Mother nature giveth and taketh away. I think you captured a great image with the light and rainbow too. Beautiful location as well. Glad to see the 24-200 being put to use. Mine is still on back order : ( Can't wait to get it.
Fantastic Julian. I was at Start Point a couple of years ago and got some nice images. Really informative video and thanks for the labels identifying kit etc. Very helpful 😀
Nice spot Julian. A place i have been meaning to visit for a while but as usual never got there. Nice images and the last image even without the light was nice and goes to show that you don't always need the light.
Nice one Julian I agree start point really lovely spot . Shame you lost the light but at least you managed to fill your lungs with some good sea air take care
In November, I bought my Z6 ii with the 24-200 lens. With lockdowns and stuff, have not really used it. Was delighted to see you use it well and would encourage you to do a video with hints as to how to get the best out of it. That little slice of rainbow was a gift!(
Thanks for watching Edward. Shame you've not been able to get out because of lockdown....it's the same for a lot of us unfortunately. I'm not sure I have any specific hints for the lens. I use it in the same way as all my other lenses. Did you have any specific in mind?
I think you have walked down to Mattiscombe Sands & round to towards Start Point lighthouse. It is just I didn't recognise the grassy bit you were standing on. I was last down there at the end of September on a very windy stormy day. Walking from the Car park I had to navigate the herd of Devon red cows. There were quite a few bulls in the herd too. They didn't want to move from the path, so I had to go round them. Quite scary beasts up close & personal. No laughing...... Sadly at the moment I am not allowed to drive that far. I hope we will be soon, because it is not helping my mental health. Really struggling, like everyone. Keep safe Jules.
Hey Nicky, I know Mattiscombe Sands, but I approach this viewpoint from the lighthouse side. I don't think it makes a lot of difference which way you come though! Don't think I've seen cows there, just sheep, which are a lot less intimidating for sure! I'm stuck as well with no access to the coast or Dartmoor....it's not good for the head is it. Stay safe as well Nicky. 👍
Some lovely images there Julian. The South coast has been on "my places to visit" list for years. I have Been most places in the UK, but not the South coast has evaded me for some reason.
Thanks Tony. We all have places like that....there are some places in Britain that I've never made it to and Ireland has completely evaded me (for no real reason!)
haven't been here for a while Jules, lovely location and some nice compositions as always👌🏻. Such a shame the light didn't play ball after such a promising start. At least you were rewarded with some good sea air in your lungs!!👍🏻
Loved the first 2 images, I'm a sucker for a lighthouse. What do you think about the 24-200 z over the 70-200 f/4? I have an f/4 but would prefer to go native to my Z6?
Thanks Christopher. I'd always take native Z glass over F mount - newer, better optics, and designed for the camera it will sit on. The choice of F mount 70-200 f/4 or Z mount 24-200 f/4-6.3 is a tricky one. Depends on if that constant aperture is a requirement for you? I've not used the f/4 before, but I did own the F mount 70-200 f/2.8 though, and for my landscape work the 24-200 is as good if not better in places.
Julian, you mentioned that you used the Nikkor 24-200 in this video. I was wondering what you think of the Nikkor 24-300 f.45-5.6? I just purchased one recently used at a good price and I wish I'd had it with me in Vietnam in 2019.
Hey Paul, I've not used the 24-300 before so don't have any specific thoughts, but as with any bit of kit, if it suits your requirements and helps you capture the images you want then it's good enough. :-)
This place is on my list as soon as lockdown is over, . I took the strap off my camera so it doesn’t make any movement once it’s on my tripod, do you have that issue with your z7 ? How are you finding the restrictions with your work?
A good place to have your list for sure! I only have the strap on for windy days, and when it is it's around my neck so it doesn't flap about. It's only because I talking to camera that I let it flap about a bit. :-)
As always Julian, a brilliant video and fantastic photos
Cheers Anthony, appreciate you watching another one. :-)
Hi Julian, At least you had a great sunset to accompany the wind.
Thanks Paul....every cloud and all that!
Wow!perfect shots.
Great introductions
Thank you! :-)
Another great video Julian 👍
Thanks Chris! :-)

Thanks Miguel, yes mother nature can be a cruel mistress sometimes! Hope you get your 24-200 soon! 👍
Always enjoy your videos Julian. Your enthusiasm is infectious :-) What a fabulous location. Hopefully next time the light will be better.
Thanks Barry! You've got to have enthusiasm to enjoy landscape photography....I'm a half glass full type of person. lol
Nice location
It sure is mate! The weather can be wild as well.

Hey Dave, thanks for watching another video! Cracking location Start Point isn't it. Hopefully we'll both be back soon. :-)
Aw yes, light at an epic location can be a fickle friend. Still, you came away with some excellent photographs. Julian, thank you so much for sharing.
Light or not, it's never a wasted effort to get yourself outdoors. Thanks for watching Craig. :-)
Nice spot Julian.

We've all got places like that Tim, and yes, good point on not always needing the light. 👍
Nice one Julian I agree start point really lovely spot . Shame you lost the light but at least you managed to fill your lungs with some good sea air take care
Cheers Trevor, sometimes the photographs are a bonus....can't beat some of that sea air in the lungs!
Nice bit of light but when it goes always worth waiting for it to get a bit dimmer and you catch the light on in the Lighthouse.
True that Andrew. :-)

Cracking place and well worth returning when you can Tom. As you say, a lot of good sea air made the trip worthwhile! 👍
I refer to my 14-24 as the Foot Shooter. If I am not careful with composition, guess what's in the picture.
Or a tripod leg! I still get caught out with that if I'm not paying attention!
@@jbairdexp Thanks for the warning😀
