    All good stuff, I like to mark the wheels on the drivers side, then you can look out of the window to line it up.

    Your videos are extremely useful. Realise this is quite old video. And perhaps you've realised by now. Far better to peg drivers side for driving away I put peg in centre of wheel. When coming back. Don't need any assistance or keep getting out. Just stick your head out of window to get it perfect

    Hi just a thought why don’t you mark the van position on the driver side that way if your on your own you can pop your head out of the window and see the markers as you re position

      you beat me too it
      the other advantage is it can stay there for the duration of the stay with out being a trip hazzard in the awning

    Does the awning have to connect to the keder rails? Is there a way of having guide ropes for that tunnel that go over the roof of the van and peg to the opposite side? Seems way more logical than having to position the van so accurately...?

    would say it would be better to pick up some (rolson) red / yellow webbing strap at the pound shop and mark out around all the wheels and extended back a few feet then you reserve your space on a pitch rather than come back with someone intruding your van space

    I think the only reason he didn’t mark the offside wheels is because of the placement of the static camera?
    What about a mark on centre of bonnet and a hi viz ground stake just high enough to see from drivers seat

  • @philipwest6331
    @philipwest6331 3 роки тому +3

    Have received awning, now waiting for delivery of my campervan. Is there any reason why you can't put the wheel pegs and marker line on the driver's side, to make it easier to line up when approaching (and look out of the driver's door window to save dismounting to check alignment)?

    I am looking to buy a VW Caddymax, van in the Spring of 2020, primarily for my Pluming and Heating business, but I also want to go away camping in it at weekends, and I was thinking about a ;zip on/off driveaway awning, please can you recommend a suitable selection? cheers dx

    • @AttwoollsCoUk
      @AttwoollsCoUk  4 роки тому

      David Waterhouse I would certainly recommend getting some kind of a rail fitted to your van (like a multi rail or ‘C’ rail) then you will be able to attach the awning in easily.
      As I doubt anybody will be sleeping in the van you’ll need an awning with plenty of space for living in, as well as to sleep a couple of people in (if not more). I think the Vango Galli would be a good option, or even the Kampa Touring VW. (Please see the links below)

    I think it would have been easier to reverse as shorter distance to judge

    • @richardcope3850
      @richardcope3850 3 роки тому

      Likewise, you can use a reversing camera or just line up in the door mirror. Simples!

  • @MartsTravel

    You need a Kador strip inbetween much easier

  • @peterrieu-clarke8845
    @peterrieu-clarke8845 2 роки тому

    Given that it is not often possible to drive behind your pitch it would be better to reverse in using your wing mirrors.
