Oh, Blue Kaizo, have "Fun" with this! The entire premise of Kaizo Blue isn't just to make a difficult game, it's to remove player choice from the game. You have one path to walk, one viable moveset to use on each pokemon, and you MUST fight every trainer in the game, no option to avoid a fight. By giving all pokemon their best movesets it removes a lot of the opportunity you as a player have to fight against level disadvantage, which you WILL be at because enemy trainers are massively overleveled and even break level cap. They claimed this is "Nuzlocke-able" and while I don't doubt that's true because people are insane, it would take SO MUCH grinding it would cease to be fun. Stat EXP which is the gen 1 equiv to EVs is actually incredibly simple. Every time you KO a pokemon you gain stat EXP for each stat equal to the matching base stat of the pokemon you KOd divided by the number of participants(similar to normal EXP). The square root of the stat exp is then divided by 4 and added to your stats, max 63 points(because the max value is 1 less than 256² when you square root and round down it winds up being 255/4 which when rounded down is 63). Vitamins give 2560 stat EXP for the matching stat, but can't raise it above 25600, which is surprisingly close to maxed out anyway because of the square root(√25600 = 160, 160/4 = 40, 40/63 is pretty good all things considered). Also since there's no overall stat exp cap like there is witn EVs there's no reason to ever avoid stat EXP(with EVs you sometimes want to avoid it because the max EV is 512 but it takes 252 to max the EV for a stat, meaning you can only ever max two stats and any EVs in stats you don't want are EVsyou can't get where you need it).
2:40:10 I'm shocked whoever made the hack didn't just lock you in Mt. Moon, honestly. The moment I saw the "cave exit here" tiles were missing I thought that's what had happened.
2:13:26 Reminds me of my Alpha Sapphire game when I was looking for a non-Solar Power Tropius and I went a half-hour without finding a Tropius at all. 15% shouldn't be that rare.

Also, if you want, you could find a way to hack some rare candies into the game to prevent the hours and hours of grinding but just high enough to reach the next gym leaders highest level mon, but that's up to you and your comfort/what you find fun. Just a suggestion because I've seen some other people who attempted Blue Kaizo just do that to skip the tedious grinding phase, especially later on in the game.
The point of Kaizos is that they are tedious, grindy, and a test of endurance. The rare candies would remove a lot of the emotional stress that the game is designed to invoke. That doesn't mean people making vids shouldn't use it, but at that point they may want to consider why they're doing the challenge and if they have alternative challenges that aren't supposed to be so tedious.
@@watsonwrote No offense but if a game forces you grind shit ton of levels to progress, then most people will just use fast forward to skip the "emotional stress" of grinding at all.
I checked, and Kaizo Blue actually went and removed Leech Seed from the game. Also, since he seemed to look forward to Amnesia: Psyduck gets it (at level 52) but Golduck doesn't. So don't evolve it too soon! Only other pokemon that gets it is Slowbro/poke which is in Cerulean cave.
I suppose stat boosting moves were also removed so that the AI wouldn't accidentally give you the badge boost glitch...and prevent you from doing it intentionally yourself.
Effort Values in gens 1 and 2 are similar. Except the amount it goes up by is the base stat numbers of the pokemon you just fought. So all stats go up a little each fight. The max was some really high number, and all stats can be maxed. So you don't need to choose which 2 stats you want maxed. Essentially, because it's based on the opposing pokemon's base stats, a pokemon with high speed or special like Abra means your EV's for your speed and special will max out first. It's kind of like the newer games where high defense pokemon will help build your defense, but the other stats also raise too in these gens, just at a slower rate
Finished this a few months ago. Good luck, this shit gets crazy. The whole thing is an exercise in problem solving, so its right up your alley. Oh, and grinding. Most battles are beatable 30ish levels under, but whenever you have to raise up multiple new team members for a specific boss fight, it can be pretty annoying. Personally enjoyed the game, but its got its issues
I've never personally played Blue Kaizo, but I beat Crystal Kaizo to Red, and you can definitely expect some over-level 100 mons, mewtwos, and/or both. Honestly though, there's ways to make it fun, like using less conventional picks that are often buffed in hacks like these. For instance, magcargo isn't usually that good, but SinisterHoodedFigure (hacker man) made it and other mons solid members of the team. TL;DR yeah it's gonna suck, but that doesn't mean it's unfun. Just never nuzlocke it. Ever.
Uh, Mew is in the same experience group--Medium Slow--as the starters. Unless BK played with the experience groups, which is possible. More likely is that the developers intentionally underleveled the Mew to make the game at least technically playable.
I played a Yellow Kaizo game once. I hated it. It's not because of the battles being challenging, but because of the maps. The way everything is laid out is ugly, only to make going anywhere and doing anything tediously long. But intentionally making things tedious does not equate to good gameplay or good game design. I think the new Crystal Kaizo had a good formula. The maps are ugly, but with the rare candy and heal bags, it's less about obnoxious back tracking and grinding and more about difficult battles under a hardcore nuzlock ruleset.
"Get angry at the video game." I think by the halfway point, you'll be suffering. Also a huge tip coming from someone who played this, exploiting the Badge Boost glitch is insanely good. Starters you catch as evolved forms only get good moves due to them having them lower leveled then they evolve. For a Grass Type for instance, I recommend Bellsprout or especially Oddish. - A lot of Pokemon and moves have been changed, usually buffed. Usually in the AI's favor but there's a handful of moves that go from garbage to an absolute monster to deal with, such as Razor Wind or Petal Dance. Some Pokemon's evolutions have been changed, like Pidgeot is now gotten at Level 20! But Gyarados is now gotten at Level 25... Generally, try to see what the AI use, and analyze how much of a monster they are to see if you want to use it yourself, if the Pokemon is available to you, that is... - Don't expect to get a Psychic Type of your own, basically at all. In fact, don't expect to get anything considered OU stables. You can still get only a few Pokemon that are OU, usually of types that don't deal with a lot, but remember that some Pokemon are now buffed, so now said OU mons are even less prominent due to a somewhat better balance, but also rigged against you... Even having OU Pokemon of your own, they take a long time or even never to get good moves! - There's NO Stat Experience in this hack. Zero. Not even from Vitamins (I don't think you can even use them anyway). Your only stat booster really is Badge Boost, so you at least still have somewhat a stat advantage over the AI. And that's all I really have to say. Gold Luck with this game! I personally think this is the most fun of SinisterHoodedFigure's Kaizo hacks, but that's mainly because this is Gen 1. He has gotten a lot better when making say, Emerald Kaizo, and Platinum Kaizo is on its way, and I look forward to his creativity for Sinnoh!

