Feeding Peanut Butter To Your Backyard Birds

- Our birds love peanut butter. Not all peanut butter is good or safe for birds. It has palm oil, sugar, salt and other hydrogenated oils in it. Unfortunately the best peanut butter is also the most expensive. I add lard to ours to make it go a little further without harming the birds.

That hoodie is awesome
😄😄 glad you noticed. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the recipe and I love the hoodie!
You noticed! On that fishing trip with my brother, I wore it and the hat for 2 days in a row and he never saw the connection. 😂. Doug Ballard’s daughter, Alex made it for me. Don’t know if you ever threw against him or not.
Hello Larry
Thanks for checking in Gary and thanks for watching
Our Walmark carries Richard's peanut butter in both smooth and crunchy. It's only $3.35 a jar!
Good deal, I haven’t seen it at our Walmart. Thanks for watching
I made suet using natural peanut butter, oatmeal, and coconut oil. The birds loved it, but unless it was below freezing it would ooze all over the place, making a big mess. To avoid this problem with the peanut oil, I would suggest taking raw, unsalted, freeze-dried, or dry-roasted peanuts and grinding them as needed. This way, it doesn't have a chance to separate before use.
Thanks, great tip.
Just wondering how long does it last until you have to refill it again?
It really depends but one 1/2 pint will last from a couple of days to maybe 4 -5 days
Have you ever used powdered peanut butter to mix for suit? Looks like it may be easier and I saw some on Amazon that is 100% powdered peanuts. It is fairly expensive - like $14 for 24 oz. But maybe not a lot is needed per suit block. I'm mixing the powdered and chopped peanuts with lard and it just seems easier to deal with overall - skip the peanut butter entirely.
I’ve not heard of that product before but it sounds great. Thank you for pointing it out to me. I’ll be looking for it.
Can I use natural Skippy peanut butter?Mixture
Yes, that should be fine
Thanks to Biden/Kamala's inflation I can no longer afford peanuts.
You’re right about that. I’m just glad I have my own chickens!
