I like that the Father isn’t made out to be a villain, he’s protective of his son yet still wants him to be free. His motives feel kinda justified too, after seeing his wife just willingly let herself be taken by gravity, he’s scared the same will happen to his son. The scene where he tells his son the gravity boots are unisex was just super wholesome.

Her death was the opposite of heroic.
Was she worried that she would drag the child with her?

No matter your mass, gravity affects everything equally, so doesn't make any sense lol

There was quite literally no reason why the wife suddenly had to let go of anything she could have been pulled back down they could have just walked to a building there was absolutely nothing stopping her from holding on and yet she just willingly let herself die

I think the father is in the right here, he witnessed trauma first hand in his wife letting go. He is probably petrified of Constantine going too, especially in his unsavory conditions. I mean, the guy is having nightmares about the worst happening what seems like a familiar basis. Plus, he was working on a solution, which shows neither he is happy with the situation either.
Yeah, the real villain in this movie is Isaac Newton, cause in this movie he didn't invent gravity
If gravity weakens, everyone will walk around like Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin. Not float into the sky as if everybody is pumped up with helium.

With the physics in this movie you can make perpetual motion machines easily. If you have masses under 120kg that bind together at the top of a chamber they will drop. Energy can be collected either from the impact at the bottom of the container or via magnetic field. A mechanism separates the masses once they impact the bottom of the container.
Smort
Well energy is still being used to separate the masses, so the binding energy of the masses will equal the energy being produced.
@@YashRaj-xv2yo It can be as simple as a latch engaging and disengaging. Conservation of energy isn't preserved in the depicted universe.
@@YashRaj-xv2yo I’m pretty sure just like tying a 2 kg steel cube and a 119 kg steel cube together tightly is enough to make them float by this movie’s logic, which definitely takes less energy than lifting both if them 200 meters in the air. So it isn’t like normal gravity where all energy extracted will not be a net positive.
Like I think just a 119 kg steel ball and a 2 kg steel ball could be tied to each other with an automated rope, which when pulled tight enough would fit under this movies

Everyone comments on the death of Konstantin's mother, but it seems to me that she didn't just let go of her hand then in the field, that's just the way the father's dreams show it. In reality, things could have been much more tragic.

Realistically the objects will just stay where they are unless thrown up
Yes there is literally nothing pushing those objects up and they suddenly float up, in reality it would be like the moons gravity or mars(idk how much gravity has decreased in this film)
yep, and since the gravity weakened (and not gone), they would go up for a bit ONLY if they jumped (or got a random upwards push), but they would eventually come down, even if the gravity is really really really low but not gone.
Exactly my guy the absence of gravity does not make you fly up in the sky because that would make it the reverse function of gravity

This would only make sense if the moon was replaced with a more massive object. Whenever a more massive object orbits it will pull on that side it's currently above. The earth is massive enough to already keep us on the ground
Bruh Imagine just how massive the moon would be to do that
Yeah I was about to say that. So that must mean the earth's gravity got reversed. Pushing away anything under 120 kg.
@@maximumforce8275 but the thing is, gravity pushes and pulls on everything equally, everything should have been pushed away or everyone should have been pulled towards the earth. On top of that, gravity cannot just reverse direction and if gravity weakened everyone would just bounce rather than certain people floating away.
@@limburgishmapping7166 yeah. I didn't mean completely reverse. I mean that it's still has a weak pull meaning only heavy objects will manage to stay grounded but has a stronger push. That's the only way to explain this. Also how water stays on earth or other liquids. Because if there actually were no gravity people wouldn't just float up. They would stay still (not actually because the earth is also moving but if it still moves then atleast for a while they wont appear to be moving) until someone or something provided force upon them. Though due to air resistance, they wont simply move like that forever. Though it still might be easy to send yourself to space.

Movie: Gravity weakens
Anyone with half a neuron: Even if it did, it would certainly not work this way
If it weakened we would still stick to the ground, just not as much.
But what if we consider the earth rotation having the same speed and that causing a centrifugal force that is not balanced by the weakened gravity? The earth would be throwing things to the universe. I think this is a possible scenario in that case.
@@somdutroy centrifugal force is also directly proportional to mass,
So mw²R>GMm/d², and since mass cancels out, there will be no such benchmark for mass, and everyone fall of at those latitudes of the the earth for which the above relation is true. In such cases people would run towards the pole 9f the earth since the centrifugal will be distinctly small.
@@YashRaj-xv2yo Here is the thing though. You are assuming, that is how gravity works in their world.
What if the theory using gravity constant G was a function of the masses instead of a constant? What if G(m, M) is higher with higher m and M? Then G(m, M) M/d^2 > w^2R for m>120 and G(m, M) M/d^2
The earth rotates at 35,000 mps, damaging the moon will only cause the oceans to mildly drown a few coastal towns and markets. The only way to doom humanity is if the earth did a stupid and spin at 2,500 mps, anyone suffering form 1,000 pound obesity with survive...for the short term. While everyone else prays the cosmic radiation kills them faster than the boiling void.
This is a scenario I used to imagine all the time, and I can't believe there's actually a movie about it.

@@Thematic2177 Then fat people should be the one floating as they are less buoyant than slim one (fat is less dense than muscle and bones, so lower body fat % means denser body)
Unironically, if the earth's gravity were to weaken significantly, the bigger issue would be the change in atmospheric pressure. I'm not about to try and calculate the numbers on the spot, but I'd be willing to bet blood vessels would burst at the very least.
lmao no, pressure would weaken not increase, you dont explode in space so why you should there xd, difference in pressure is too little
@@no1uno388 you DO explode in space. The atmospheric pressure surrounding you decreases, and the pressure applied to the inside of you eventually exceeds it. When the difference between the two pressures exceeds what is allowable by the insulating material, the material bursts. In the case of blood vessels, they're VERY sensitive to pressure, which is why you can burst your vessels by vomiting, or coughing too hard.

The main plot of this movie makes no sense? How does a 1/5 of the moon being destroyed equal a loss of gravity? Maybe it may affect the oceans and weather on earth but how does it affect the gravity. Also, wouldn't the chunk of moon that was destroyed be orbiting the earth? Maybe in the form of a ring?
Its not part of the plot its background of the story, like magic in fantasy settings

also there's a bunch of shit wrong, according to the trumpet fall scenario- there's an active repulsive force other than the earths gravity that causes it to lift upwards again to the woman. If gravity of the earth was weakened, stuff would simply fall down slowly due to less acceleration and not behave as if an anti gravitational force is acting on them.
Exactly! Whoever made the movie needs a good science book smack in the face
It is you who doesn't understand science. Learn about hot air balloon, blimps, and helium balloons to learn about anti gravity.
@@mrbojangles9841 Clearly you know nothing either. Those do not "defy" gravity. And there is no anti gravity. What you are bringing up is density. Helium balloons, hot air balloons, blimps, etc float because the air in them is less dense than the surrounding air, thus allowing them to float to a certain altitude. That doesn't make them defy gravity. It's like throwing a hammer and basketball in the ocean to see which one floats, in which the basketball will float and the hammer sinks. Why? Density and bouyancy, not anti gravity.
