chet 🇺🇲
It was a beautiful day in Las Vegas today guys! Tho heck with that snow!!!!!
Yet another validation to the "buy semis from the south, tractors from the north" point
Great videos fellas keep it up
The part of the brake chamber that has the crimped band is the spring. The one with the bolt is ok to unbolt. That's where the pancake is.
Grew up in SW Minnesota and I remember busting through those drifts across the country roads in the winter time. I always carried a big handiman jack and a scoop shovel with me for those times when I didn't quite make it through. The shovel to clear a path the last few feet and the jack for those times when the snow took me into a ditch. 1)shovel snow, 2) jack up the front or rear as high as possible and then shove the car off the jack toward the road 3) repeat... until I was back on the road.
Toolbox tour
Thanks again for all of your videos! I have watched every one and still always look forward to the next one. You guys are awesome!
Great video 👍👍
Poor Toby . What a beautiful baby. Chet , Eric .. very entertaining. Please be careful and stay safe . Terrible weather. I’d bet Eric misses Florida. Today it was 80F and windy . Nice day. Paul-St Petersburg, Fl
This is how winter should look like! We had and still have nice one here in Europe! :)
Chet and Eric that was fantastic and Tobie thank you for sharing and your time was really great you guys got it going on.
Reminds me of days long gone growing up in Rochester MN and some of the blizzards I had to drive...good times!
We just don't see that in Alabama! Thankfully! We're really close to planting time!
Don’t see Toby today, a snow day again. 😂 good to see you and help with watching the videos. Looking good ole boys.
To many times like a damn fool I drove in Iowas winter whiteouts, white knuckle, butt puckering driving conditions. Always made sure I was prepared with supply’s if ever to go in ditch. Toby didn’t have time to smile at the end of filming he just wanted to get into the warmth and safety of his own home. Be Safe 👍💪🇺🇸
Chet this is my opinion I like deep frost, Cheap way to break up hard pan.
People watching from southern states wondering how your driving so calmly through the winter storm lol normal day for the northern people
My beagle was the same way, hated driving.
Sorry for your loss of data for your corn, but you have got to find it funny that Grandpa saw all that corn 🌽 in buckets and still had the machine to take care of it. It probably brought back memories of the way they use to do things.
Great videos keep it up 👍
Toby would probably enjoy his vehicle rides if he had a warm blanket to lay on.
Toby looked like he was ready to blow chunks. : - /
Tobe is thinking let me out of here you crazy driver lol.
the Tobster made an shot lol
Use Kroil oil next time on rusty/frozen bolts, it frees up the rust and makes your life alot better lol
Keep them Clovis pins lubed or your brakes will drag. Also buy some hose repair kits, then you can just cut off the swivel end and put on a new one easy as pie. Have questions call Central Trailer Service in the Des Moines IA area 👍🏻
Try transporting your dog in a smaller kennel that has a favorite blanket in it. Or letting him ride on your lap.
Toby is such an awesome boy. We love him. KROIL is what ya need for all that seized up hardware. Order ya a case. Best stuff around. :)
When in doubt power out!
Thats what the caging bolt is for
Just change the piggyback, just put the cage bolt in chamber and take the clamp off, loosen hoses first, lots faster
Benefit for snow/ moisture makes a better growing season, always nice to see snow now then in April.
We had this up in Canada yesterday I spent an hour digging my mother out of the snow bank and she was a hundred feet from the driveway lol
I bet that was a fun going home. Stay safe and warm
The side that doesn't have bolts on the band is the side with the big spring. they made it that way so you have to be really determined to hurt yourself.
Thank you for sharing Chet. Always love watching you content. Oh and it’s a Chinese Finger Trap!!! 😀😀
That reminds me, I have trailer brakes and drums to replace as soon as the snow leaves.
Ol drake pod my favorite thing on a Simi truck there are easy changing if you know what you are doing
