I cannot stress enough how heartbreaking this sad truth is.... Too many people impulse buy parrots because of cute or funny traits they've seen in other birds.
A life stuck in a cage is cruel and so unfair to these magnificent beautiful creatures.
They deserve the absolute best!
If you are interested in a parrot, adopt one because you have the time, money, patience, energy and if you want to save them from a life stuck behind bars, not solely because they are cute or funny or talk etc.
Again parrots are a LIFETIME commitment.
They can live up to 80+ years!! Which means they just might outlive you, and where will they go if something happens to you and one day you don't come home? What will happen to them? Who will love them and care for them? All things to consider....
I've given up many many things to give my two parrots and other animals the best life they can possibly have!
It is an honor to share our lives with these amazing creatures.
Please ADOPT DONT SHOP!
Please choose not to buy babies from a breeder who breeds for profit, there are thousands of birds suffering in cages abandoned and unloved waiting in sanctuaries and rescues, for homes to be cared for properly and loved.
PLEASE do your research and educate yourself before adopting, they are a lot of hard work but so worth it if you do things right and do what is best for them.
After all, we have our friends, our jobs, and our hobbies, they only have us💗❗️❗️

My favorite Gotcha video is the one where he wanted to get in the bathroom and your husband was teasing him by shoving a hairbrush under the closed door. Gotcha's very impressive vocabulary and righteous indignation are absolutely unforgettable. What a precious cockatoo! ❤️
I love his "peg leg" gait when he's walking fast - "Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!!" (The stories Kobe could tell. . . )

Your videos have got me wanting a cockatoo of my own, but my wife is dubious. She says the constant chatter will drive her crazy. She already hears enough chatter from me.
Oh yes I know many many many MANY people who love Gotcha but. and handle him long term lol. They like short visits and that’s all they can deal with 😂
@@GotchaBird My eldest daughter lives in Texas, where her mother in law owns an African Gray, I believe it is. Constant chatter. I had budgies as a boy, two of which talked.
I've seen many talking birds on UA-cam, but Gotcha is my #1, Einstein my #2. I discovered one of your videos in which Gotcha says "city boy" several times, which prompts me to share this anecdote.
In my 20's I visited my buddy's house (we live in Ontario, Canada and can have severe winters) only to find he was out, driving his Dad's pickup truck in a snowstorm. His Dad grew up on a family farm as the youngest of 17 kids. Anyway, my buddy called the house for his Dad to come get him. When they got home his Dad was razzing him about being a city boy who couldn't drive in snow.
Imagine the feeling I got when it seemed as if Gotcha was telling the story: "The day I got rescued. The Dad, what did he do? I'm not a city boy!" Then later in Gotcha's monologue, "I got rocks, city boy."
I sent the video to my buddy and we had a great laugh, recounting that day about 40 years ago. Gotcha should be registered in some archive as a National Treasure.

45-60 is still a pretty good lifespan. He'll see grandkids!

Gotcha is always adorable but the look in Kobi's eyes looking at you was precious. That dog loves you so much. They say when a dog looks at you that way it's because you mean so much to them and they want to be near you. My German Shepherd does the same thing to me... I'll wake up to her just staring at me as if she's worried I'll stop breathing. hahaha

it honestly kinda perplexes me how Gotcha can just walk up the stairs with such relative ease in contrast to other birds of the same relative size that also decide to walk up the stairs since other birds usually use their beaks and feet to help them climb up, but gotcha just uses his feet and grips the corners. it just amazes me

Read the description above... And that's not the half of it. A large cockatoo can amputate a finger. I have permanent scars on my arms from the ones I've owned. And if you think you'll never be bitten, think again. Cockatoos are not domesticated like dogs and cats. At their core, they are still wild animals, and when their instincts get triggered, watch out. They are also more destructive than you can imagine. I once had a Moluccan like the one in this video, and watched him chew a 2X6 in two. If you prize your possessions, then forget getting a cockatoo. They can and will destroy things in your home. They are also incredibly loud - think fire truck siren loud. I'm not kidding. And finally, they require several hours of one on one, every single day of their lives. If you can't provide that, then don't get one. Otherwise, your expensive new bird will develop neuroses that result in intolerably bad behavior, and self mutilation that can lead to your bird's death. Seriously folks, these birds are more challenging than a two year old child: louder, more destructive, more demanding, and more expensive - and they live longer than most humans...

David is right. His veterinarian told me he was either born that way or it’s from an injury before he came to me. Either way it’s the only gate I’ve known him to have and he’s not in an discomfort ☺️
