Tabs Glossary:
- Reading the tabs is with the strings from the bottom to the top. The low E (6th string) is the bottom string, and the high e (1st string) is the top one (you can also just check the notes at the left side If you prefer that).
- h - This signifies a Hammer On. (Ex: 4h5 - you would need to hammer on from fret 4 to 5)
- p - This signifies a Pull Off. (Ex: 5p0 - you would need to pull off from fret 5 to an open string)
- If you see "h" & "p" in combination (like 0h2h3p2p0), you would need to pick only once (starting from the open string in this example), while playing all the other notes through Hammer Ons and Pull Offs.
- / - This signifies a Slide, both up and down. (Ex: 5/8 - Here you need to slide up from fret 5 to 8. If It was "8/5", you would need to slide down from 8 to 5.
If you see a note without a previous fret number, like "/12", It means that you can slide up or down to the note from a fret of your choosing.
If you only see the / sign, that means that you have to slide from "whatever fret to whatever fret" of your choosing)
- (9) - A note in between brackets means that the note is a "Ghost Note", which means that you can play or not play that note, depending on your liking.
- X - If you see an "X" on the tabs, It means that you have to play a muted fret on that string.
-b - This signifies a Bend. For example, If It says "14b16", It means that you need to bend from fret 14 to 16. If you see "14b16b14", then It means that you would need to play the 14th fret and bend up to 16, then bend that note back down to 14 (so you return to a not bending note). And much like the hammer ons and pull offs example, this is all in only one pick strum.
If I missed anything or you have feedback on how clear (or not) this explanations are, let me know in the comments. Constructive criticism is much appreciated!

Really enjoyed... great performance.... superb execution!!!
Really amazing! Thanks for the lesson!!!
That was great!
Thank you sir
Accurate tone
Great lesson! But I think if there were Palm Mutes shown on the tab it would be much better. Cheers!
Thanks! And yes, It is something I've considered. So far the only problem I have with It is time, as It can be fairly time consuming making sure that I get all that stuff in the tabs right, and even then I've still made a few mistakes that I've had to correct in pinned comments in a couple of past videos D:
So for now, I'll keep relying on people just watching my hand and listening for the palm mutes, but If I become more efficient about this in the future, I'll definitely add it!
@@Fernus8 if you need palm mutes shown you cant play these anyway
If you can't differentiate between normal strums and palm mutes how will you ever progress from tab learning to ear only? Don't give yourself too much assistance, practice that.
Great stuff, the only thing I can comment on is some sections were unclear as to placement but the tabs were great
Can you give me a specific example?
That way If I need to do this sort of editing because there's too many guitars again, I could be clearer!
@@Fernus8 an example of this was Clean riff #2-3 and the Kirk Volume Swells, I was confused as to when the Kirk part kicked in, on the first time or the repeat. also what threw me off the most was not having the Kirk solo tabbed out, I understand not having it cus it's a solo and is never the same
@@williamgilligan3204 I definitely could have put a text showing where the Kirk swells start, that's a good point.
For solos I don't do tabs for them because most of my audience doesn't seem so interested in them (I remember doing tabs for the God That Failed, and the solo tabs didn't do as well as the riffs), so unless a lot of people want to see tabs for a specific solo, or I just really want to do tabs for one, I'm probably not tabbing them for the most part D:
👍👍👍
Really nice job 👏
Awesome! Thanks! Always want to learn more Dave Mustaine riffs.
1:27 Hangar 18 comes to my mind. 😎
@@adamtuber1486 Absolutely! I hear more Megadeth than Metallica .
Man can you do a video of how to get the clean Metallica tone?
I could certainly do a video about *this* specific clean tone that I used for my guitar, but sadly it isn't quite the same as Metallica's tone for it to merit a "How to get Metallica's Clean Tone" type of video imo.
How are you keeping the open strings from ringing on the distorted version of the intro riffs?
I mute them with my palm and (when necessary) also with my pinky!
It's a little tiring to focus on that at first, but It's very worth it to avoid the annoying noises you can get with distortion and open strings!
@@Fernus8 I have solved the problem a bit, another problem now however, is that I'm playing one riff longer. I have to figure that out.
The @2:47 pair up.
This is the exact question I was about to ask. Very frustrating 😄
This is like the guitar version of Davie504
Dave504?
solo🥺
Intro arpeggio look at easy but is difficult to play.
Include the palm mutes with a dot under the muted notes at least 🤦
You do have ears, right?
@@danielk301 that's not the point
Use the forking dot!!
This is sped up
Actually no
@@doraanaisnin5199 100% it is
@@alexporter2514 Don't "100%" if it's a subjective take you absolute donut... Why the hell would you speed up a song that isn't even fast to begin with, why would you cheat people when it's so unnecessary?! If you touched a guitar in your life you should know this song isn't even hard... Hopefully you're not some rage bait dork on the internet, have a blessed day.
