617 HP 😂, this engine put out 680 HP on the dyno in Germany.
Don’t forget America fuel quality is terrible
@@tommywang8229 why? I think that they have also high Octane fuel.
@@alengreen589They do, the fuel quality isn’t terrible. It will depend on the station, but most are good.
The car will make more power than it’s rated at even with the lowest octane fuel, it makes more power with higher octane though.
If you run e30 mix on the stock tune, the ecu will advance timing and make more power. It’s a good way to make slightly more power 10-30whp without tuning or modifying
If it’s the European model - they are rated at 625 HP; not, 617. It’s interesting that there are a lot of claims that the cars has more power than its rated; yet, I cannot find ONE video of a stock one on a dyno. How is that even possible? Not, one single video that supports the claim of underrated power. Please let me know a channel if you’ve seen any.
Bought it 3 months ago, let me tell you that I enjoy going to work now and am never late
lol
congrats
At MSRP these are a tougher sell due to the competition, but depreciation is crazy on these and you can pick up a few year old model for $70-80K. I think at that price, it's an insane bargain.
There is no winning for the M8 Competition - some reviewers don't like it because it is too smooth. This guy says it is too stiff. Others claim that it has too many technical responses and others say it is too raw. The one thing about "opinions" is that everyone has one and they are merely that - an opinion.
I've seen so many reviews and it is hard to know who to take seriously. Some complain that the response from the car is too mechanical and that they don't get to enjoy the "sports car" feel. Then you turn around and have another reviewer saying that the car could have a much softer ride.
Here is my take - this car is well balance and super responsive. Smooth when it has too be smooth and rugged on rugged surfaces. The car adjusts well to many different environments and even when in "Comfort" mode - the car flies out of a complete stop. I love everything about the design and about the response from those driving by. I have not been out without at least having one person asking me "what is that?" I've gone to many car shows in which car enthusiasts just find themselves fascinated by the way this car looks. I can say that the car is a lot nicer than I anticipated - based on many "iffy" reviews.
Had the option of getting the M8 Competition or a 911 Turbo S and I went for the M8 - no regrets. My buddies driving 911 Turbo S are blown away by the looks of this beast. No, I am not saying that it is more of a car than a 911 Turbo S; but, I am saying that I have no regrets and love every bit of it.
Pricing? It is not priced for just anyone and there is nothing wrong with that. The car was build for a specific market and there is nothing wrong with that.
Fuel efficiency? Nobody will be running their car at full blast every moment. I am getting between 21-23 MPG with the occasional flooring when in an open stretch. The car is very efficient if you cruise with it when in town.
And still a great choice, I hope you have enjoyed picking up yours and driving he car. Sometimes if car is to hard to read test driving them is better.
I honestly which to have the opportunity in the future to own a gt car and have the money money for it. And between bmw m8, porsche 911 turbos, Bentley continental gt and Aston martin db12. Its either m8 or the dB 12 for me. And who knows mabey even the new vantage.
This car is an absolute blast to drive. I came out of a 2011 911 T s convertible, and yes, porsche steering is in a league by itself, I am totally satisfied with my decision. Gas mileage is very similar to the porsche 21 to 23 mpg on average with spirited driving. M8 convertible is a tad more comfortable on the longer road trips vs. porsche. And that exhaust note is simply intoxicating. Love it.
I think I’ve found a new favorite of BMW cars… The M Competition!
oh thank god, i was thinking about buying this (prob next year if i keep grinding hard) and you released this vid, thank you sm miles

I got an m550, can’t imagine how much powerful this beast is. Nice review 👍
to be fair the m550 is the perfect daily over 500 horse power is crazy good choice man
does it drift??
@@ah9337 No one wants to drift with a car that you use every day. ;)
I love the M550. Perfect blend of power and comfort.

Ripping a sick smooth drift off the rip, you get a few claps of badassery from me man. 👏👏
I love my M8 comp. I think the aspect he overlooked is that I can comfortably take my supercar to Costco and in mine the gran coupe 4 door, I can sit comfortably in the back at 6ft tall with the seat in my drivers position. That being said, styling wise, no one knows how special this car is unless they’re a bmw nerd lol. My Aston used to draw all sorts of attention, the M8 draws about none.
relaxing video in a perfect envaironment
Awesome car man
i would get the M8 hands down but i would get it in the sedan configuration. looks more handsome to me. but if i had to get a coupe, i would get the 911 for its driving dynamics
I like the sedan also. Saw one the other day driving
@1:23 From the side profile it looks like a smoothed out 04 Monte Carlo lol.
