Love my TopDon tornado over any other maintainer I’ve used in years past. Excellent companion of tools Mario
I didn't know about the PowerMax. For just under 400 bucks.. Great apparatus for backyard mechanic. 👍
Great job on the reviews! I love my schumacher unit but Topdon unit is outstanding. If they added some quick disconnect/longer cables that would be nice.
u can buy the longer ones where i got mine 85 euro not bd imo
Great review, Mario! Thank you for the detailed information! 👍
Nice job Mario! PowerMax for the win! Traditional high capacity, dependable, rugged, and economical in a small form factor. Later units are equipped with a voltage meter, internal fan, steel enclosure, > 12 ft long high quality power cables w/ smaller clamps.
ps Not a paid advertisement I own one.
Looking at PowerMax right now for BMW / MB (flash, key) programming work.
@@jamescc2010 before you commit, check to see if it has a full range of adjustable voltage output. Mine turned out to have a narrow output band. Also watch the video again. Mario mentions some BMW’s require 120 Amps.
@@rickw.9298 Will get 120 Amps for sure.
just pick up the topdon charger,. would like to get a full how to use video one day.
Great video Mario. Thanks for the review!
Have you ever heard of the NOCO GENIUSPro50 was wondering if this charger/maintainer etc would be an Ideal tool and how it would compare in our automotive industry?
That’s what I use. They are excellent.
Great review man!! Thanks!!
Appreciate the info Mario. I've been wanting a battery maintainer for awhile Hope all is well with you man!
I can get the INC100 to turn without voltage present by holding the on button for a few seconds. I've used it for bench programming.
Thanks
Topdon is making a huge name in the industry
The full blown power max also has a charging feature
Thanks for the great information.
Great video, Thanks for sharing Bro😍
Stay Safe👍
Thank you I have been looking for something that can do programming and charging

Great job on the reviews! have you ever tried the PRO-LOGIX PL6800 Flashing Power Supply 100A I have been considering the one.
I have not
4th or 1st lol is the Clore PL6100 100a for days 20/40/100 amp charging. It’s heavy tho I wonder how it compares to the TopDon. Great review on these. The shumaker looks like a good one too
I like the simplicity of the PowerMax.
EDIT: Question... if you plug these devices in to a 120v outlet, how are you going to get 100 amps out of the converter??? 120v AC outlets only allow a maximum amperage of 20 amps.....
120v * 20 amps= 2400w / 12v = 200 amps
I bought the Powermax PMBC 100A unit from Amazon for $389.00 5 months ago and it stopped working! I tried to return it but was declined! REALLY!! DONT buy one of these! Worked great until 1 day for no reason would not turn on. I treated it carefully/gently and mounted it on a cart. maybe I got a lemon.. Thanks for review.
That's surprising to hear! Have you tried going through the warranty process to get it repaired?
It comes with 2 year warranty?
Buy another and swap
Have you used the Topdon 90000 for programming?
Thanks for the info
pros and cons on topdon 90000??
The new powermax has an internal fan so no more smashing it and breaking it.
Can current flow from the battery to the supplies? or do they have a minimum output which is greater than 12.7V DC? When the supplies are providing power (like 20 Amps) to the vehicle, how noisy is the output at the vehicle power distribution?
Great video! How much amperage will programming really pull? (Gas engines, not diesel engine glow plugs). How much power demands do I REALLY need? Can't afford these super expensive supplies lol.
Then you can't afford to program vehicles
GYS flash user here, apparently it will run up to 120amps in battery support mode, it charges liquid, agm and lithium ion. Great unit but a bit on the expensive side at about 1200€ 😥😥😥😥 ! The top don looks like a beast at almost half the price of the gys unit ! It also comes with 5 meter leads with a 25mm square cables with big bent type jaws
Unfortunately they don't sell the gys here in the states. And i think it takes 220v if I'm not mistaken. Which is a deal breaker for me. Great kit though, would love to have one of those
How do you set up the battery maintainer feature on the powermax
Just got the topdon 9000 omg i didn't realise it was so big im coming from ctek pro 25s 😂
The topdon appears to be a plastic unit? I have an iota unit. I have to be very careful, it has sharp edges. Perhaps the topdon is a little friendlier around painted surfaces?
The grey part is metal, and the black parts are plastic
any discounts on units looking for topdon
Hi yes there's a ten percent off if you use promo code MARIO10 using Topdon site

Question. You wouldn’t use the Topdon for BMW?
I use it all the time for bmw
Actually I should have been more clear with my question. In the video you said the Powermax’s 120a stable is a must for BMW programming. Does this mean you wouldn’t recommend the Topdon for BMW programming since it’s a 90a stable?
Mario while the powermax is connected and charging the vehicle is there any problem for the powermax if you crank and start the vehicle several times ?
Nope, I’ve experienced no problems
@SuperMarioDiagnostics Nice to hear that, thank you...
Forgive the ignorance of my question but does a battery maintainer do something different than my old dinosaur Everstart50 battery charger on the trickle charge setting? I've considered buying a cheap battery maintainer, but not clear on whether or not I need one since I've already got a trickle charger.
Yes, a maintainer will keep a clean supply of voltage regardless of how much current the vehicle demands during programming, which on some vehicls can even reach up to 100 amps.
A battery charger gives steady current and depending on vehicle current draw, voltage can drop during programming and software corruption can happen as a result
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics thanks
Does PowerMax pmbc120 give you clean stable power at 14.5V for flash programming?
Yep
Does the topdon use a 15amp ac input or 20 amp?
15
@@weldingjunkie So I ordered a Tornado, great unit. The plug it came with attached to the unit is a Nema 20amp. Mine did come with a Nema 15amp adapter. You cannot reach the full rates output with 15 amp input though.
@@nservice1625 true most are like that I have the pro logix 6800 same thing. I wish the TopDon went to 100a for bmw etc
@@nservice1625 Totally my question!!!! How do you get 100 DC amps out of a wall connector that only has 20 amps max available?????????? What am I missing about that????
Can the Topdon maintain during BMW or Mercedes Benz programing?
Yes it will
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Would you recommend the topdon for BMW and MERCEDES programming? Will it handle the time on and amps needed ? Thank you in advance for any information.
For Mercedes, easily. For bmw, it's risky on some models. They require 100-120 amps in some cases
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics OH wow 120 amps, what brand or model would you say its a good one for BMW. Thank you so much for your reply.
Lol it's literally at 1:00 into the video... 🙄
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics lol 😆 I went back and watched it again 🤣 I missed that at the beginning. Thanks.
😆 no worries
Can I run the top don from my inverter in my work van
Yes
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics thank you I have supply set at 13v and 30 amps for key programming would you know if that’s correct
@@deandelomba9653 Do you mind to share your experience with the topdon for key programming in a van?
@@anassa6809 works great
