      Matty Ghost so what else is new? Buicks are the best selling cars in China. They are made there and new GM parts are made there and sent to the US. Volvo is now owed by a Chinese company, made in China, imported to the US and an American plant is being built to make the Volvo here.

      Harley sells around 45,000 US made bikes a year in Europe. Due to the trade war Trump started, they are now subject to a 30% tax entering Europe. Instead of losing that market it is shifting assembly of the bikes it sells in Europe to a plant in Europe. Yes, Americans will loss jobs. If Harley does nothing they will loss their market share in Europe and Americans will also be out of work. They are not talking about moving any of the bikes they sell in the US overseas.

      CPN ... Are you high on drugs or are you just a bot .. Harley has been wanting to move its over seas production to europe for the last couple of years . Why? . Because of the tariffs that have been placed on their product they feel they can dodge that unfair trade tactic . That's the way all the company's have been handling the problem with the unfair tariffs that have been placed o our goods for decades . That's exactly what Trump is working on has said he would take care of and is a big part of why he has been elected .What Harley has done is due to the timing of their announcement is try to blame their decision to move on TRUMP , instead of staying here in the very country that has made them who they are . They are traitors and the American public is showing them that at this minute if you look t the stock market . They better not let the door hit them in the ass because I think that if you watch their will not be much to move . As far as the US falling in the hands of Russia I cannot believe that you even said that . Russia is a spec of shit on our American shoes . China might indeed worry about all the falling countries that have formed the EU together they represent a trade market of probably what China does with Russia .
      But I will say this the US is the one that everybody has been sucking hind tit off of for decades and guess what that shit is dead . And they are all I mean all China included waking up to that fact . That piggy bank that everybody has been digging into for billions of dollars a year to every damn open hand with a sob story or a terrorist to hide has been put away , China is a collapsing country and they are headed to the great depression of their own if they don't get smart .
      The US and Russia and China will soon be partners if you don't see that in the future I can't fix stupid

      CPN what a load of horse droppings. The best selling car in China is the Buick. Many Buicks and the GM parts they make are imported to the USA. More horse droppings as Russia hasn't got its clutches on the US.

      T Ko. It's not the reach of its market that makes it globalist. A company can be world wide without being globalist in ideology at least by its current definition which equates it with political and economic Neoliberalism.
      Not saying Polaris is globalist or isn't but does have its HQ in Minnesota and there are manufacturing plants in the U.S. making Indian motorcycles.

      Perry Holmes - Isn't funny how these Trump supporters don't seem to care that Trump and Ivanka still make 99% of their merchandise in China and other 3rd world countries?
      Not to mention we already tried the "Be American, Buy American" with the Smoot-Hawley tariff and living standards dropped significantly for the poor and middle class as COGS rose and income did not. Tariffs are just a form of tax that consumers pay for, it contradicts what Trump supporters believe they stand for. There are other ways to encourage USA made products, adding a tax on goods isn't good for America.

      Trump imposes tariffs on Europe, Europe retaliates. Ends result is Harley is hit with an extra 30% on its bikes; $100 Million costs per year on the 45,000 or so bikes it makes in America and exports to Europe. They are going to now assemble those bikes in Europe. They are the victims of a trade war Trump started. The american employees who use to assemble those 45,000 are also the victims. They are not talking about shifting the bikes they sell in the US out of the US.

      Lies, Harley already had plans to move manufacturing to Thailand long before any tariffs were announced. Harley is biting the hands that feed them. Reagan saved Harley with tariffs on foreign bikes in the 80s. This is how they thank us. Harley would have died 40 years ago without us bikers who wanted an American Bike and Reagan. Down 12% from the previous year. The rest of the world wasn't keeping Harley alive for decades. If Reagan hadn't put tariffs on foreign motorcycles in the 80s Harley would have collapsed and shut the doors. I wonder how Harley will get by if they lose 20-30% of their sales in the US...

My self can not count the number of times a Harley has been represented in the motion picture industry. i purchased a honda. could never afford a Harley at the time. HOWEVER i have never seen so many Harley's being sold right now. My personnel take on this is that if Harley does move out the value of the bike will drop greatly. Thus the reason so many people are selling theirs now. I would.

    BS, Harley Davidson, know this isn’t about them. So why make it about them. Hell that right, that the soul of bikers, take that bike apart , rebuild her and make her better with anything they have. We can’t always afford brand new machines parts. So we use what we have , old parts, rebuild parts. That The bikers soul and Harley Davidson just happen to be there and cash in. A lot of us are VETERANS and Americans we just don’t jump ship, just because we see room fill with water on a ship or a road wash out. We fixed and move on. I support the Americans vet and bikers of America. We don’t need no badge to show we love our country. JUST OUR RUNNING BIKE.

