- In March of 2023, Bettersten Wade called Jackson Mississippi police to report her 37 year old son, Dexter Wade, missing. She was hesitant to reach out to the authorities after they’d killed her brother, but it was the only option she had. They told her they’d look into his disappearance, but what she never expected was the fact that the knew he was already dead and didn’t tell her. They also didn’t tell her that it was one of their officers who killed him roadside accident. Months later she learned the truth - that they’d been hiding his body in an unmarked grave. Then, just as Bettersten was about to see her son for the first time again, Jackson authorities went behind her back and dug him up without. When will the corruption end?

There is absolutely NO room for “unfortunate miscommunications” when you are handling people’s & their loved one’s LIVES. This case was infuriating to hear about. Thank you guys for yet again bringing light to an inexcusable injustice.
I don't know which is scarier. A police dept this corrupt or a police dept this incompetent. I'm so angry yet so sad for his family, I hope they get the justice they deserve.

His body must show major injuries not consistent with being hit by a car. That man was probably beaten beyond recognition. Why else would they exhume him away from the family’s eyes?

This is what I believe. They had intended for the family never to find out or left it long enough that his body would significantly decompose and those injuries inconsistent with a collision would have deteriorated

this is a blood boiling case. my best friend and I are in dental school in Memphis, TN. she's from Mississippi and got into UMMC Dental School in Jackson which would be $40,000 less per year for her as an in-state student but she decided to come to Memphis because she absolutely hated living in Jackson, Mississippi in college. She said it was so bad and scary. Ultimately, she's taking out an extra $160,000 in loans to NOT be in Jackson. Insane, this is so sad.
That is insane...but I don't blame her at all. It shouldn't be this way.

This is infuriating. He was in the fingerprint system, they couldnt fingerprint him when they brought him in. OMG!!!!
I have to say hearing this case that I am now beyond grateful for the coroner who handled my brothers suicide. He was unidentifiable when he was found and identified only by a single tattoo on his arm. This man worked for 2 weeks to find me and contact me to inform me. He was sympathetic and answered all of my moms questions. I cannot imagine the pain this mother felt and still feels. My heart goes out to her.

This is absolutely sickening. The Mississippi PD needs to be investigated, preferably by a law enforcement agency out of state and one that has the power to charge officers. Knowing what we do, no one can deny there's a cover-up here. Either that or no one in that department is qualified to be a cop and needs to be fired.

Came back to rewatch this now that the stories about the 215 bodies found in Jackson are every where on TikTok. I knew Dexters case sounded familiar. This is so heartbreaking!
Rest in Power Dexter Wade. Your life was stolen but Im so glad your dear mother got to lay you to proper rest at last. That murderer needs to be fired and tried for tampering with a corpse and manslaughter
Obviously this police officer needs his career investigated. Dare I say the entire fucking police station needs its backlogs checked, if they have them. Shitty places refuse to hold into things for this exact reason.

I live in a small town in Mississippi also. I have heard about Dexter's case but only once.
I find it funny how the Mayor just had to make sure the public is aware there was no police misconduct as if they did a thorough search to prove otherwise.
Did anybody witness the accident?! If the story the police department is telling is true (which I don’t believe it is at all), then there should’ve been some eye witnesses on the highway. Even if they didn’t see the actual accident, they should’ve experienced the traffic jam or saw something while passing the scene. It was only 7:54 pm.
Who did the off duty police officer alert when it happened? How long were they out there on the scene? I’m calling bullsh*t on how they’re claiming Dexter died. They’re covering something up.

This case shows a complete disregard for human life. This is outrageous. To site a lack of communication is the worst possible excuse you can have. It’s a cover-up, obviously. No agency can possibly be this incompetent. I would call every case they’ve ever dealt with into question.

I'm only a few minutes in and I'm Infuriated! Why wasn't Dexter's mother notified? If the police can't handle the case...ask for assistance. No mother should have to go through this! I will never understand why some police treat people less than human. It doesn't matter what he did in his past or his age; he is someone's family member. I remember hearing about George's case. Why would police not follow protocol? 172days? How could they let his mother go through the pain of not thinking the police knew nothing. What is the PD hiding. If they made a positive i.d then they should've went to his mother's house. I agree with Dexter's mother she's not wrong about the way she feels!! Thank you to Kendall Josh, and the team for helping bringing more awareness of Dexter and George's cases.

I agree 100%!!! Why did they remove the body from the casket??? If they aren't hiding anything he should have been transported with the casket and NEVER removed out in the elements!!! I'm not a professional in this area but I am aware of professional protocol!!! I think that they should be held accountable 100% the family shouldn't have to pay for ANYTHING!!!

If Dexter had a warrant out for his arrest, I suspect they would have found a way to reach his next of kin to locate. I just wish the police had the same energy and efforts as if they were chasing a suspect. My heart breaks for his family. Ugh.

When I saw that grave maker with a number , instead of a name , it was heartbreaking. Buried without any dignity .
They knew darn well who he was , they could of notified the mother based on the name on his prescription bottle , but they didn’t , because they wanted to cover up the cop 👮♀️ off duty , that killed him .

Their own officers should NEVER have investigated the “ accident “ by their own officer 😡 This should have been investigated by an outside Agency that can be trusted!!!!
They owe that mother (at minimum) a proper burial in a place she wants! Plus compensation for all of the stress and worry they put on this family that could have been avoided within days of him leaving! I’m very concerned that there is a cover up of some kind. Praying for this family.
Why not go to the news or release a press conference stating that an “accident” happened and if anyone had a love one in the area go missing on or about this day contact the police station. The corruption happening in police departments all over is absolutely absurd. Prayers for this family to get the answers they deserve!