Also probably because Asprey has a pretty big and dedicated viewer base on his main channel. Like big enough to get 120k subscribers on a stream vod channel.
Blue Kaizo kinda encompasses a lot of why I tend to hate pokémon difficulty hacks. Instead of making the AI better, change strategies around and make some synergic teams with different movesets for strats they usually just go "hehe numbers go HIGH" with unfair encounters and stupid mechanics like making status effects useless on Gym fights (like great, you completely removed an entire mechanic off the game for no reason) The map design usually is quite obnoxious and a lot of the time the solution to push is just grinding and nothing else Granted I know that Gen 1 is limited and not like they could have done a lot like it is possible afger gen 3 with the abilities and held items, but this mentality kinda stayed there for most of the hacks I see even for later Gens At least Asprey went in knowinv and expecting it to be frustrating, so let's see how well he will do
The thing is RBY don't allow custom movesets like later gens for trainers, the moveset of pokemons in RBY is always decided by the moves the pokemon can use, is why in vanilla you have stuff like arcanine using ember at blaine gym, i saw a lot of RBY romhacks (both normal ones, and the ones that try to be harder) and a lot of them suffer with trainers having poor movesets, while kaizo blue may be a bad kaizo hack, it's the best difficulty hack by far for RBY, the creator of this hack also didn't knew how to change a lot of the actual coding of the game, so some bugs from the original game like the badge boost glitch still end up existing is also why the ai is not really better at all in fact the creator stated the reason every pokemon in this hack lost leer and growl is because they would be useless moves for the ai, all of those limitations and issues of the game itself make it much harder to balance it proper, and at the end of the day this IS a kaizo hack, it's not supposed to just be a bit harder than the vanilla game it's straight up supposed to be super hard, i do agree though that grinding and map design is annoying but something worth remembering is that since in RBY the trainers don't have custom movesets, this mean that if you fight a gym leader in this hack that have a annoying moveset with a specific pokemon then you can 100% catch the pokemon and have the same moveset, this force you to learn the game based on what the trainers use and is kinda neat.
In my head canon Oak caught a Mew transformed in a Bulbasaur and never bothered to check it really was a Bulbasaur.
@Lukas Nero Pretty easy... A ditto transformed when caught is a ditto. He caught the Mew, never opened the ball back up. Thought it was a Bulbasaur.

