  • For Christmas in 1982, James Bond got us VIP passes into the inner sanctum at Atlanta's City Hall where we videotaped City Council people Robb Pitts, John Lewis, Jim Maddox, Carolyn Long Banks, the distinguished Mayor of Atlanta, Andrew Young, and got to pretend we were the mayor's replacements when he's out of the office. It's hard to imagine a casual atmosphere like this anymore.

Seriously? Why put a black guy on that only wish some people have a merry Christmas, are the others Jewish, they can also have a merry Christmas, my Jewish friends wish me merry Christmas like I wish them happy Hanukkah.
That's the thing about America, just because you don't celebrate Christmas does not mean you can't be merry during our Christmas season, just like even though I'm not Jewish I can have a happy Hanukkah, or romadon or whatever holiday for whom ever it is for.
Merry Christmas to all everyone. Happy Hanukkah or whatever holiday is around for you
May the new year bring all good things to you and may you and yours be happy and healthy

Robert Bradford : Those "black guys" were in charge of Atlanta government. The show only asked them to say Christmas. This was 34 years ago. I'm sure they all would phrase their greetings differently today.
So YOU would be satisfied, and others would get their chance to whine about a "war on Christmas." 🙄

crnkmnky I was being facetious to make a point, if you actually got the point of what I was trying to get across,
But since you didn't, it's ok no biggie I'll explain
I don't care and I don't think anyone should care what greeting your given around the holidays, they're all meant to be good wishes so what does it matter the words the meaning is the same

Robert Bradford : fair enough. also, learning how your neighbors celebrate the holidays is an important gesture of community.
but the point is lost once it turns into a fight…

@@robertbradford3461 I was on this show for 21 years. I getchu. Maybe you agree with the late, great Dick Richards. the white dude on the phone, in his description, and James, Julian Bond's brother who had been City Councilman and Potsy, the woman in this vid who was my 3rd wife, and all of us were bold in a way you can't be today, casual bold. In this and other videos on this channel, celebs on The American Music Show would always think we would edit the awkward parts out. Our purpose would never let us do that. Our motto was "If it's not fun, don't it." With all full respect off-set for the great men who helped make Atlanta the most progressive city in the South, they were not afraid of being human. Rest on in peace, but keep being in the way, John, Julian, Maynard Jackson, et al. And continued love for Ambassador A̶n̶d̶y̶ Young and family.
