The "sky bower" is a structure that male bowerbirds build to impress the females, although they are usually non-magical and constructed on the ground.
That bird is actually a real type here in Australia and New Guinea (?), it’s called a bower bird and they build elaborate nests with certain coloured objects (like blue ones such as your ‘boyfriend’) to attract mates
I like how they used the bowerbird’s obsession with blue to have a reason to start the story, because in real life bower birds make arch nests with colors like blue and yellow to impress mates
