The prototyping comment was brilliant. I was feeling like an idiot because I was going to scrap a design on something I was working on... now it's just a prototype that didn't work and I can move to the next iteration without beating myself up. Thanks for putting that out there.

I am not creative at all, but have been told I’m very talented. I draw inspiration from Pinterest to spark a thought, and after going over it hundreds of times, that’s what makes me ‘talented’ in my one-off projects. I don’t come up with something completely new, just improve and put my own unique twist on it.

starting from things you’ve seen or that have already been done is a great approach. I bet you’re more creative than you give yourself credit.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👊🏻

Great video Rob...i have the same issues with creativity. I'm a perfectionist and that really hampers projects. I've started creating systems and processes to channel my ideas rather than "winging" it. Life got in the way of my channel this year, but its been a blessing in disguise. I took the downtime to really figure out how to be as productive as possible.
I already have 15 videos scripted ready for next year and have really got my passion back. Happy holidays man 👊

      Thanks dude.
Yeah I’m pretty bad at the winging it thing, and I need to be better about scripting. That might help with the talking part that I struggle with. 😂
      Happy holidays to you too!👊🏻

Sometimes, creativity is like ice fishing. You know how to drill the hole, but it's how you catch the fish is the real gole

Rob, i can certainly agree with everything that you had to say within this video as I'm completely brand spanking New to woodworking in every sense, you can certainly call me a woodworking virgin for sure. That said I know that i really want to learn how to do woodworking and have done for a number of years, rather desperately in the past 6 to 8 years. But like you said in the video what type of work i really do not have a clue !!!. Now that I have almost finished building my very first workshop I've been trying to think about what I want to build etc and like alot of people I'm not creative enough to be plucking idea's out of thin air, so in my wisdom I bought a laser by Gweike which is very similar to Xtool and another stupidly expensive make (still boxed!) 😢 but still not had any creative ideas yet so what's next?. Yep i just bought a new cnc from carbide 3d (never used one😢!). Now I happen to agree that it is a bit strange to be getting these item's for the workshop before I'm even ready, let alone what type of thing's I would like to make, but honestly I'm in the mindset of " Well if I've got these item's then the only person to blame if i don't create anything is ME !". Is this going to be one of those times when we buy something and then spend an eternity trying to get to grips with how to use them 🤔. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧 ( 🤡 ).

I don’t think it’s strange that you have bought those tools at all. It shows you have the interest, and once you start using them the ideas will start coming. That’s where the routine comes in.😜
A laser and cnc are on my list, so I’m definitely jealous! Keep me posted on all the stuff you make!
Thank you for watching, and taking the time to comment. I truly appreciate it. 👊🏻

    Good luck
I tell my kids find what you like to do that does not involve other people or electronics
