The girls got them to clap because it was part of their choreography during Kendall's little solo to get everyone to clap. They've done it every time they've performed it. But I do agree that everyone was off beat and it was unnecessary.

i mean look at them how they have their own charismatic on stage, they slay with the song and the dance, NOT just this is kendall's song or how the girls slay more then she but look how good they are,
Kendall looks so flawless with her moves the song perfect with her, and i don't know how Maddie can be so powerfull and so sharp with her moves and that makes her looks so great, don't ask me how i adore Mackenzie she makes me speechless with those hard moves and Kalani everytime i see her in any of her dance she always look so gorgeous her moves always tell us that it was beautiful like seriously so beautiful.
They have their own vibe that's why this was so perfection.

Originally when the tour was planned Nia and jojo weren't put in unfortunately. Dance moms wasn't supposed to be filming the tour but they ended up doing so, and so Nia and jojo had to come. They weren't added to the tour even then.
