There’s too many great riffs for there to be a greatest. You should listen to some of the early Pantera records when they were more like Dokken where they were still heavy but had that melodic feel that defined the 80s. Half of those songs could’ve been radio hits had Pantera decided to go to LA instead of stay in Texas.

Don makes good points about band members moving on. Fans all want the original lineups, of course. But there just comes a time, where members need to go their separates ways. Not easy to stick together for 40 years. Some bands can do it, some can't. People want George and Don to work together again. But they just have their own lives going right now. I constantly see people complain that Warren DeMartini is not in Ratt anymore. And I'm thinking "yeah it sucks, but oh well" just gotta let it go. A lot of iconic musicians are no longer with the band they are famous for. Skid Row is without Sebastian Bach, for example. Most 80's bands that are still active today, are not the original lineup. But as long as the bands continue, and keep the music alive. That's all that matters.
@@jamiehovis7722 It's all about business and marketing. If you change the band name, fans will be less interested, some might not even follow the band closely enough to even know they changed. Don was the mastermind nehind those great Dokken albums, no question.. He's a damn good artist n musician/ songwriter.. He helped make high school a little bit better
I saw the same tour of Dokken opening for Dio in Ft.Myers Florida in 84 & got there late & totally missed Dokken. Man I was pissed. Don memory must be going when he said he wrote most of Tooth & Nail by himself but looking at the credits Don's on 5, Mick is on 5, George is on 9 & Jeff is on all 10.
What I really want to know is why Broken Bones was taken off of all the streaming services, I bought the album on Applemusic and it just vanished, Don says they're re-releasing it but I just wanna know when.
Hey man you should get with Jay Reynolds from Malice and get a nice interview from him too. I’d love to know more about that band and especially the EP Crazy In The Night.
full in bloom keep trying man, and thank you for bringing the interviews that we really wanna hear. That Icon interview was fantastic. Idk why Blabbermouth or sleazeroxx couldn’t have shared that information from what you did. A lot of people still don’t know Icon is working again.
I can relate to Don Dokkens back problems. Ive got sciatica due to arthritis and problems with other areas of my back. Im always dropping things, wake up in the middle of the night and my hands are numb with sharp pains shooting through my wrists, etc,,,,,. Its a Bitch.
Any Luck on actually getting George Lynch on here? Perhaps he could give us his version for the Tooth and Nail Recording of the mishaps that was Caused.
Any mention of Great White resurrects the horrible circumstances surrounding the death of the "new guy", the "temp" guitarist, Ty Longley. A grim reminder of the dark side of these "heroes"
Some of this sounds so ironic. Ive seen old videos of Dokken over in Germany or wherever and Jeff n George were alone in a hotel room with a bunch of small but nice recording equipment writing songs and Don n Mick were downstairs partying it up.
Lol. Way to go with that last question! Lol. Yeah man DOKKEN was one of my bands I was rooting for. Wasp blew it too. Oh well that can be life in that fast lane.
Not sure WASP "blew it". I think they tried to be successful but it just didn't happen. Blackie wasn't the type of guy that was going to be a multi platnuim singer. They were to shocking in the beginning to be a headliner and then to serious around the Headless children. Dokken could have been bigger but they just couldn't get out of their own way. They definitely blew it
He was a good guitarist in the early 80s until Lynch insisted on being the primary guitarist, but Don could really jam and solo on the Les Paul back then
Tooth and Nail with Into the Fire with all the changes, and Don't Close Your Eyes was a little more serious and Heavier than albums like Invasion of Your Privacy, but I can live without Just Got Lucky, and Alone Again
Super interesting. Greg Pecka was the drummer that bowed out of the second tour of Germany because of Scientology preventing him from going there. My guess is that they were pissed that Germany does not recognize them as a true religion because of the controversies involved.

I wonder what he thinks now, 1 year later and we're experiencing even more craziness?
Man, do I love all the Full In Bloom interviews. It was nice to hear Don mention the XYZ album. You did miss an opportunity to ask a few questions on that one. The XYZ album is just SO, SO good. It's one of my favorites from the entire genre. Done did such a good job with those guys...Perfection. You also had Don talking about the recording of the Beast From the East album, and he was about to go into the Dokken break-up, but you then had him backtrack to Tooth and Nail. It would have been nice to hear him continue with that story.
Thank you, my friend. Here's something cool I posted on the website a couple of years ago regarding the XYZ/Don Dokken connection: fullinbloom.com/xyz-bassist-pat-fontaine-on-meeting-don-dokken-who-produced-the-bands-1st-album-we-had-a-few-beers-a-few-lines-and-a-few-laughs-2022/
Don and George deserve each other.
Fucking great interview as always. Thank you. So glad to hear Don is not an sjw.
