Our first car was a 1980 Ford fiesta L. The rear parcel shelf made a useful nappy changing table (high up on Dartmoor in a northerly gale! ). We also took it on the ferry to Sweden and drove to and all around Finland one summer. It didn't miss a beat and was great fun on the gravel roads in Finland 😊
Skip the car show and spend more time with your lovely wife. As for the sludge, you'll probably find that using high detergent oil will gradually remove it. Some say using that "causes leaks," but it only reveals the truth of the engine's condition. Keep up the great work, am loving the channel. Cheers from Christchurch NZ.
Well done Guys what a Great little Ford you have there, NEC I use to show my Vehicles there its not what it use to be i would stay home and save your money...
A good friend of mine in college drove a bright yellow one of these for all four years. He was a 6’5” hockey player and it was quite a sight to see him getting in and out of that little banana colored box. He really loved that little car though and we all loved watching him drive it.
Looking forward to seeing more videos on the Fiesta and A30. Loved Claire's look on her face when Elton was trying to get the oil drain plug out. Made me chuckle. You make a great team. Cheers
Yes to the NEC show - I go every year, biggest show of its type for sure. If you’re there Sunday, I might see you… or more likely you’ll spot me first! 😉
You can do it in a day, depending on how long you dwell. Car clubs, auto jumble, auction, car sales, tool vendors, main stage etc. There’s also the Restoration show in March which would be more up your street and maybe something you could exhibit at?
Used to go to the NEC years back but the price of a ticket these days is bonkers expensive. Loving the little Ford. My mum had a MK2 for a few years which was a great little motor. Great drive, very chuckable, kind of like a sophisticated Mini.
Agree with that, the classic is mainly car clubs showing pristine examples, good auto jumble if you’re looking for parts. Small resto area with demos done by one of the technical colleges. Lots of dealers selling more modern classics.
We’re away at the moment, covering the Manor Park Classics auction, but I can’t stop thinking how cool it will be to have a go at starting that A30 next week!
Oil changes have been neglected. Thats what causes that. 😞 Despite it looking Fab. the engine etc was neglected. Its a beauty !!!!! nothing TLC wont fix
My first car should have been a mk1 Fiesta, but the insurance was a bit more expensive than I’d budgeted for, so I had to compromise. I got a Peugeot 104! It was a great little car too, but mechanics hated working on it…. All Things Alex is selling one if you’re up for a challenge… it needs a head gasket, which on a 104 is an engine out job….!
Hi. I have 1999 ford finesse 1.31 MOT, good runner, quite clean underneath. Starts first time every time. Body work is good, few little marks. Any rough idea of value please? Chaz
The worst fiesta i ever saw for emulsified oil in the rocker cover. It was so bad the cover was completely full of sludge the only space was the tappets rocking made an indent in the solidified oil. The engine ran but sounded awful.😁❤
Really loving seeing the mk1 Fiesta videos, such a simple car to work on, please promise no XR2 alloys or Interior ,take care.
Brilliant job on the cleaning...looks great...

My mk1 fiesta was off the road for 25 or so years that use over heat until i gave the rad and engine a good flush out. Loving the content.

Thank you for another great video, looking forward to further progress on the A30 and the Fiesta.👍

Blimey, he probably had shoes bigger than his car 😂

Another great video from you two. Always look forward to watching them.👍👍
Thank you, that’s very kind of you.
Those Kent/Valencia engines are tough, with some love you have engine for ages
Excellent. A romantic trip in a Transit van to a spare parts shop, what more could a girl want! 😀 Love the Fiesta.
That clattery engine brings back memories.
My modern Transit is much the same, to be honest 😂

We’ll definitely go to the March one and, possibly, get a small stand there.
Brilliant video guys

NEC show is good . There is a classic car restoration show there usually around March time which might be more your thing 😊

Love these old MK1 Fiestas. Considering it’s age, it’s done well. Most of us are showing signs of rust here and there at over 40 😂
Good to see the Fiesta coming along. I'm sure you'll get the metal worm sorted, and the A30 waiting for attention in the background. 👍

@@UKBarnFinds Brill. Looking forward to it, have a great time 👍
get the Fords done guys

Don't waste my time with expensive snake oil engine flush, just throw in a litre of diesel as I have done for over 40 years, same effect.
I’ll give that a go!
😊😊😊
Not tried it but, I’ve heard NON foaming carpet shampoo helps clean the coolant system. Don’t use real poo. It won’t help🤣
Will you show us under valve cover to see if flush broke up the sludge

If you search ‘1999 ford fiesta finesse’ on eBay UK and select ‘completed items’, one sold recently for over £4,000 😳

Can you do an old Volvo 740 ,Volvo geek here.
We have actually made a few videos about our 740, although not recently. First one was here - ua-cam.com/video/ua7dXzVUeCo/v-deo.html

Thanks, Steve. Glad you're enjoying it. We are using the 740, but just haven't been filming it. It's a brilliant ell-weather car!
