    Not sure if you already figured it out, but that bar at the top is not the battery, it's for the load that you have plugged into the device, it fills up depending on what you have plugged in and how many devices.

      Hope you saved your battery, it may have been perfect.

      That makes WAY more sense. Thank you. The battery was cooked, either way.. I knew that because of a couple of power outages. It only lasted a minute or so, with half load. But that's really good to know. I'm going to pin your comment :)

    This worked for me!
    TIP: Don't get discouraged if you replace the battery and it's still beeping and the charge level is low. I also needed to wait overnight for the battery to stop beeping and charge up. So that advice from the comments was super helpful.
    Thanks for posting this.

    If anyone is watching, you don't need to power off the UPS to do this. Handy when you have live servers etc running off it. That top line is the load on the UPS. Its empty as you have nothing connected to it.

      And the thing below the load that looks like a battery is battery charge level which was 100% both before and after you changed the battery.

    If the UPS screen is not on, try pressing and holding in the right hand top button with the notepad icon for 3 seconds.

      Thanks! I'll definitely give it a shot. The screen hasn't given me any trouble after I replaced the battery.

    Hi, i replaced the batteries and the lower bar is full again, so that's nice BUT... the blinking sign of battery with cross on it keeps blinking. How should I reset that?

    • @JohnLCharette
      @JohnLCharette  5 місяців тому

      I found it needs 24 hours to recalibrate itself. Leave it for a day or so and see if it resolves itself.

      tbh, it doesn't deserve it. He tells you to power off a UPS that supports hot-swap of the battery.

      @@davidspoole Better safe than sorry?! Not that "regular" people would do that anyway (hotswaping) a Home UPS...

      @@Emperor.of.Mankind that is like saying regular people don't use the timer of a microwave oven.
      APC literally built this UPS to support hot swapping of batteries. It's not an issue of safe vs. sorry. It's an issue of someone (who broke part of the UPS, btw) not knowing what they are doing.

      @@davidspoole ok then. Lets say we did not have this video. There is a better video out there? because APC did not made this video.
      This is youtube, most of the videos are made by people at their homes. Im not expecting a huge quality on their tutorials. I expect things might work in the end. But im not asking for a professional video to appear so often. I do not trust that much on "random youtubers" for everything. It sure helps most of the time, but adicional search and study is always recomended. From official sources and books outside the internet. Dont take me wrong, but for a home made video... already helped. And we can always learn with others mistakes.
      cheers.

      @JohnLCharette  8 місяців тому

      Good question. I just did a quick search on Reddit and it looks like people are replacing them with 7Ah and 9Ah batteries but you may need a software calibration key to make them work. Let us know if you learn anymore about it.

      I use mine to protect my expensive electronics from short bursts or sags or power. These battery backup unit are able to optimize the current. If there isn’t enough power, it supplements it with the battery. Too much power and it lowers it.
      It’s less about running your equipment in a power outage, but instead insuring your electrics receive the correct amount of power at all times. This will significantly increase the lifespan of your equipment. I have one for every expensive electrics in my home. Computers, TVs, PlayStation, audio equipment.
      Hope that helps!

    Newer ones need to be laid on the side. And make sure you have the correct side. Or you be pressing the wrong area and cussing it out. Don't ask me how I know. This video didn't directly help me but was good to refresh myself and count to ten, then do it the right way.