I love “ full in bloom “ 🎃
This channel is great man! Don should tour Europe with dokken even without lynch...
Don can't sing. Guess Europe is a good place
Hoogla Boogla fuck America
I_____AM_____REALITY, BROSKI fuck you
Great interview. I need to check out Don’s older songs. I was also at that Dokken/Dio show at Reunion.
How cool is that? Glad you enjoyed the interview.
I have herniated disc in my neck and for a year or more my left hand and arm was practically paralyzed. They decided not to do the surgery at the last minute and over time i am close to 90% back to normal. It takes time
Love this channel. Best interviews man.. ♥️🤘
He is a much brighter guy than George....
One of my very favorite bands growing up! Bought the US Breaking the Chains lp when it came out. Really enjoyed the interview! Honest & Real imo Wish Don the very Best on recovering from the surgery? My wife's about to have back surgery, no accidents, just getting old is a bitch lol
Don, God speed man! Thx for all the memories and songs! Stay safe, keep rockin' 😎🤘
I'm going to start a Dokken tribute band and call it Thirteen Acres.
FEELS LIKE THE DRAMA HAPPENING THROUGH ME AGAIN-YIKES, "ALONE AGAIN" VERY REAL. LOVE FULL MOON
My favourite '80s Metal Album, hooked from hearing Tooth and Nail one night on the Power Hour on CHEZ 106FM in Ottawa.
Wow, I didn't know he was having these kind of health issue! That really sucks. I pray he gets better
My first concert experience was seeing Dokken open for twisted sister on the under lock and key tour, Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland, Maine.
Don was the mastermind nehind those great Dokken albums, no question.. He's a damn good artist n musician/ songwriter.. He helped make high school a little bit better
These guys are my favorite band
I'm a lefty that had severe damage done to my left forearm and hand to switch to right hand. It takes awhile to get used to.
35:05 I think the APIs he bought from EVH were from the console that EVH bought from Sunset Sound.
I saw it --- George was on fire..... I officially became a fan !!!
I actually reached out last week but heard nothing back.
full in bloom keep trying man, and thank you for bringing the interviews that we really wanna hear. That Icon interview was fantastic. Idk why Blabbermouth or sleazeroxx couldn’t have shared that information from what you did. A lot of people still don’t know Icon is working again.
Luv the album out of the night by great white, didn't know don dokken produced
I can relate to Don Dokkens back problems. Ive got sciatica due to arthritis and problems with other areas of my back. Im always dropping things, wake up in the middle of the night and my hands are numb with sharp pains shooting through my wrists, etc,,,,,. Its a Bitch.
Any Luck on actually getting George Lynch on here? Perhaps he could give us his version for the Tooth and Nail Recording of the mishaps that was Caused.
I would love to interview George to get his side. Please send him my way.
He really laid it all out on the line , did not know that Don and George did not work in the same room
Any mention of Great White resurrects the horrible circumstances surrounding the death of the "new guy", the "temp" guitarist, Ty Longley. A grim reminder of the dark side of these "heroes"
Some of this sounds so ironic. Ive seen old videos of Dokken over in Germany or wherever and Jeff n George were alone in a hotel room with a bunch of small but nice recording equipment writing songs and Don n Mick were downstairs partying it up.
hit and run had great potential
Fun information!!!!
"How long does it take..to break the spell?!.. Straight to the top, tooth and nail!"
Never knew Don produces XYZ' record, that's a hell of an album. Don really is a living lege#d!!
anyone know what year this is? it says 2 years ago but idk if it was 2021 or before that
God I am going to through the same thing neck surgery is so dangerous
They definitely blew it
Mick Brown is awesome.
He was a good guitarist in the early 80s until Lynch insisted on being the primary guitarist, but Don could really jam and solo on the Les Paul back then
Lynch is an asshole.
The 3 videos were Just Got Lucky, Into the fire, alone again. Don said In my Dreams and The Hunter...lol wrong album Don lol.
Ok so he says in another interview that George and Jeff wrote into the fire and it was one of there songs. Which is it don??
Say what u want about don singing has falling off some etc but man he is a very smart buissness sence
FALLEN OFF THE STAGE A COUPLE TIMES TOOK ITS TOLL, KEEP-UP THE THERAPY ZEN GARDEN, LOVE FULL MOON JEN
What possessed him to get this surgery?
Tooth and Nail with Into the Fire with all the changes, and Don't Close Your Eyes was a little more serious and Heavier than albums like Invasion of Your Privacy, but I can live without Just Got Lucky, and Alone Again
Super interesting. Greg Pecka was the drummer that bowed out of the second tour of Germany because of Scientology preventing him from going there. My guess is that they were pissed that Germany does not recognize them as a true religion because of the controversies involved.