I enjoyed the video. Good work on the video.
Holy smokes you are actually attempting a Kaizo game. Good luck.
Might be a shot in the dark but might as well post it here. I'm trying to get Kaizo Crystal to work on my Android but I'm not having much luck any tips? I downloaded the rom and the ips and did the patch thingy but its just a txt file now what do I do with that?
Change the file extension to '.gbc'
@@mynameisNeo369 ok that sort of worked it does say kaizo but its sort of corrupted? Any tips? Thank you btw!
EDIT: deleted everything and started the whole process from scratch with changing the file like you said, no corruptions and works fine! Thank you!
Ah yes the classic kaizo rage mod didnt realize they made one for pokemon this is gonna be a good watch.
There are also Crystal Kaizo, Emerald Kaizo and White 2 Kaizo, if I recall correctly
@@Marowak31 Apparently Emerald Kaizo is the hardest one of them all.
@@krystallinekris I’ve played CK and I think it’s the hardest overall of the three. This game just abuses gen 1’s mechanics, and EK is just weather team spam for half the game, and gets really repetitive quick. CK at least had some insane puzzles and great gym bosses. The PTSD of Bugsy’s shuckle is still real kek
Heck yeah more pikasprey content. Great stuff to zone out too
Kaizo + Pokémon == subscribed.
Can anyone please explain to me how he’s playing this in color??? Every hack I see is black and white
1:03:17 Psyduck is only a version exclusive (with Shellder, I believe) on the Gen 3 games.
one turn fly/dig is probably just a workaround for the glitch that doesn't end the temporary invulnerability if you get paralyzed
Forgot to mention, Petal Dance now leeches ala Giga Drain.
Do with that information what you will.
You’re probably experienced enough with Pokémon to roast a vanilla nuzlocke.
He's done a couple, but he says he doesn't enjoy them very much.
Nah, Nuzlockes are lame
@@kinnikuboneman Nuzlockes are just sets of self-imposed rules to increase the difficulty of the game, which is very low. How is that "lame"?
The pokemon fighting system has a lot of complexity that is not represented in the in-game fights because they need to be child-friendly.
Apart from the map, pokemon spawns and trainer teams a very standart experience.
Tough but not Kaizo tough so far
Level 100 Weedle?
Alright. I can’t wait for him to rage like he did in dark rising
Amazing! Keep them coming!
Blue kaizo is how we saw Blue version as kids in terms as difficult and moving around and catching pokemon as well.
Nah, even as a child vanilla blue and red were way too easy
I hope you find some enjoyment on this game! I never played it myself, not my cup of tea personally.
Crystal kaizo > blue kaizo > emerald kaizo, in terms of difficulty
Excuse me, could you please help me locate Evee in Pokemon Blue Kaizo? I cannot find him and I am so close to finishing my dex.
House by 8th gym. Need cut and surf.
Good to see the king of 7U makes an appearance to early
They have this rom downloaded on a physical cart for the game boy and I’m tempted to buy it just so I know I can’t cheat with the emulators
I mean, it could, but good luck.
I think someone made carts that let you insert an SD card and it reads gameboy games off that.
But even then, GameShark and GameGenie exist
“I might have to use an escape rope after going deep here.”
Would definitely come in handy for one night stands
push your knowledge of gen1 to its limit? given that the first wild encounter was with a lv3 pidgey with a level 5 move, I'd say that your knowledge can't be counted on
Lol. Tho I think he’s talking about the busted mechanics
At first I was like what’s so bad about a clefairy
*wild clefairy appears and wipes half his team*
Ekans back sprite has to be a cursed image 🤣
Canon _english_ name. He has always been Green in the japanese game.
There is no such thing as a canonical English name. Then every language would have its own canon. He is just Green.
@@Cetra29in English material he's been Blue, Green refers to the girl.
Since the way Pokemon (and most games) translation worked was they went Japanese to English than English to all other languages this would make Blue the canon names in a lot of other reasons, well, perhaps China and Korea use Green.
Although every language does offer unique preset names for most if not all games later on, usually variations on colours.
Like in Black/White, the various languages have the Male character default to Black, Blake, Blaire, and a few others.
What make Red, Blue, and Green unique is they either don't have variances, or no one acknowledges them. I think even Gold/Ethan has different names even if Silver doesn't
How do you get these rom Hacks id love to play some of them!
That must have been Falkners Pidgey
Having only played halfway through Emerald Kaizo because i made the smart decision of only using water pokemon, i'm looking forward to seeing this and maybe try it myself.
hey, I noticed the link to the game trailer is wrong, it links to Pokémon Fools Gold instead.
Good eye!
You know you made it when scammers try and use your name!
YES THIS IS THE SHIT I LIVE FOR CHRISTIAN
This definitely doesn't look Kaizo. More "excessive inconvenience" 🤔
Venusaur is just better then Vileplume objectively cause gen 1 stats
Enjoying the series and I joined in the hell ride too loving and hating the game.
How do you skip a vulpix….. sure you won’t evolve it for a while, but you need type coverage. Not to mention it would be super easy to level up in veridian forest…

Who the fuck does a kaizo dex run
Oh man, good luck with this game. It's fun but in a masochistic kind of way.

Are the pokemon the gym leaders have max DVed and EVed out?
Normal type is arguably as strong as psychic
I was like isn't that charmander's spot hahaha
Good I dont gotta play when I can watch this
pikas-Rey can u post the link to download it
27:04 buff Pidgey
I remember played pokemo blue
.. But was not like this.... Why this one is so different????? Someone help me?

It's pokemon blue KAIZO not pokemon blue.
I'm surprised in gen 1 no one had Golem
Because it's a trade pokemon

where can I play this?
Kaizo softlock when?
Anyone have a recommendation on the best way to play this?
You make It look too easy!
get a diglett so you can dig rather than spending money on escape ropes
I started an Emerald Kaizo let's play a few days ago. Do you have any idea why waaaay less people come around when I do it? :(
Probably because there are already tons of video on EM Kaizo. If you’re not nuzlocking it no one is coming.
@@KhanMann66 thank you for the response! You are probably right :3
Also probably because Asprey has a pretty big and dedicated viewer base on his main channel. Like big enough to get 120k subscribers on a stream vod channel.
Blue Kaizo kinda encompasses a lot of why I tend to hate pokémon difficulty hacks. Instead of making the AI better, change strategies around and make some synergic teams with different movesets for strats they usually just go "hehe numbers go HIGH" with unfair encounters and stupid mechanics like making status effects useless on Gym fights (like great, you completely removed an entire mechanic off the game for no reason)
The map design usually is quite obnoxious and a lot of the time the solution to push is just grinding and nothing else
Granted I know that Gen 1 is limited and not like they could have done a lot like it is possible afger gen 3 with the abilities and held items, but this mentality kinda stayed there for most of the hacks I see even for later Gens
At least Asprey went in knowinv and expecting it to be frustrating, so let's see how well he will do
The thing is RBY don't allow custom movesets like later gens for trainers, the moveset of pokemons in RBY is always decided by the moves the pokemon can use, is why in vanilla you have stuff like arcanine using ember at blaine gym, i saw a lot of RBY romhacks (both normal ones, and the ones that try to be harder) and a lot of them suffer with trainers having poor movesets, while kaizo blue may be a bad kaizo hack, it's the best difficulty hack by far for RBY, the creator of this hack also didn't knew how to change a lot of the actual coding of the game, so some bugs from the original game like the badge boost glitch still end up existing is also why the ai is not really better at all in fact the creator stated the reason every pokemon in this hack lost leer and growl is because they would be useless moves for the ai, all of those limitations and issues of the game itself make it much harder to balance it proper, and at the end of the day this IS a kaizo hack, it's not supposed to just be a bit harder than the vanilla game it's straight up supposed to be super hard, i do agree though that grinding and map design is annoying but something worth remembering is that since in RBY the trainers don't have custom movesets, this mean that if you fight a gym leader in this hack that have a annoying moveset with a specific pokemon then you can 100% catch the pokemon and have the same moveset, this force you to learn the game based on what the trainers use and is kinda neat.
Excuse me, could you please help me locate Evee in Pokemon Blue Kaizo? I cannot find him and I am so close to finishing my dex.
