    My '19 Volt Premier will get to full charge in 2 1/4 hours, at 240 volts and 32 amps.
    A lot of this is old information.

      This was a fabulous improvement that I wish would have been available years ago. It makes a huge different when charging out and about

    Bought my 2017 Volt LT recently, and after haggling with the dealer and taking into account the $7,500 federal tax credit I'll receive, the car came in new at just under $22K (exclusive of tax, title, and license). Also got 0.0% APR through GM financing. I have owned a lot of cars in my life, but this one is my favorite. I am not buying gas anymore, and have gotten my estimated all-electric range up to 75 miles/125 km by driving conservatively and using the regeneration paddle for braking. I also do not need to worry about range. The car drives and handles beautifully.

      I can't say enough about my '19 Volt Premier!
      It's been a fantastic car, well-optioned, comfortable, quick, and nimble.
      I absolutely love its efficiency!

    Nice! About 80% of Americans drive less than 50 miles per day. If they all drove Volts, or similar cars, they would typically use NO GAS at all. Great for the environment!

    • @jeffzahnd
      @jeffzahnd 8 років тому

      +Peter L still gotta use some gas... the gas generator kicks on even when the car is in the garage during startup. needs to heat the coolant to heat the batteries in the winter :(
      but all in all not to bad.

      @@jeffzahnd no.. that is ERDTT (Engine running Due To Temperature).. the engine will come on to heat it's coolant in order to help cabin heat has nothing to do with battery temperature. You can configure the outside temperature in which this occurs, or bypass entirely by modifying the sensor.
      The battery has an electric coolant heater. Battery would have to be 10F or colder typically for the engine to actually be needed

    Good job Chevy for not making it hideous like a Prius. That's how you get people to actually buy these things.

      Yet just like the first generation, this one doesn't sell. And Prius maintains it's grip on the bulk of the marketshare.

      +George Travers It has a bigger heater and better a/c now...It will use up more battery power but you can pre warm it while it is plugged in to solve that issue.

      +pennfootball71 Do you know if the 2016 Volt allow you run the heater overnight while charging? I hear you can't run the heater or AC while parked unplugged overnight as it will shut off automatically after like 30 minutes.

      Exactly! It looks exactly like my 2012 Honda Civic, except not as nice. I do own a 2015 Chevy Volt. The new Volt is getting away from it’s cool factor. It is more standard like a normal car. I like the weirdness of my 2015. Each to his own.

    Why won't any manufacturers make electric cars that look like normal cars? thats essentially why Tesla has been so popular. instead, they make these pseudo-futuristic designs that are just hideous and wonky

    • @Drive571
      @Drive571 8 років тому +1

      +rkky Few people bought the old hybrid Accords or Civics or Altimas because they looked the same as the standard cars. People seem to prefer making a futuristic statement when they are spending more money on an economy car. Also Teslas cost more than twice as much as this car, so those owners are making an even more brash statement: "I'm rich."

    Its not really Green none of them are when you take into account the expensive and very hard to get Rare arth elements that the largely electric cars use. The fully electrical cars like the Tesla never take into account the Greenhouse gases that are produced in the production of their electricity if Coal powered generators are used. Yes I dio know that there are some solar poered ones but they are very few and far between.

    • @stevewausa
      @stevewausa 9 років тому +6

      +Steven Lower There has been a steady amount of work done to reduce use of Rare Earth Minerals. The Union of Concerned Scientists have done a complete analysis of "cradle to grave" CO2 emissions and all electric cars in fact are cleaner than conventional gas cars even if coal-fired power plants are in the mix... see action.ucsusa.org/site/R?i=udTEjxoviCyV73TnlHCtCA

    • @chriscoulter3436
      @chriscoulter3436 9 років тому +3

      +Steven Lower I agree, However the efficiency of burning coal in massive generators is much more efficient then burning gas in a combustion engine. That being said I still think that there should be way more incentives for people and companies to invest in having solar panels, turbines on water streams and wind mills. The world needs to find a way to make sustainable energy. The difference that the everyday person can make will be to buy electric cars and perhaps even put a few solar panels on the roof of their house to help bring down their carbon footprint.

    • @jeremyloveslinux
      @jeremyloveslinux 9 років тому +2

      +Steven Lower The new volt doesn't use rare earths in its motors.

    • @bradcomis1066
      @bradcomis1066 8 років тому +4

      +Chris Coulter its true burning coal at a large scale is efficient, which helps electric cars achieve cleaner operation on a total scale. What I rarely hear mentioned and I think is interesting is how an electric car uses so much less energy to actually go down the road because of the efficiency of the electric motor. 80-90% efficiency with an electric motor vs 30-40% efficiency with internal combustion. Gasoline contains an amazing amount of energy, but the amount that is wasted to heat is just abominable!
