Amazing tribute to the incredible effort put forward by the Allies. Are those tanks Airfix models? I'm not aware of many other manufacturers of 1/76th scale tanks. They really look the business. It is interesting to see just how much the British loading gauge forced the shape of the tanks - The Churchills being long, but not very wide, and the Shermans being somewhat smoothed off around the turret to ensure everything fit through tunnels and such. Excellent narration and stop motion by the way!
Hi Mike, I'm behind in my viewing. I was at the IWM Duxford on the 2nd of June this year as the Douglas Dakota's were assembling for their part in this years special D-Day commemoration. As always you have done an incredible job of bringing us history through model railways. The railways rose to the occasion and served the country and cause to the point of exhaustion. It broke the railways and the Phoenix that rose from the ashes was the nationalized British Railways that I grew up with. Thank you for this important video. Regards, David.
David, what a wonderful comment, I have felt sad as this video has only attracted a low number of views, but like yourself those that have commented really 'got' the message and enjoyed it, which makes the huge effort I put in worthwhile. Very many thanks.
@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited I was also surprised that more people had not watched this wonderful depiction of D-Day preparation. I fully appreciate the time it takes to film, narrate and edit such content. Thank you Mike, I have really enjoyed the posting - even if I stumbled on it a bit late!
@@fircombehallrailwayoogauge1430 thanks so much, yes lots of work went into it but it was a Labour of love and respect. The views might be disappointing but comments like this make it all worthwhile
This is a wonderful tribute, I really enjoyed watching this. Very much had the feel of a busy railway with all the trains and really liked the stop motion sequences.
Hi, thanks so much for the kind comment, I am very glad it had the right feel. Those were some quite basic stop gaps lol I have done some smoother ones in the past, try this comical one from 3:52 ua-cam.com/video/SS2Qm9QMcK8/v-deo.html
This was great to watch and listen to. Your put together some great content on your channel. The additional of the military figures in this really brought the history to life. Clint

Hi Darryl. Many thanks indeed for the nice comments. Yes indeed all the railway companies came together at this time. So glad you are enjoying the videos.
Hi Darryl, Not only did all British railway companies rise to the challenge but also those of the commonwealth nations. Here in Canada Canadian Pacific Rly. turned their shops into war production with navel guns being produced in Calgary as an example and of course the railways here were part of the supply line that fed the Atlantic convoys that kept Britain going. Canadian railway employees that signed up for military service returned home to guaranteed jobs with no loss of seniority. Kind regards, David.
Absolutely superb. A wide range of locos and rolling stock. Excellent historical commentary - thank you. I have been really inspired by your layout. Is your layout DCC?
