Thanks for this. I've spent the last couple days bindge watching as many how to do your own unit studies videos. You have some great ideas about how to find activities and vocab words. I'm about to venture into the world of writing my own unit studies after using Gather Round for the past year. Don't get me wrong I love and respect Rebecca, but her unit studies were just lacking. It wasn't what I had hoped for or envisioned. I have 5 kids and I have a dream of doing school with all of them at the same time instead of working with my kindergartener by himself, then the next kid up, the the one after that then working up through my middle and high schoolers with the seperate curriculum for each. Gather round allowed me to work with my younger kids first, then my older ones. But as the year went on i discovered that the notebooks were just lacking information and felt like it was just school at home filling out work sheets in their notebooks. A lit if the information in the teachers guide didn't reflect what was in the student notebooks to begin with. What's the point in me reading about the southern unites states when the notebooks want to know about alligators and just copy the bible verse then an art page? It just felt like information overload with no real activities planned out. There were some good points to it too. Some of the writing assignments were fun. I got my very ADHD 4th grader to write a story about his cat. He also got really interested in whirl pools when we did earth science. My middle schooler enjoy making a comic strip for space. I would love to incorporate more hands on activities that bring out more hands on learning instead if just filling out work sheets all the time. I think after your video I have a better idea of what I want to do and how to do it. I will be joining your FB group too. ❤
Learnt more here in 15 minutes about unit studies than in 11 years of teaching at a college

Thanks so much for your videos, they are priceless! My question is, what exactly do you have them do with the vocabulary words?
How do you incorporate math
