Great Video! I've been using Heavy Flail with Pestilence/IG/VG depending on what my army needs me to be and I Love that you made a video about the VG variant! Here are a few comments I have :) Reinforced vitality is not worth taking at all it literally gives barely any health and there are a lot better perks, and id rather give 20% fortify for 8s to allies with Barrage and simultaneously block a lot of dmg(using Michael cleansing debuffs, empowering, and Proccing multiple new and old fortifies) AND cause an AoE stagger, than 50% fortify for 3 hits with Bludgeon, I mean in a span of 3s in your position you would literally be hit anywhere between 5-15+ times in that 3s. Also Flail marry is debatable bc of its conditions and CD timer, personally I dont take. The value that you get from extending hella debuffs from Vital Embrace is insane for extending debuffs especially with Vortex. Pls test of oppressive advantage refreshes the timer every time you proc it. Keep these amazing vids up! Please make a Heavy Flail Pestilence video!
yea I think barrage is better but barrage requires 5 perks to be better vs blug is 1 perk and it's decent value for clump fights lol. I'm going to try reinforced vitality, felt good in opr.
Yo mecrow, have had people saying the harnessing perks and damage on ring counts towards empower cap. If this is the case, I would need to reconsider certain aspects of my build and there would be less need for empower. Could you do a deep dive into damage setup using the 4 pools and explain what contributes to each pool?

Exploitation is way stronger. You're a unique, reliable source of Exhaust (because the other supports are not melee), which is easily the most rare debuff in common circulation. Most clumps get 20% Exhaust from WH; with a Flail, it goes up to 45% (with Happy Flails and Exploitation). If you want Plagued Crits, you can run Pestilence as the secondary with the Magnetic Gloves. Old school Double Down tank setup with Plagued Nades, Net Shot, and Blast Shot. The heavy attack after a Trip will proc Plagued Strikes.
Playing the same build. Going for trip for arenas. Barrage for open world and ward for wars. Full SH/SF and health which makes me almost immortal. Was hoping voidplate would be any good but it onky increasing 20% chest armor 😅 tumbler are insane for that build as well. Freedom is okay i guess.
Hey @Mecrow with the shirking heals getting nerfed what defensive perks will be the next meta for medium bruiser? health ------>grit ward or shirking ? Some players talking about orb counters too much the shirking fort with the perk being meta in weapon for void users.
Started putting this build together after your visit. Also getting pieces to switch from VG to BB. Slow going because I'm gold poor. Any tips on where to get gear that could become BIS at kiln later?
This build is very good, but for open world PVP, I prefer to play with the artifact blunderbuss. This way I apply disease to targets, even hitting with Flail and I can better control targets that try to escape.
Another question. Mending Vortex. Is it really worth it? Again the healing feels so miniscule. I am considering running Keratin Kite Shield w/ Counter Attack, Refreshing & Keen Speed and then Ref Move / Smite / Attu or Exploitation on Flail. Also think Keen Speed is not worth it over Attu on the VG since you'll swap off the VG right after using your spells most of the time and therefore lose the Keen Speed.
It's been a month, and I've come to the conclusion that this build is extremely overrated. Flail is strong, but VG as a secondary is a head scratcher. It will never replace a VG/IG because of the timing issues. As you said yourself, the combo is Smite, Vortex, Trip/Bludgeon, then disengage while the Freedom buff is up. There is no opportunity to safely and reliable use any of the VG skills, and the dedicated VG is simply going to have way more uptime than you ever will due to Magnetic Gauntlets. Also, from the VODs I have seen, it feels like its performance highly correlated with roster strength. That is, this build helps strong rosters win more, but it is pretty much useless in a war with matched rosters and will not move the needle in the same way a skilled VG/IG or BB/IG can. Now, I have not seen any EU VODs, which you say are really good, but I've been asking people all over the place for them, and nobody seems to have any, which makes it just sound like propo or something. Reminds me of Smolder Kittens or Spear/IG all over again. Speaking of which, SNS/VG was like this two seasons back. It was worse than SNS/IG for the same timing reasons (no tank should be dropping block to place an Oblivion during a clump fight), but people kept running it based on the inertia of your reputation for the longest time. I guess at the very least, it speaks to your influence.
Yea the spear ig flopped hard, but think I’ve generally been pretty close. Sns vg was better in that meta but optimally yes another vg should drop an oblivion for you. At the time no vg did so intentionally to me so I did it for myself. Flail ig and bb are arguably better, but are harder to slot in a war roster. You usually want 2-3 VGs on point team so that’d prob turn into a vg ig slot in which ur igl is your only source of flail buffs, which is just a bad idea for tryna stay alive.
@@mecr0w True. Theorycrafting is always held back by rostering, which is inherently conservative. Not to mention the very limited number of people willing to invest in and learn to play a new build. That said, I feel like with Magnetic Gauntlets, it's quality over quantity for VG/IG slots. A good VG/IG is soooo much more impactful than an average one right now, both in terms of damage output and coordination/timing. I actually am not sure what the ideal number is, but it's definitely fewer than before.

This is the case. And if you are in clumps, you should expect to need 80% Empower to cap out, so don't worry.

it will proc but you have to crit on a target below half hp. Very conditional.

Yea, the orb perk is vg is 100% more effective on vg compared to armor vs scream is 33% more effective