I love mine
Well done. Where is this road man?!?!? It looks like a car enthusiasts’ dream road on which to drive an unspecified miles per hour.
Oh man i love this car ❤️❤️❤️thanks for review 🙏
❤️❤️the colour is fantastic ❤️👌
Would really like to see how the m6 coupe competition behaves on the same road
Great video! How would you compare the M3 vs the M8 as of acceleration experience?
Bmw m8 is a dream car of mine😊
Great review as always,i wanna see u review a Koenigsegg regera
Definitely M6 F13 and the preceding V10 brethren on the question of looks.
The speedrun interior
8:23 look at the right mirror I saw blue trash moving 😂
This is a tough one for me, Miles. The BMW 8 Series Coupe can pass for a German Thunderbird, but as an M8 Comp Coupe, all that performance runs up the price where the real competition gives it a run for the money. I would option an 840i but anything you add gets you to a six-figure sticker price and the 8 Series Coupe is a huge vehicle for just two people. Anyway, everytime I see an 8 Series on the road I think about all the other cars available for the same money - can't help myself. Thanks for giving me something to ponder, Miles.
You and I have the same mental blocker; I would struggle to feel satisfied, knowing on what other fantastic machines my money could have been spent.
What other vehicles come to mind?
@@HonorRollStudent5150 pt cruisers 😏
@@HonorRollStudent51 The Porsche 911 Carrera, although if your looking at bmw M8 vs 911, the Carrera models won't be as fast as the M8 if you wanna compare them by price. The turbo and turbo s are more comparable to the M8 in terms of performance, but those models cost $200k+. I would also say the Mercedes e63s is a pretty good competitor at this price point for the M8. Honestly if your looking to buy a coupe, just get the 911, it's a way better drivers car, and then the M8 gran coupe could be compared to the M5 and also the e63s.
One thing I’m really not liking about the P Zeros is their breaking performance. They just fall underneath you when you really do need them. These tires are phenomenal to drive on . But my conclusion is the P zero is a fun track day tire. That it’s . Put on some Bridgestones , Continentals or Michelins for the drive home 🏠
"World famous" horn test. That is such an American thing to call everything that. I like your channel a lot though, good reviews!
M8 all day long but I’m happy with my M550I for an everyday driver.
my dream spec, a red m8 coupe. Hate the boring colors. My father had a bright red e36 coupe and this car embodies that pretty well.
I would also go for stuff like purple or santorini blue, unlike the other bimmers this is beautiful enough to suit any paint
However having an E53 coupe and looking at the rear seats of the 8 coupe it is ridiculously awful in terms of space
I have a 2014 m6 comp. Is it worth the upgrade to a m8? Im considering it but would like opinions. I barely drive my m6 as it is. Not sure if i want to upgrade if i most likely will barely drive m8 as much
It's a sleeper and so underrated.😁
😂 that couldn’t be further from the truth. No M car is a sleeper, especially not an M8. People will see the number 8 next to the M badge and think it’s 2x an M4
yea definitely wouldn’t call this a sleeper lol
This thing is faster than some modern Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The good thing is that it doesn't get a lot of attention, I can take it to Walmart for shopping. You don't want to take your Ferrari to Walmart though.
M8 coupe is way better than the 6 coupe but id still take a 6
I love the 8 series, I'll totally go for the M8 over the M6, although what I want is that BMW keep the 8 series but put iDrive 8... yes i like iDrive 8, just leave the car like it is and put just iDrive 8
Yes I understand that it looks horrible with the dual screen and the support mounts that have the screen.
I expect that change is coming soon
My parents have an iX. Love iDrive 8!!
what happened with the POV nights??
Pants wearing me 😂
hay i have a question for you , which car did you like the most ? is it the m8 coupe or the gt63 s ?
GT63 S. That sound, and the cool cabin take the win for me.
Thanks Miles. I know, I'm late to the party.
You mentioned that this model's suspension tended toward the stiff side. This is what has been reported up until the 2024 model year.
Reviews of the 2024 M8 are now saying that the ride is quite supple in it's comfort setting. If that is true, then what has changed?
