    Love these kinds of posts, as a guy in my thirties with a full-time job; never touched coding / unity or blendr before, constantly feeling overwhelmed / feeling ecstatic at the slightest bit of progress, it's nice to see that consistency and effort pays off. Like anything in life I guess :D

    Yooo I really like the style of this video. Very slick editing. Also, I recognized Protect the Dungeon out of nowhere haha. Didn't know you made that game, but I remember it (probably from a 'Best of Game Jam' video) haha

    It's fascinating to see your timeline as an indie game developer! I personally think seeing all the unfinished projects you've made really shows the challenging parts of game development. And the video perfectly demonstrates that, keeping me engaged the whole way through with your storytelling and editing. You've earned yourself a new subscriber! Congrats dude!
    PS: By any chance, can we get in touch? I would really love to learn something from you, and I can give you some feedback on any of your future projects!

    I notice a few times that MashUp switched a project from pixelart to hand-drawn art. I wonder why that is. It seems like his pixel-art-based projects have a much higher completion rate.

    • @MashUpGames
      @MashUpGames  2 роки тому +3

      Not necessarily, there are a few games I finished that were hand-drawn, it's just that for my big projects I wanted to make them hand-drawn because I want more hand-drawn games in the world aha

    Hearing your teardown of each game is really useful to hear. I'm glad to hear that you're still keen on building some of them. I love Cardallion as a concept, it's superb. Would love to see more of it. It is tough working and doing game dev at the same time. I'm going to get on with Clomper now... as your final words hit hard. 😂

    Wouldn’t it be more fulfilling to complete a project rather then having many little starts that went no where? I understand you don’t have a lot of time to spend, I just don’t understand the concept of spending so much time on a well received game like Cardallion and then sidelining it for the next idea. Such a shame you’ve gave up on Cardallion I was looking forward to being able to play that. It looked like it had some really good potential and I was all ready to pay for my copy.

      I'm not a gamedev, but I personally think burnout is a big problem. I assume working on the same game for weeks can be kind of boring

    • @pyrot3chn1c
      @pyrot3chn1c 2 роки тому

      @@user-zg5po6op4z I’m a coder I realise burnout happens in all projects. If working for a game dev company they wouldn’t accept burnout as a reason for a game not being complete. Sometimes you just have to muscle through it till the passion comes back or the project is completed.

    • @MashUpGames
      @MashUpGames  2 роки тому

      I haven't given up on Cardallion. It's still being worked on. I have very little time each week to do my own projects and Cardallion is a big undertaking, so I tend to do smaller projects on the side to make videos about. But I haven't given up on Cardallion.

    • @pyrot3chn1c
      @pyrot3chn1c 2 роки тому

      @@MashUpGames why not spend a small amount of time progressing it. Instead of devoting that time on a new smaller project. Surely a small amount of progress is better then no progress.

    • @MashUpGames
      @MashUpGames  2 роки тому

      @@pyrot3chn1c it's a mix of personal things, though the main one is a change of circumstance since the game started development. My hobby isn't just game development but also making youtube content and I don't want to look back on 2021 as "the year I just made Cardallion videos", but instead see a year of fun interesting videos alongside Cardallion. Yes recently it has been leaning away a little from Cardallion but it won't always be like that and even if it does that's okay, things change.
