My very favorite Steely Dan song. This is the best cover by any group for any song. Just astounding. The talk box is what makes this jam one of the greatest jams ever.
@@mrp4u Of course not but for goodness sake man, this isn't the real Steely Dan so lighten up and give these guys some praise. A truly fantastic cover indeed.
I said to myself after hearing the first 30 seconds 'the good thing about steely dan is that they always sound as good live as on the albums.' Then I realised it was just an amazing covers band. Great job
I heard that when Steely Dan won a Grammy a few years ago they flew Hank and some of the other members of the the Damned to New York to play their Grammy party. Which, if true, seems insanely cool to me.
Guys I have to say,I'm a MASSIVE Dan fan & that was THE BEST I've come across on UA-cam of ANY band covering a DAN song. That was just FANTASTIC.....Well done;-)
every night before I go to bed I listen to two or three Steely Dan songs at least in honor of my little brother who now has gone on to heaven. my heart is so broken but when I listen to the Dan it's as if he can hear it and he's sitting right there with me. have peace now brother see you soon.
This clip was 2 track off the board. I've got the whole night on DVD but most of the guitar is not loud enough because of my stage volume. The other clips were from 2 mic's in the house. Glad you like them. Thanks, Hank
Don't bother covering this song without the TalkBox. It's THE signature of the song. This cat NAILED IT. And... am I the only one who's hearing some "Do you feel like I do" in there? If so, it's goddamn brilliant. I've listened to that solo at the end about 20 times. Damn!!
Just when you think that it could make you weep, knowing that you will never find a video clip of Larry Carlton playing that solo with the talkbox... then what better to find this. This is superb. It baffles me how Don and Walter haven't drafted Hank Easton in. Love the bit in the closing solo where he gives the band a shout with the "Do you like The Damned?" Tremendous. Thank you Hank.
It takes about 12 people to cover Steeley Dan amazing🤣🤣Always used to put this on the Pub juke box in the Bulls Head Hayfield Derbyshire in the 70s.😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hank, YES! I like the Damned! OMFG! I have just three words for you: A - MA - ZING! Ya killed it. Hitting all the accents, but also making it your own. Nice work.
Fantastic cover of one of the best guitar solos of all time. I may have been at this show. I used to see The Steely Damned pretty much whenever they played at the Catamaran during this era. Best SD tribute I've ever seen.
One of the greatest live performances I've ever had the privilege to listen to. I've always loved this song. Been a Steely Dan fan since the 70's but never had a chance to see them. thanx for the post.
Thanks for uploading. Saw you many times around SD and at the Catamaran as well. Probably there that night. You guys really nailed everything you played. Great memories.
This is impressive to say the least. This is a very difficult song to perform live. One of the best SD covers I have listened to. I am pretty sure Mr. Fagen and Mr. Becker approves this interpretation.
Steely Damned = Professional musicianship at its best, especially Hank Easton. You really should be front and center. The guitar is the soul of this piece.
Fantastic - what a fabulous band and cover. The guitarist is amazing. Wonderful control and superb playing and voice box technique. Just wish I had half that talent. Congratulations to the whole band on a magical performance. Thank you for the video.
“5:00, “Do you like The Damned.” Hank so killing it. Was at this show and many others at the Catarman and many other spots in SD at the time. Thank you Hank and that whole crew. Very good times!
I am learning to play bass and the bass line is killer. Hank Easton the guitar player in the video just blows me away totally with his incredible riffs and voice box work. As a student of music I can really begin to appreciate the incredible hard work and talent it takes to do it. This is one of my favorite videos. It lifts me off the ground!
Congratulations.....Great Job on the cover....It ranks with the original....Love the talk box work that Hank does on this number....Thanx for the post.....
My very favorite Steely Dan song. This is the best cover by any group for any song. Just astounding. The talk box is what makes this jam one of the greatest jams ever.
An awesome version of "Haitian Divorce". Hank Easton on the Talk Box rocks! He makes it sound like the studio original.
This is not a cover or a version ... it is an amazingly perfect recital. Mozart will be proud.
I would never of believed that somebody could cover that song so well. Almost no difference to the original. Well done!!! . . .
100% true!
almost, BUT no one sang this like "THE REAL Donald F." cant compare always

Of course not but for goodness sake man, this isn't the real Steely Dan so lighten up and give these guys some praise. A truly fantastic cover indeed.
@@Stringbean421 So true. Excellent comment.

The best cover of the original by far
Don't understand. Isn't this the original?
It is not. This is the Steely damned, the original was by Steely Dan. Excellent cover though, certainly the best I have heard so far.

Nice Guitar work by Hank Easton with his Talkbox. Great Cover of an epic Steely Dan hit.

The best SD cover band ever, hands down. Bob Tedde, Hank Easton, Ruby, fuck they absolutely killed it. Killed it.
Don't bother covering this song without the TalkBox. It's THE signature of the song. This cat NAILED IT. And... am I the only one who's hearing some "Do you feel like I do" in there? If so, it's goddamn brilliant. I've listened to that solo at the end about 20 times. Damn!!
Hank is talking "Do you like The Damned" I believe. And, yes, he's brilliant.
Brilliant singer
Outstanding cover. Hank nailed the piece. Tight band, I wish they would come to the UK.

That's fantastic! It is a superb jam, with Hank Easton performing with a creative guitar/talk box solos! Loved!
You know who my new favorite guitar player is? Hank Easton. If a cover performance can be better than the original, Hank just proved it.
It takes about 12 people to cover Steeley Dan amazing🤣🤣Always used to put this on the Pub juke box in the Bulls Head Hayfield Derbyshire in the 70s.😊😊😊😊😊😊
