At 71 years old, have had many from the first new CJ5 Levi's to my '85 CJ7 with 5.0 power. If you add extended shackles on the fronts, I hope you got a set of wedges to add the caster back so it wants to track straight. My last Jeep had front shackles and wanted to dart all over the place. Beautiful 'ol Jeep.
Believe it or not, this is actually one of my best driving Jeeps. Didn’t add casters either. No wobbles, no awkward tracking, and she does extremely well on the interstate at 65. Thanks for the kind words!
Ok,,,,, Very Nice, I had a 1979 CJ7 304V8 Golden-Eagle as well, you can see it in my "Avatar" and the quickest way to tell if it's an Original Factory Package,,,,, is it will have a "Clock" by itself to the left of the Steering wheel, and to the Right is the Tach, if you look real close at my "Avatar" and looking at my right shirt-pocket, right to it's left, you can see the "Clock" on the dash...... So, it looks like yours is a Factory Package, and they are pretty Rare for sure...... 1977, 78, & 79 were the only yrs Built..... and in the CJ7 Only...... BD in Alaska 😎
Fuel filler is wrong. It should be round. The square filler didn't arrive until 1978. Also, the CJ7emblem doesn't belong on the grill. It's nice, it's beautiful, but not a restoration; it's a restomod. The original ignition system was a Prestolite. It was a piece of junk and the first repair by almost everyone was going to a Motorcraft distributor and some other electronic ignition such a a Duraspark, or an MSD, or... I own a '77 as well, and it's no "restoration" either. Still, a nice job.
I actually have the original doors in the shop that I had painted, but never installed them. Sold the hard top a long time ago. I think they look like cracker boxes from the rear.
I picked up a “real” 78 Golden Eagle last year, I wanted to ask if you ever put on the Holley carb and if so would you recommend it? It’s running a motorcraft 2100 series now. No problems but just curious how the 304 liked it. Thanks man! The jeep looks amazing! 👍👍👍
I did. It’s a 465cfm 4 barrel Holley and it’s fantastic. I didn’t jet it or truly adjust too much of anything but the idle mixture. Electric/cable choke swap is a must.
@@christophertaylor2316 right and wrong. This tub variation was made for the 1979 model year until 1986. My previous reply above corrected the fact that I always call it “my ‘77” since that’s the Jeep that it started as.
What brand of paint did you use? I've tried 3 different paint supply places near me and they cannot get the formula to mix the factory color. My 78' was repainted before I bought it but was originally Mocha Brown as well and I'd like to repaint it back to the original color. I'm not sure if it was a Golden Eagle though. Good looking Jeep BTW!
Amazingly gorgeous man , “Golden Eagle 🦅 “ are the coolest jeeps ever
Nice jeep. You did a great job. Glad to see younger guys interested in the CJs
my first car in high school. paid $3250 in '89. V8, AC, automatic. great restoration!!
Beautiful !
My Dad sold his 54 Willy's and bought his Golden Eagle brand new. Last Jeep he ever had.
I miss my Dad.
My favorite was his 46
Willy's.

They were built in 80 also.

Don’t forget the rocker molding is supposed to be chrome and not gold.
Bad ass jeep .. any doors or hard top?

My wife has the 2019 golden eagle package

That tub isn't from a 77
Christopher Taylor: roll bar?
Tub is a 1979 tub, all steel with no body work. Running gear is all 1977. Sorry for the confusion
@@VintageJeepGuy36 that tub is from a later model CJ7. 80s

I used a brand called omni. It’s a base/clear and it’s oil base.
For sale?
Jeb, is the "Limited Edition" decal under the "GOLDEN EAGLE?" Is that a stock decal? Did you add that? Holla
It’s a factory location sticker.
Roll bar isn’t 77..
I'll trade you for a 2015 CR-V with very low miles! PLEEEEEAAASEEEEEEEEEE!
Dash isn’t original
How not? Clock, tach are original to the Golden Eagle/Laredo packages.
JGJeeps18 I’m sorry your correct I was thinking speaker there on left but I’m backwards sorry very nice Jeep