There has been no announced updates by BMW to the M8 suspension from 2023 to 2024 model years.
What is this saying then? It seems there may have been a glitch in the adaptive suspension logic that has now been corrected.
This is a very complex system that is always adjusting to the the road conditions and the relative driver settings.
It may be that the logic kept defaulting or locking up to a stiff setting even in comfort mode. There is no reason for the vehicle not to be at least supple in comfort, if not cushion smooth.
Let me know what you find out. Maybe a test of the new 2024 M8 will shed some more light on these very few comments of it being supple in comfort for 2024.
This is a huge deal for the M8. That hard stiff ride in comfort setting has thrown off many potential buyers.🤔
Gord
I'm confused, watched quite a few M8 comp reviews......some say like you it's a bit harsh on slight imperfections, others say its smooth over them....is it tyre choice? Don't ever want to track my car just want a good looking, powerful comfortable GT
Hmm, I doubt it would just be tires - and there’s only one wheel size, so perhaps it’s just reviewer context? When I think about this class, all it’s competitors have greater ride compliance (LC500, 911, etc)
The M850 is the right comparison to the Lexus LC500, performance, price and ride comfort wise. The M8 is about super-car performance in a daily usable form,
What are the "stereotypes of M8 drivers"? :D
this car has the laser lights, not led matrix
that red is so nice
iDrive 7, all those physical controls, and the iDrive controller (which is about to become extinct) are a zillion times better than iMax 8 (errrr I mean iDrive 8) and beyond, amirite?
I've been considering getting a used M8 Comp. I'm a little concerned about why the cars lose 1/2 their value after 3 years? Does anyone have a reason for such depreciation?
You don't want this outside of warranty
@talhaahmed I've heard this before. Did you have one and had issues?
@Bruhman6ft8 not an M8 Comp, but BMW's or most of other German sedans depreciate insanely because of the likelihood of issues that pop up and the fortune you have to spend to fix em. Just choose wisely.
@@talhaahmed6394 another toyota prius driver
@@Bruhman6ft8 he is just yapping this car is almost brand new won't make any problems.. The reason for the depreciation is very simple, there are too many examples out there but not enough willing to pay the extreme pricing for a bmw. The Mercedes SL brand new already goes for 15% less than list price at the dealer.
I can get a 3 year old m8 for half it's price without even a lot of miles and if I had the money I would do it (if there's no S63 coupe available).
It doesn't mean that the car is unreliable because in fact there is nothing wrong with it at all.
Does he actually have the key 🤔
He used the BMW turn indicator, its not paint...
BMW M8
BMW M8 Competition Cabriolet Hands Down!!!!! The Best Value For Money Proposition Currently. The Only Other Car that makes sense in this segment is the Ferrari Portofino M. The Bentley GTC & GT Speed W12 Fail, on account of their unwieldiness compared to the precise handling package of the Portofino M and the M8 Competition. The Mercedes Benz SL63 tries to hard to mimic the Porsche 911, and misses the point. The Maserati Gran Tourismo does not make the cut, given the fact that it is as fast as the M4 Competition, and not the Ferrari Portofino M and the M8 Competition Cabriolet. The Porsche 911 T is one car I would never look at on account of its configuration, because from a classical perspective, even though it has precise steering, and is surefooted, it still provides a tad too harsh and compromised a ride, compared to the front - engine cars referred to above, whereas the Ferrari Portofino M and the BMW M8 Competition Cabriolet, provide the perfect balance between Grand Touring and Supercar Performance, whilst the Bentley GT and GTC Speed W12 a Classic Luxury Grand Tourer.
M8 is definitely the best looking BMW ever
M8 always looked better than the M6. Also, I hate when POV channels think we want to see thier face over the car.
I don’t think it’s very different from and m5 obviously besides the way it looks
I can get my dog back there and that’s what matters

Your video is boring, mate 😉
Any chance a review of the 2024 X5M competition is coming soon?
Working on getting it for review, yes!

Really hope the M8 gets a facelift with that new S68. The M version will make 1000+ hp on the stock turbos, insane.
Already tested making 850+awhp with all stock hardware, no mods! Only a jb4 and higher octane fuel
The M lite (M60i) has the same engine and turbos as the 760i, they are a bit smaller. Closer in size to the N63TU3 (think M50i cars) and still capable of 700+whp, but the engine itself is obviously better and stronger than an N63.
