Marianne I'm curious to know where you got that picture of the little boy with the tears by 1:07 - 1:23, I have a pretty good idea but need you to confirm it for me. I sent you a message a few days ago but got no response yet. Thanks honey!
I googled "Boy with tears".....and found this lovely painting..... Tears for Fears Crying Boy replica One of the many replicas of the Crying Boy painting. The most bizarre and enduring story of all is certainly the “Curse of the Crying Boy,” a story told in an article by David Clarke published in Forteen Times (July 2008). It all started on September 4, 1985, when British tabloid newspaper The Sun published an article titled “Blazing Curse of the Crying Boy.” It told of a couple who blamed a cheap painting of a child with big tears on his cheek for a fire that destroyed their house in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The fire broke out from a pan in the kitchen and spread rapidly. However, the framed print of the Crying Boy remains on the wall unscathed. What made this mundane episode national news was the statement of a local firefighter who said that he knew of numerous other cases where prints of the Crying Boy had turned up, undamaged, in the ruins of homes destroyed by fire. The Sun was soon inundated by letters telling of similar episodes and a background story for the painting was soon established. First of all, not all paintings were identical. They all were kitschy prints of crying kids, sold in tens of thousands of copies in branches of British department stores during the 1960s and 1970s. That's were it came from!!! I myself had a print hanging in my dorm room at the time...I no longer have it...:(
Thanks for answering me. Yes! I was very surprised when I saw that painting as I also have it. I bought it in South Africa. I was told it was painted by someone in South Africa I also heard some bad things about it afterwards on one of my trips down there. I was told that a Satanist had painted it. Then when I got back to USA I took it out of my home and it was put in our garage. I believe I bought it in 1976. there was also another picture I bought with it and it is of a little dark haired boy that I was told it was also painted by Satanist and that it was also bad to have. I Loved it so much when I first saw it as several people had it in their homes. My sister in South Africa told me that she heard there was a spell on those pictures, that is why I was so shocked when I saw it on youtube. I told my husband and son that maybe you were from South Africa; but I guess you are not. I loved that picture, I just checked the signature and it was done by G Bragolin and the little boys name is Toby. I will have to check out the artist as I am now really curious. Well honey thanks for responding, great to hear from you as we are both such great fans of Waylon Jennings "THE MAN" I play his songs and music every single day. My one little dog also loves his singing. She comes running when she hears his voice, so on that note I will say Goodnight.
