"The Ten Stories We Tell" (Rabbi Caine Yom Kippur Sermon 2023)

Focusing on the "fundamental nature of Judaism" -according to Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel- being the interplay of Halakhah (law, structure) and Aggadah (stories), combining this with the prayer of Unetaneh Tokef, and the 10 Stories work of Dr. Mary Ann McColl, Rabbi Caine asks us to see our lives in terms of our 10 Stories, which are trying to communicate our deepest values, or briefest take on what our shortest eulogy would be, and our intimations of the hand of the Transcendent in our lives. And Rabbi Caine asks us to reconstruct our stories to make the implicit explicit so they can function to communicate what needs to be heard, and passed on.
