"Are huns actually a top 3 civilization"... should have been called "watch me own Hera, by playing amazing, but let's say it is because of the civilization" :D
He's on a tournament winning streak. He loses some ranked games and you start talking when hes also leading in elo. Its only down hill for Hera. But thats because he's on the top. So your logic confuses me.
This was such a smooth game. Enjoyable to wash… I mean… watch. This would have been an even bigger wash if he just made a monastery with a few monks. Not to be too critical but the reason why Hera has been dominant is because he does the little things right. Sometimes things that used to be counter meta. One of those things has been getting the most value out of his units through healing I know this was a fast paced game with a lot of unit trades. But value is still value. When you got 7 really weak cav archers you get so much value by having them come home to heal and then have them guard your home base while your full HP ones attack theirs.
Anyone else think Huns feel a bit... vanilla? An early-mid game wood savings, an identity around Cav Archers (but their only bonus is a discount, and they're not FU), and randomly more accurate trebs, which I question has any historical basis. They play like Mongol, but without cool stuff like Drill siege, the anti-siege Mangudai, or a boost to a supporting unit like Steppe Lancers. They're alright, and people still remember the Hun Wars of old, but they're not particularly exciting either.
They are not one dimensional though. They have fully upgraded paladin, access to halbediers and Tarkans which are amazing against opposing cav archers or archers in general. You can play the late game as if you were playing the franks and go full Paladin and mix halbs and skirms which is a really strong option. And since it's a game you'll have trouble with finding historical basis for everything 11 But treb bonus and Tarkan's anti building damage relates to the fact that Huns destroyed lots of cities on their path.
Hun house bonus is heavily underrated every house your opponent make is wood your opponent wasted cause they have to over you which includes the extra wood your opponent is wasting by making extra house over their current pop limit Also not to mention you can micro your army much better because you aren't forced to keep getting distracted by housed notification while in a micro war which is what makes huns better
Before the DLCs, Huns were the dominant civ on Arabia, due to their aggressive playstyle mixed in with high mobility units. You have FU knights with faster producing stables, you have discounted Cav archers, no houses, everything is geared towards massing army fast and overwhelming the opponent. They just got powercrept by all the early eco bonuses and camel civs that can negate or counter the things Huns do best.
The Hun wars were a thing in the first place because Huns have a ton of early game options. They could do drush, man at arms, archers, scouts, towers, whatever opening you wanted. That's still the case now even if some of those openings themselves are no longer desirable.
Why top 3? As far as I understand Poles are very weak right now at the top level because it takes them too long to benefit from their farms and knights spam
I think Huns just avoid your kryptonite: Making houses 11
I live for those 22:37 Mango shots.
Ba Da BOOM
it is a shame that we don't get hera's reaction to it in the video, I guess editor only crops the games from vod
Watching viper play without getting housed is like watching MJ play without the flu

I use to play my fair share of 1v1 hun wars on ZA or GA maps back on MSN Gaming zone between 1999-2003. Best years of my life. Death Match too!
Hera is slowly getting decoded now - he will be beaten more and more now

You anti Heraists! I will tell him about you people!
No, I like Hera a lot, I’m just stating a fact of life, others catchup

Huns are amazing but they can have problems against good camel civs

Nothing wrong with vanilla every once in a while

He who walls wins

For me top 3 right now are Georgians, tatars and maybe one other Cav archer civ or maybe Portuguese
