What a treat. I wake up and see a notification of an hour long video, by you and Steve, discussing various creatures, and their hunting techniques. What a great way to start a Sunday.
20:25 According to Google, the average cow has anywhere between 27000 ml to 36000 ml of blood. That's equal to 1826 tbsp and 2435 tbsp respectively. You mentioned that a bat will typically drink just one tbsp of blood, so to drain the cow of all its blood, we're talking 1826 to 2435 bats attacking the same cow in a night. Now, according to Google, a human will die if it loses 40% of its blood. Assuming that applies to cows as well, it would take 730 to 1974 bats to kill a cow. That being said, vampire bats typically live in colonies of only 100 or so members, so I did some more math. A human produces about 16 tbsp of blood every 24 hours. A cow has roughly seven times more blood than a human, so I estimate that a cow will produce 112 tbsp of blood every 24 hours, meaning that a cow will reproduce the amount of blood lost from full colony of bats feeding on it overnight in a day.
My baby's almost fifteen now, so I can watch this whenever I want lol. Enjoy this time with your little man, because it goes by much too quickly. Good luck to you.
We need more of these. Fuel my nerdy need to educate myself on wild animals while getting a good laugh.Thank you and i and many other people appreciate the content.
The amount of research that goes into their videos is amazing and the style of delivery does a lot to keep it interesting ... I don't always make it to end of a long science-type vid, but he keeps it fun while delivering so much information!
If it was researched so well, the narrator wouldn't keep saying hornet "bites". Stinging insects sting with their stingers. Biting isn't part of the equation.
Gonna write this before I finish watching. Clicked the video immediately since it’s a WATOP video. Just realised it’s an hour long video so I’m watching a documentary at this point; a very interesting one. If it’s anything like the regular videos, this would be one amazing documentary that can’t get boring. I’ve been longing for this so I’ll see how it goes. Your regular videos have never disappoint, so I really hope this doesn’t. Edit: It was really worth it. Thanks Steve. And the Steve jokes are back again, maybe
This is the only channel that makes this type of video good. Most channels that show these nature clip compilations with narration have bad editing and have no idea what they’re talking about. WATOP makes sure that what they’re saying is correct. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed a point in one of these videos where I thought, “Hey, that’s not right!” In fact, I’ve learned a lot from them. So thanks 🙏
That was awesome. I'd love to see more hour + long videos. I look forward to all your videos and gladly skip all other videos to go to yours first if I see it in my notifications. Keep up the great work.
Bee Keeper here. Just casually reminding people that bee keeper suits aren't made out of any, "special," material...it's just your everyday cotton polyester blend. and since it's pretty much like wearing a full body set of pajamas, and you would usually end up using them in the warm weather, they are very easy to sweat through, which makes the material stick to your skin, and your protection basically disappears. my brow furrows when i hear people talk about bee suits like they are made out of future-tech organic polymers and provide force-field levels of protection against any kind of bee, wasp, hornet, what have you.
I actually did a little math: if 100 bats can consume all the blood of 25 cows in a year, that’s a quarter of a cow per bat. Cows on average have 27-36 liters (around 7-10 gallons) of blood in their bodies (I’m using 8 gallons for my sake of rounding, and being an American). A quarter of 8 is 2 gallons of blood per year, per bat, which comes to 512 tablespoons (a little under 1.5 tablespoons a day, which as we know is accurate to their diet per Steve’s info). So if we take the full 8 gallons and convert that to tablespoons it comes to 2,048 tablespoons, and if we divide that by 1.5 we get around 1,365. It will take 1,365 bats to consume all the blood of one cow in a single night.
At first I thought it was a new video but then I realized that this is an hour long compilation of his selected videos . I know this because I have wacthed every single video of his channel . Btw I Love this 🤩❤️

Nice Math but a little math would be more like 100(Bats)/25(Cows)=4 Bats need a Year(365 Day's) for a Cow
4(Bats*365(Day's)= 1460 bats need 1 day
hell of a comment props man glad i checked when he said something about the bats and cows
@@Allastor091 my bad math got someone to provide the correct math so I'll take it as a win cause I got my answer either way

Edit: oh wait whale is not predator animal my bad💀
Whales are not fish, whales are mammals.
Also, the only predatory whales are toothed whales.
