@@diane9496I agree with the 2nd part. Punk isn’t the same as he was 10 years ago, but no one is. He can still contribute in the ring and on the mic. The problem with AEW is that it’s full of guys who fly through tables with no storytelling and if you have a guy like Punk who tells stories, the ADD kicks in with these Zoomers and they can’t focus.
This is beautiful because his first return in 2021 brought me back for the first time since 2012❤️ glad he could do the same to you homie!

The crowd, the color scheme, the commentary, the bell to bell action, this felt like a completely different wrestling company. AEW should definitely keep the two products separate

Yeah the show looked slick and stylish.

After last week's dynamite, I want to see it on a shirt.
That stage set is gorgeous. The whole show felt 100% different from Dynamite! Which is what this needed to be.
Absolutely, its tough enough being on a Saturday night, so they need to differentiate it from Dynamite if its going to be worthwhile watching, otherwise its just going to become the Dynamite Light and nobody will tune in.
I loved Collision, but using Collision as a tool to weaponize and put down Dynamite isn't it. Dynamite is awesome, AEW is awesome, and Dynamite planted the seed for a Collision. So you will NEVER see me disrespecting Dynamite.

@@coke8045 Nor would any AEW fans. Dynamite was the first AEW Wrestling 📺🖥TV🖥📺 broadcast and it has the distinction of that. Each show brings something new and different. 💥💥Collision💥💥 isn't going to take over, but it may show fans a bit of a new look and show. AEW has been great since day one. There's been a few issues but overall the wrestlers have been able to BE THEMSELVES and not some creation from someone else's idiocy. AEW may "evolve" with a new show but the ones that came before it are still just as epic and awesome as ever.

Two huge returns in Chicago in one year
Ahh yes. Back when Collision was the A show of pro wrestling for like 6 weeks. Well lit building, fans going nuts, great matches. And now its the home for guys like komander and gravity who get beat like drums and botch in every single match. Yuup, Collision is never going to be this good again

They wanted him out plain and simple, when if they were business smart they could have made Tony and themselves a fat purse by turning it into a program but no. Tony is a money mark who got in way over his head. Cody was smart to jet out of there early, same with Jade, hell most want out the door. I like this version of Punk. The "Im happy to be here" version of Punk was fun for a moment. But with everything he achieved in AEW and all the news and drama about him since All Out he needed to push back and remind the world what he's all about. And he did. I can't wait to see what's to come next

What "Shooting"? It's all fake. This entire promo was planned and practiced and you could tell by the fact that he slipped up on the words at one point as well as the planted signs in the crowd. Just be a fan pal. You know nothing about what happens behind the scenes. When fans start repeating things they hear from their favorites on shoot interviews you sound more foolish than the fans who actually believe that wrestling is real.

What couple of cabbages
Collision felt like an old school wrestling show and a breath of fresh air. Less promos, less segments, building up talent and just pure wrestling. Really digging the vibe so far🔥

Since 2001 CM Punk has made a lot of noise, starting on the Independent scene, his matches with Raven, his trilogy with Samoa Joe, fighting Chris Hero for 90 minutes, and the list goes on and on. He is so much more than what a casual fan might know.

Collision was actually a very good show for its 1st production with an awesome main event. The ring itself gave me a slightly nostalgic, gritty WCW feel. Great art design all over for the show. And, of course, CM Punk came back and dropped a spicy promo with some pointed shots. This showcased what AEW is capable of.
Very strong production. I wondered about the commentators mix early in show but it did actually seem well mic'd.

Having CM Punk and The Hardys even at this age its a true blessing for any wrestling company. So much respect for these guys!

The Collision arena was freaking jam-packed. Damn! You just love to see it. This aired by 1 AM Nigerian time, but I just had to see this live. And my, was I not disappointed.

I was at this show last night. It felt so different than what AEW has been producing for the last few years on Dynamite and thats a good thing. It gives you a genuine option on shows you might want to attend and going in to PPVs it might even show a contrast on which matches are Dynamite and which are Collision

Even then you could have less and still have a hot crowd. But if your focus is who is in the seats and not what's happening in the ring why are you buying a ticket anyway?

Punk started winning on one of the Bucks, Bucks double team, and then Ace Steel jumped in. Apparently Kenny Omega grabbed Punk's dog during the fight and was bitten by Ace Steel. It's still not really known exactly how it all went down. Watch Promo Joe, he did some hilarious animations about in the style of South Park.

The stage, the ramp, the ring....well done AEW. Best looking production to date. As far as Punk goes I hope he comes back and makes a significant impact for the company. Why bring out the "belt" in the felt case if you don't intend to take it out and make it a talking point in the promo? Good first show overall.

If he showed the belt, held it over his head or anything like that, it could confuse the new members of the audience, if any, as to who the official champion was. This way, everyone knows what was in the bag, everyone knows what the situation is and there is also no confusion. Especially when we all know that someone on UA-cam or elsewhere would take a screen shot of him holding the belt an use it for a click bait thumbnail.
I'm guessing it's a new belt since it's too soon to take the AEW WHC off MJF and since CM punk never lost it he will be given a new belt.

Punk being back now is best for the company because let's be honest, regardless of who's to blame for what happened, the company noticeably suffered without him and if they can finally find a way to hash things out and work together, the resulting storyline would be one of the best in company history to date. This promo was his usual great stuff and the whole show including his match was fantastic, so I have high hopes for Collision as long as they continue to book it like this.

The commentary was a huge improvement. It was like night and day compared to Excalibur marking out and Schiavone laughing and contributing nothing. Kevin Kelly doesn't just spend the entire time screaming the names of obscure moves. It felt like a real wrestling broadcast

I haven't watched wrestling regularly in 20 years, and this is the first time in that time that I've really had hope that there will at least be consistent, weekly wrestling that is about psychology and kayfabe and people working safely but suspending my disbelief at least a little. That was a solid wrestling show from start to end. If that's a taste of the wrestlers on Collision, sign me up. Having Kevin Kelly as the announcer was just the icing on the cake. Best in the business in my view. It's so good to hear his voice again. And JR being there, even with a hoarse voice, for the main event was exactly what I needed.
Good, competitive main event match, given the time allotted and the fans get sent home happy. Well executed and booked show overall. Punk adds energy to AEW, no matter what side you're on. Now everyone has an opinion, which is even better. He can be like Bret Hart - get heat in some places and pops in others. The point is that you make people care and Punk makes people care.
AEW needs people outside of their little wannabe Kliq (pun intended) to care about what's going on if they're going to be a long term success in the wrestling business. Whether I love or hate Phil Brooks as a person is irrelevant. Was I invested in tonight's matches for the most part from start to finish? Yes. I was. So, good job, Tony Khan, good job, Phil Brooks and good job, AEW. Credit where credit is due. I'm sure you'll get some praise from that Louisville guy who knows wrestling better than anyone, too.
Agreed. I know that he just wants to focus mostly on teaching right now (which is why he's only working part time with ROH as the Pure Wrestling Champion) but a veteran technical master like Shibata would fit this show perfectly.

This is one of my favorite promos by him. The "happy to be back and be here" CM Punk was cool, but I just LOVE it when he's got some bitterness to work off of. The apology line was fucking great and has so much truth behind it. I hope this leads to a heel turn or just an all-around grittier character for Punk. I'm still hoping for a Bryan/Punk program, especially now. That would be incredible.
