Hello Mikie! I have had one for 15 years. Great little beast and so versatile. I may buy a horizontal Combo 2X12 black beautiful Astroverb. Still playing my 97 Reverbosnic as my go to amp. Your creativity still reigns above the rest in my book and on my stage and studio! Enjoy your retirement!
Can’t afford an SLO even though the shop i work for is a dealer. Got a 1x12 Astroverb for $900 used. With an eq and a Archer overdrive i was able to get surprisingly close to the SLO sound. I play vintage to modern punk and a little bit of metal. This amp WILL chug!
Will you guys please do a catalog video on the Decatone? It's my favorite amp; use it all the time... I'd love to see Soldano's official demonstration on it!
What cabinet and speakers do you like with the Astroverb? I'm running mine into an old Avatar 2x12 with a Vintage 30 and WGS Retro 30, but I'm about to swap one of them out for a Greenback.
@@edwardgrassel872 Great! That's what I was going to try. The WGS Retro 30's toned-down upper mids (compared to the V30) make it sound like it is missing "something". Thanks for your reply.
I own one of these and it can do modern heavy metal too even with the pre at 7. Bought the head version for about 800 used. It's a super underrated amp and worth the price. The powerswitch may feel a little chintzy cause its like a soft plastic feel (similar to that of a powerstrip) and there is no effects loop, but really that's a small compromise to one of the best budget boutique amps on the market.
solerso68 That's one opinion. I have one too. When I make a purchase I prefer supporting a real person with a personality as opposed to a faceless corporate machine of investors that assembles their "profit margin" amps from cheap Chinese parts with Chinese slave labor and doesn't care if your amp lasts or not. The 9 seconds of non-self conscious laughter didn't bother me. Just one guy's opinion. ;) Rock on!
Just so all you know this amp is capable of a hell of a lot more that this vid didn't capture and the reverb dare I say is the best I've ever heard on a rock amp. The 2x12 is way way better than the single 1x12 The Reverb and feedback together makes great creative sounds. Also it gets a killer jazz/blues sound .
Hi I’m just starting out learning how to work on repair and possibly build my own guitar tube amps my question is what kind of advice can you give me a good place to start learning more about working on and repairing guitar tube amps
With the preamp at 9 or 10, sure, it's a bit compressed like any amp with the preamp set to saturated the preamp tubes. But I can assure you that soldanos have plenty of presence, treble, highs, mid and CUT if you want it. There are no worries in that department! If you are soloing way up high on the neck with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers (which is NOT what soldanos come with from the factory) it can almost be a bit harsh with a strat, but at the very same time, with the exact same settings and guitar it absolutely nails Alice In Chains tone (even the highly saturated stuff on the 1995 Self-title "Tripod " album). I give it a tiny boost from a BOSS Blues Jr. for the super highly saturated stuff like that, but you really don't need it as you can hear from the demo. The Warehouse Guitar Speakers Retro 30 tames the Vintage 30's high mids, but the taming of these mids does effect the sound, making it a bit less "metal". Maybe there is a very good reason that Mike uses the Eminence X12000 (or something like that)… it probably doesn't have the V30's high mid spike. When I picked up my astroverb from Mike In 2001 and asked him about speakers he said that he likes Greenbacks. If you like Alex Lifeson's awesome tone with Rush... that's greenbacks!
whichever one you see that has the red power light on. none of the playing featured the small 1 x 12 combo. he started out using the 2 x 12 combo and then moved to the amp head and cabinet which judging by it's size must also be a 2 x 12.
Wow, that sucks! :( Mike sold me the astroverb effects loop prototype in 2001 for a steal and let me make payments so I could afford the super-low price he gave me. 14 years later and I'm still loving it through a 2x12 with a Vintage 30 and WGS Retro 30. For many years I wished I could afford the Lucky13 so I'd have the SLO overdrive channel and a Fendery clean (and considered buying the JetCityAmps version of it), but instead I bought a Fender Blues Jr. and a switcher pedal). What do you play now?

This is probably my favorite 1x12 combo using EL84 tubes I have ever heard. quite possibly the perfect small club gigging amp!
I bought one back in the early 90's. Still have it. Fabulous.
Mike really is the coolest guy in the world.
Best amp I ever played.
Please keep these videos coming!!! They are awesome!
Better Call Soldano

i just picked one of these up, and with the right cabinet, it is incredible. Mike, if you read this, bring this to B.A.D NOW

I'm really liking it. Nice tones 👍🏻

Loving these videos! Can't wait for the SLO vid!!
Awesome!!!! My go to amp! Unless I need the big gun then it's the Decatone! You the MaN Mike!
Sounds heavenly
Here is a small Powerfull One! congrats!
Now I have my Fender Stratocaster Blackie, I am looking for an amp giving me the sound of Eric in the 90's area. Is the Astroverb a good choice ?
Starts off as good friend "Eric" Foster and becomes "Evan" Foster....lol
I think Mr Soldano smoked one too many before shooting this vid.
RedroomStudios Yeah the 45 seconds of uncomfortable self conscious laughter at the end was creepy. Very good sounding amp though.

I saw a video that said I could run any cab with it as there is no impedance selector, is that right?
*Haven't watched all the video yet*
how do these newer amps capare to the older Yamaha by soldano
sounds nice but quite compressed ??

Started out featuring the combo and ended up playing with the 4X12?!!. Which amp was I listening to?

Slipping jimmy present his great amp !
This amp goes to 11!
The SLO100 video must be at least 1 hour long !!!!!!!
Yet another video that your plugged into a totally different amp then your demoing. I want to hear how the little combo sounds.
I run mine through a 2x12 (currently loaded with a Vintage 30 and a WGS retro 30) and it sounds amazing.
AC/DC Baby!!
I want it!
nice !
Of course it sounds killer in the demos! You guys see the guitars they're putting through this thing? Must be a Gruhns! LOL!
Worst decision I ever made was selling my Astroverb Head
Wow, that sucks! :(

No more bong hits before demos....
take a taxi
These go to eleven.
Lol no reggae?? ;)
Doesn’t worth 5000€ pal
1 channel ugg
My clean channel is a Fender Blues Jr. :)
because you might need an amp to travel on a bus. ffs. get real.
