Seeing you step out onto the same exact rocks at Jordan Pond where my mom and I used to stop and watch the sunfish was my favorite moment. It was actual emotional to see someone in that place. Thanks for showing my favorite state and the coastal region that were so formative in my life. You’re the best!
Our small family spent a few days visiting Mount Desert Island and Acadia NP. One morning we were up at 3:30 to be on Cadillac Mountain for the sunrise. It was dark, windy, and cold on the mountain when we arrived. The weather was in no way a deterrent. It added to the adventure. It was cloudy that morning. A morning that the cloud cover was low lying as it rolled in from the Atlantic. Sweeping over Cadillac Mountain in the same manner and motion the waves from the ocean break on the shore. As the sun rose the light illuminated the cloud cover so that it appeared the clouds blanketing the mountain and shoreline were emblazed into a soft fire that would warm and soothe yet would not be hot to the touch. Watching the sunrise, taking photo after photo, it was easy to imagine that had SE Hinton written a follow up to The Outsiders she might have placed Ponyboy Curtis on Cadillac Mountain for the sunrise.
Loved the episode, Samantha. Long time viewer and know Maine well. What an absolute treasure that everyone should visit and enjoy. Proud of all the Mainers highlighted here as well. Keep up the great work! Signed, A native Floridian
Hey Samantha .... Been following you for decades !! You do an EXCEPTIONAL job, at showing travel destinations .... Being from Mass myself, I travel several times a year to both NH and coastal Maine .... I truly LOVE this area .... "Thank you" for this great video !! 😁👌👍👍👍👍
Whenever I gripe about the winter here I console myself with the idea that millions of people worldwide work 50 weeks a year so they can spend a couple of weeks in this magnificent place!
So glad I found this video! We were fortunate to live 24 years in NH and visited the magical coast of Maine often. Bar Harbor being one of our all time favorites, along with Ogunquit. Retired now in NC but we head back to northern New England each year to get our “fix”. There simply is nothing like it. Thanks Samantha!
My daughter And her family now live in Maine. We went up2 summers ago and stayed in boothbay harbor. Beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful country up there.... Hopefully hopefully we can go back. Soon
Coastal Maine is so beautiful. I particularly enjoyed taking the side roads down a random peninsula and checking out the small lobster villages along the way. Of course, being a travel geek, i had to check out the Eartha Globe in Yarmouth-the world's largest globe. One thing that I noticed in both your video and from my own experience in 2011, was that the thick Maine accent seems to be disappearing as America becomes more homogeneous, which is a little disappointing. Thanks for a great trip down memory lane.
My wife and me spent out honeymoon in Maine. We traveled up US1 to Bar Harbor and spent the day climbing Cadillac Mt. Our lunch consisted of eating Maine Coast chips and bottled water while overlooking the Harbor. What a great day.
I'm so glad to come across your channel! I watched you for so long in the past, and it's amazing to see your smiling face again. Hope all is well in your world, Samantha.
Wow such a great surprise to have you on you tube. I always watched your shows and you and how genuine you are and such a fun host. I live in York and I never get bored of our State. Luckily Beautiful Portsmouth were you grew up is right next door. Thankyou for all the joy .🙏💕🦌
Oh wow! I didn’t know you had a channel here! Im subscribing! I’ve missed seeing your shows, don’t have cable etc. I remember when you started your travel shows. You have a real gift for what you do. Love your infectious personality. I’ve been looking at Maine as a place to possibly move to. Beautiful!
I love your presentations, Samantha! Will you visit Puerto Rico and Guam? I'm hoping for more success for you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
Come back in August for the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival for blueberry everything and I mean everything. The next time you're on the coast you should stop in Ogunquit, it's absolutely charming.
From New England but only been to Maine once! Incredible . But note to travelers entering Bar Harbor in a car during high season is a NIGHTMARE and this was from the late 90s! Just stay in town and walk only. Or do what she did and do it after summer. Sunrise at Acadia is AMAZING and whale watch!!!!!
Oh, dear... I've gone over two decades back in time! No idea you were on UA-cam as well. I have to say, you hosted your show really well back in the day. (And I would've treasured it even more if I'd know that it was to be among the last of the classic, pre-social media, pre-Kardarshian era.) Subscribed... just cause 😏 Happy to see you again, Samantha. God bless!
A quarter century! And we've been right along with you. It's good to see you again with this show on our home state. Next summer travel up to the Moosehead region to explore. Need tips? Let me know.
Great video. Maine is gorgeous. I visited Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park once and would love to go back. I've been to Portland and Poland Springs (also once). I've been to Ogunquit and Kennebunkport a few times. I wouldn't mind going every year.
3 am and I'm craving blueberry pie and scones right now!! ❤ Okay, but seriously, who DOESN'T put mayo on their hotdog? This information is new to me. Maybe someone in my family picked up a taste for it somewhere between Texas and California. 😂 Colour me shook. 😂😂
@@RealSamanthaBrown this year 3 weeks at barharbor, edgewater cottage, and 1 week wells beach. schoodic point is always quieter than mt desert island part of the park. hope you dined out, galyns, peaky toes
From what I read online, including Google Maps official listing, the Bread Box Bakery has permanently closed. I found this info after this segment peaked my interest in going there.
So I went on to Google Maps to find the Bread Box Bakery and it says that it’s closed permanently. Is that correct? If not, where is the one you went to located?
Well, you managed to touch on a few highlights of Maine, but you missed about 99.9% of the rest. Obviously you had a time constraint in your review, but to do justice to the beautiful state of Maine you would need about an hour or so. I have traveled to many states across the U.S. and in my mind, there is no other like Maine. Go back again and spend a couple of weeks and get the real lay of the land.
@@RealSamanthaBrown In the "famous words" of past actor .... "Do it Again, Sam" LOL (maybe start next time in Kittery, up the coast to Old Orchard Beach, to Portland ....) ???
For those who have thousands to spend- and, if they don't and if the locals turn their noses up to newcomers can the newcomers end up out in the streets homeless or in a jail. Or pushed off the mountain. You tube videos show the bad parts of being up East. That movie about the married worker that had an affair with a newcomer then killed her for expecting him to leave his wife.

This episode, especially the Lighthouse, reminded us of one of our favourite TV series "Haven" which was based in the beautiful city of Maine.. 🤩

It’s tough to pick a scene, there all good. That said a blueberry 🫐 pie with the fruit being the “main character” I’m all in😊
It’s so good - that’s exactly how Maine makes it!
I'm in Eastern NH. I think I eat a fairly healthy diet, but with exceptions. A Flo's Special dog is one of them! 👍
Definitely a good exception!!!
