  • I built a simple chick brooder dining table to keep them from kicking pine shavings into their water and feeders. So far it has worked perfectly.
When the chicks kick the shavings into their water, the shavings would quickly soak up the water increasing the amount of times per day I would have to provide fresh water.
The chick brooder dining table is a good idea!

Love this idea for a brooder and great idea for preventing the shavings from going inside as well 😊

I thought you were just going to put it OVER the feeder. I was like, "that won't do anything!" Oh.... if they stand on it, they can't kick shavings in. Genius!!! 👍

Chickens scratch. It's in their nature. Chickens roost. It's in their nature, too. Maybe they need a bar to sit on so they don't 'roost' on their feeder? chuckle, chuckle

    Hey there,
I'm running quail for the very first time in volume (67 so far, two more egg hatches to do) and man, do they ever make a mess and b being so much smaller than chickens it doesn't take much before they get wet and die from hypothermia (even in a brooder with 100F-104F heat from the 250W heat lamp......
I've decided to buy some Columbus Aqua horizontal nipple waterers and give them a whirl! They're NOT cheap (or cheep if you will, at $2 each...but, NOT from Red Wuhan Virus China, better built with a lifetime guarrantee) but I'm going to spend the money because I started out with 71 chicks and have lost 4 so far.......which does NOT make me happy!!!
I've subbed to your channel and look forward to looking at your other videos!
Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY
