I, too, am from Brooklyn, New York. I am always cautious, which I attribute to my New York heritage. So happy that our fellow Gig Worker is okay. Thanks for sharing with us. Much appreciated. Stay safe❤
Yes! Thank you!
Bklyn stand up!!!!!
I may not even do deliveries with alcohol 🛑 anymore because I just want to be able to leave it at the door and take a pic‼️
Agreed!
I don't do alcohol deliveries , PERIOD !!!!!!
True
Great info, I deliver at nights and some customers looks shady as hell. Uber or these places have a responsibility to their drivers. Dimples I delivered to a customer and this was the instructions " this is a basement apartment, use the side alleyway, enter the back yard go down three steps of stairs and meet me at the door" Can you believe that sh**? My daughter goes with me in the nights so I feel a little safer. Thank you for posting. This is eye opening for me.
I had a customer tell me the other day to “come around to the back of her house”. I told her no, and that I didn’t feel comfortable doing that. Right away she came downstairs to get her order.
Never put yourself in danger.
@@DimplesonDemand Wow, I am woke to this now. It never dawned on me there would be dangerous.
This is the 1 of the main reasons I do not dash after 9pm but it could happen at any time so I always try n get back to where I feel more comfortable🤔
Ok I have questions. Did the victim deliver to the front door? Was there anyone else in the house besides the woman who answered the door? The victim stated she was dragged to the back of the house into a bedroom so, while all this struggling was going on, how did the front door get re-deadbolted? She said there was 5 or 6 deadbolts. Did I miss something? Either way, good thing she was able to connect with 911 so the police could trace the phone.
The deadbolt thing stumped me as well. Another question I have, is was that even the 'customers' house? Thank goodness she is ok.
I'm with you on the deadbolts. You can't just close a door and have them lock. So, she would of had to let go of the driver with one hand long enough to lock all of them. Did the driver just stand there? There is a hole in this story.
OMG! How scary. As if we don’t have enough to think about.
Listen, that got me as well but there were probably deadbolts on the door but they probably wasn't locked. When panic sets in sometime you mind plays tricks. Do you think she made up the story 🤔
@@marcianewman8151 do you think she made up the story because I deliver as well and I am freaked out
Thanks the the heads up Dimple. We have to stay alert in doing all of our deliveries 👍👍
i just dont do alcohol deliveries, ,,,,,too much drama involved
I thought that you would make more money delivering alcohol
Thanks Dimples for putting this video. When I do gig work I make sure I tell my family that I am scheduled to do gig work on this date and time so they know when I’m doing it. Also when I arrive to the customers house I look around before I leave my car and I have my car keys in between my fingers to use it as sort of a safety tool to hit someone if need me. I hope I made sense :)
Great info. I am so busy making sure it is the right address and the right food that I am unaware. Thank you for the heads up
Love the new series name... Be safe
Thanks Teri!
Horrible story ! So glad Megan is ok. But definitely worth taking in to account the importance of our police force. Because who else are we going to call for in a situation like this?!
I always keep my pepper spray with me because of situations like this. I also don’t dash at night because i’m a young college student but this stuff could honestly happen at any time. thanks for letting us know about this stuff, glad she is ok!
Maybe I should get a pepper spray. Where do you get it to buy?
Walmart sells it.
@@DimplesonDemand thank you
When a driver decides whether or not to accept an order can the driver see if alcohol is in the order? I would probably not want to deliver alcohol since it’s in person. God bless that delivery driver and God bless you!
Thanks Deborah! In my area, Instacart doesn't allow for alcohol delivers (thank goodness). I would imagine that you could see the alcohol, like you can the other items before you accept the order.
@@DimplesonDemand
Thank you for keeping us informed. Blessings
It wouldn't be a bad idea to carry some sort of weapon like a knife or mace if, as a woman, you're going to be going to strangers' homes.
Wow!! Definitely gonna get a taser or something. That’s crazy 😨
I definitely carry something with me when I am doing deliveries.
Wow that's really scary
I do a lot of alcohol deliveries and I try to be on guard as much as possible. Once the sun is down, I don't do alcohol deliveries and I won't delivery to some neighborhoods. If there is a large alcohol order, I am most certainly on guard. Getting to a point though where I may stop doing alcohol deliveries all together. As for this shopper, I would have never given that woman a hug, I would have gone into complete question mode.
I agree, I would have never given her a hug.
I love your shirt 💕RIP Whitney
She's the queen!
I saw her live once when her first album came out. She was actually the opening act! Absolutely amazing voice in person. 😢
Safety first.😎
Always!
Girl, the other day I had a Walmart delivery. The app had the wrong address but I eventually figured out the correct address. I went to deliver it and it was in a super hood housing project in Jersey. I grew up in the hood in Bklyn so I'm not easily shook but I did not feel safe at all. I said f*ck this delivery. I told them I couldn't find the address and took it back to the store. And p.s. as a female, I never deliver after dark. That's my personal rule. Not worth it for me. Rather be safe than sorry.
I deliver at nights but my daughter goes with me
I will hug anyone. Why in the world will you hug a customer???🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️👀
This is the very reason why I never deliver to anywhere I am not familiar with and never late at night by myself. I do deliveries on the weekends asside from my FT job juring the week just to get out and keep from being bored at home on the weekends. Please don't do a delivery if your not confortable or something feels off. Get you a portable mace spray and clip it to your pants or jeans to keep on you...maybe even a pocket knife for safety reasons and get you a dash cam with night vision.
Very good advice!
Great ideas
WTF !!! in this day of Covid - please do not be giving strangers hugs ! Thank God the driver was able to get away and is ok !
Really, but she was crying Blutru
This is really sad 😞. I’m glad she made it out ok. Looks like gig drivers are going to need an extension on PPE if y’all get my drift. I do Shipt and if I experienced something like that idk if I would want gig drive anymore. Since these gigs do background checks on us, I wonder if they do it on the customers or maybe should start
I agree with you. I wouldn't continue to work in the gig economy either. I would be paranoid. I know for a fact they don't check the customers background. I remember doing a Shipt order and the customer tipped with a counterfeit $20. I reached out to Shipt and they said the would remove him from the platform. Two weeks later he placed another order.
@@DimplesonDemand I remember watching that on your channel! I’m glad you confronted him! Did he use a different alias or the same info? These companies are so thirsty for customers, they’ll turn the other cheek when it comes to them being in the wrong but when it’s the shopper/driver, our value means nothing.
Can you imagine? Wow scary
This story is so crazy! The police need to check that woman’s entire property cause I swear that’s not the first time she did that mess. Who has 5-6 deadbolts on their door! I would have dragged that heffa!!!!!!