    Maybe somebody can explain this to me? Or maybe I got something wrong. My understanding is that HD has a manufacturing plant in the U.S. and has had to deal with U.S. steel import tariffs. Then various countries started levying tariffs on HD products. So for its U.S. customers, HD decided to continue manufacturing their product in the U.S, However, for other countries they decided to manufacture their product in Thailand. In this way, they are able to avoid U.S. steel imports as well as tariffs for their non-U.S. customers. This sounds perfectly reasonable to me unless, as I said, I got something wrong.

    • @EM-lc6mm
      @EM-lc6mm 6 років тому

      Not quite. They have plants in Brazil, Australia, Thailand that supply local markets. They use to make the bikes they sold in Europe in the US. Trump imposes tariffs on steel from EU, the EU retaliates. Ends result is a 30% tariff on bikes make in the US when being sold in Europe. They export around 45,000 bikes per year to Europe and the Middle East. To avoid the $100 Million a year in tariffs they are going to start assembling the bikes they sell in Europe in a European plant.

    • @richardmenke8551
      @richardmenke8551 6 років тому +5

      Harley was already planning ona plant overseas before President Trump even started talking about the tarrifs. Now Harley is just using that as an excuse to produce bikes overseas to try and show it justified.

    • @EM-lc6mm
      @EM-lc6mm 6 років тому +1

      They already have plants in Brazil, Australia and Asia that serve those regional markets. They opened those plants for business reasons not because of what the US president (Obama) was taking about. The shift of production for bikes destined to the European market was made for bushiness reason, namely new tariffs in Europe (that was in retaliation to Trump). The press found it financial filling and turned it into a story. I think Harley would have been happier to not move production or to move quietly with little public attention.

    • @priayief
      @priayief 6 років тому +1

      Richard Menke - I don't quite understand what you are saying ... what you're calling an "excuse to produce bikes overseas to try and show it is justified", seems to me to be a good reason to expand their overseas production.

    • @richardmenke8551
      @richardmenke8551 6 років тому

      The talks for moves was already in process before the tarrifs from President Trump were in play. They are using the tarrifs as an excuse to justify the move. You should look it up, I did and found out the move had nothing to do with the new tarrifs.

    Harleys sold in America will still be built in America, only the bikes sold on Europe and other markets will be built abroad, the reason for that is because it will cost 3k in taxes to export them from the US to those places, if the bikes cost more they will sell less, if they sell less they earn less, and the stockholders such as 401ks and investment funds get less returns, you guys do understand that right.

    Harley's sold in US are made in the US. Are they saying that companies should ignore basic economics and rather than buy parts based on quality and price they should buy more expensive and poorer quality parts just because they are made in the US?
    It is entirely normal for a large company with sales around the world to have production centres in different parts of the world - it is simple cost economics.

    The bikes sold in the US are still made in the US. With the tariff it was no longer possible to sell bikes to Europe (at a profit), so they had to set up a plant overseas to build bikes for that market (just like every car manufacturer does). Their only other option was to just stop shipping to Europe and fire US workers making them, become a smaller company and try to survive. What other option did they have?

    Guys who can't afford a fully American made bike are the most vocal. Do you guys not see the reason why the other companies went under? Harley is in business because they do what is necessary. Indian will be struggling in a couple of months, mark my words. Employed folk really bring feelings into business, why would you let your struggling company sink altogether just because you are trying to be patriotic? Americans have failed HD, not the other way around. If you cannot afford to run a business under certain conditions, then why continue wasting investors money? When Indian falls because they were patriotic, or hike service charges because you let the other companies fall because they were not "patriotic" enough, how will you afford the bikes?
    The biggest question that Americans are not asking right now is, now that you have shown your allies and companies how unreasonable you can be, what will stop those billionaires from empowering other communities and countries in order to increase their standings in the international market? The rest of the world combined is much bigger than the U.S domestic market, and the sales of your goods have been increasing internationally while declining domestically. These companies belong to private entities. They will all bail in due time, because, they are in the business of making profit, not business of patriotism. That is why you guys still thinking Canadas healthcare system is a joke as they get brilliant medical services while your companies charge so high that you cannot afford healthcare. You would rather buy a HD and keep their presence in the domestic market and the jobs too and taxes, than bring emotions into your decision and lose out altogether.
