That last business has the right idea, that was a really clever and cool offer for any "influencer": buy something from our store and we'll give you a discount code to give followers and when a certain amount shop and log your code you get your money refunded. How cool is that?! I love it.

    • @bakingwonders2424
      @bakingwonders2424 3 роки тому +41

I thought that as well. I'd rather buy the products first and then go back to the store and say "I really love this ____. Would you be happy if I made a video review of it and promoted your store as well?". I'd just be happy they said yes let alone if they gave me a refund when so many people bought the product as well. I'd love to do business this way but I'm just starting my channel, so nowhere near ready. If I ever do make it big, can someone please smack me upside the head very hard with a baseball bat? I'd rather die than let myself turn into that awful vile woman wanting free nails.

    • @abaeran

It is a brilliant idea and a win-win situation. You organically get someone who loves your item enough to buy it, and there may be a more genuine reason behind them promoting the item.

I’ve done this with my business. They get really infuriated and usually say something like, “I’m doing YOU the favor. You’ll get likes and followers.” We don’t get that many likes and likes don’t equal money. I ignore all influencers from now on. I don’t even engage with them.

@@laurel1865 Haha, and these self-important, lazy little grifters going on about woke socialism make me laugh. They're the most mercenary little capitalists going, same with a lot of these 'cult of personality' UA-camrs setting up every kind of online begging box you can envision: Amazon wish-list links, Patreon, Bitcoin accounts, all sorts of merchandise on offer, livestreams where people just throw money at them with barely a thank you in return and of course, a PO Box where "fans" can send them beautiful hand made items and all sorts of bespoke cards and gifts, again with barely a thank you grunted in exchange...I find it abhorrent. The whole thing is toxic and these dysfunctional hustlers with unchecked personality disorders being worshipped by kids and underdeveloped teens and 20-somethings...gross and damaging. And again, I have no interest in their woke virtue signalling, the immature little morons banging on about socialism and mental health etc whilst operating like this. Zero self-awareness. I hope your business flourishes Laurel, glad to have read your last sentence, good for you.

I do commissions for artwork, and have had so many people ask 'how much' when I say 'oh prices start at £30' (framed and mounted included) they say 'that's too expensive!!! What if I provide the frame? Can you take £15?' like... Babe it takes me at least 2 hours to produce a piece - when you tally up the frame, the fact I'm a master in my field and my time it ain't even close... Stop asking artists to cut prices. I've charged £45 for a baby portrait and the woman gave me £250 because she was so grateful. We need more people like this!! Xxxxx

For real. People like that make me so mad, and lets me know that they have NEVER been to an art gallery or appreciate real art. Because even local galleries and small shops sell small 5in × 7in paintings for $250 MINIMUM. So when i price a goddamn 3ft × 4ft oil painting for $350-$400, its a STEAL.
I've always told people who want to take advantage of me to check out a local gallery or any other online art of sumilar size and medium and then tell me what they think of my price. Anybody who doesn't appreciate a good priced, original piece, doesn't deserve to own it!!

    • @me2ontube

My dad was like .... either you pay or im gonna get the cops. The second one was a delight. He payd for evrything and asked verry politely if he could take some shots from my father garnishing some dishes. He was like ye sure. My dad ended up having fun with that guy and then he was making him try evry fancy snaps we had (on the house) and they both went to bed drunk like skunks🤣 Moral be nice to the Chef/owner you might get nice footage and a buzz for free

I think it's a result of brands and companies shifting advertising priorities and suddenly having much more money for digital marketing. They then step to a bunch of bigger influencers, and do a sort of 'collab' although it's more just an ad. Some big influencers got so many deal offers they had to turn some down. Smaller influencers probably figured 'well, if they don't come to me, I guess I will go to them' and some were succesful. And as you can see especially well with memes, once a new thing is done, the next day everyone is doing it. And when someone with 2 million subscribers can get 50% discount on a meal they fully feature in their video for a minute or more, smaller influencers started asking for larger discounts. And now you have people with 3000 followers asking for free stuff.

Because all influencers (doesn't matter if they have a large or small following) are a bunch of free loaders. That's it!! They never influence anyone not even their own followers. They know that their followers can't able to afford these products, so these influencers are just asking for "freebies" pretending that they're actually helping these brands. Which clearly none of them are. 🤷🏿‍♀️

I once was a bridesmaid for this girl as she was a friends Fiancé of my girlfriend and she gave me this big ol' story of how her best friend backed out and they needed me to fill in. Mind you, this was June but in Sedona AZ. The morning of, she asked if I could do her hair and make up! SOO I was pretty much used as I couldn't very well back out or ask for money as it was her wedding day. I was backed into a corner. I did it. I was trapped in that freaking hot ass dress in 106 degree weather for 6 hours and walking up, down and through red rock mountains in 6in white backless heels,...I said fuck this! During the reception, I changed into my free flow dress right while the photographer was in mid swing. I don't need to match that bride I didn't even know or respect. They only invited me to escape fee's. They divorced about a year later, shocking.

One time I was in line about to pay for something and a girl behind me wanted to go in front of me with 20 or 30 things while I had one thing held in my hand. When I said, "sorry I only have one thing and was in line first, it makes no sense for me to wait for you...like waiting at a green light so other people can turn right on red." She was not happy, she insulted me and started to call me ugly (while her bf? laughed sort of amused) and then went into how popular she is on IG.
As she kept babbling her man starts laughing and drawing attention (I am introverted in public) so I step within inches of his face and say to him "if your woman insults me with one more irrelevant word I will give you your most painful IG story of your life, now look at the floor or you will be eating my fist". As I finish paying the girl at the register who heard the whole thing (and I can't tell if she was serious or just helping to piss off the entitled couple) she says "I can't believe you never called me back, I waited forever for you", I don't know her so sort of played along and said "ohh I broke my phone and it was the only place I had your number". She smiles writes her number down and says make sure you call me this time...then as I walked away as I heard her say "sorry, I am going on break, register 7 is open."
I don't know where but I lost the girls phone number before I even got home so I never called it and still don't know if she was interested or if she was just trying to help me annoy some aholes but as I look back...I realize that I probably lost a keeper.
Moral of the story, fk entitled people.

I love when the companies are actually willing to make great offers like "buy our product, we'll offer your followers a promotion through you, and if it works out, we'll both benefit" but sadly, too often the "influencer" backpedals into "oh, I don't want to invest anything into this and everything I said about liking your brand was just an empty conversation starter". I get that it would be very difficult to maintain honestly, but I wish there was a standalone public feedback forum for influencers and promoters, where not only could companies post their experiences with (attempted) collaborations with influencers, but consumers could post their experiences with said promotions as well. Not only could you more easily determine if the influencer is selling you trash, but if they were trash themselves!

My niece has a nice fancy bakery. In Minneapolis Minnesota. And had a influencer with a little less then a thousand followers asked for a free 5 tier wedding cake for her wedding that was 7 days away FOR FREE. With edible beading on all 5 tiers and 12 sugar glass roses scattered across the cake. She ignored the request. Then the next day she actually called. And my niece let her know that there was no way. Between the cost of ingredients and the time and effort and the sheer size of the cake she wouldn’t do it. But wished her all the best. When my husband and I renewed our wedding vows this past summer. I PAID her for her time and effort and the cost of the ingredients. And all I had was a sheet cake with a small topper cake for the bride and groom. She didn’t want to take it. But I told her to consider it as I support her product and her business so shut up and take the cash.
